I don't have a specific diagram at hand, but for a PS3 turning off immediately after powering on, the areas to check include: Power Supply Unit (PSU) - Test the voltage output. Thermal Management - Inspect the thermal paste and cooling system. RSX (GPU) and CELL (CPU) - Look for overheating or connection issues. SMD Components - Focus on resistors and capacitors near the power and thermal circuits. Board Shorts - Use a multimeter to check for shorts near the RSX, CELL, and power inputs.
Hi @michaelolayinka441! If the CPU gets extremely hot in such a short time, it could be due to poor contact with the heatsink or a malfunctioning thermal management system. Check the thermal paste and ensure the heatsink is seated properly. Also, verify if the fan is spinning correctly during startup. If those seem fine, a short in the CPU power delivery circuit or a damaged MOSFET could be the culprit. Let me know if you need further guidance!
You should be careful when probing high voltage lines with your oscilloscope, (12V in this case) and right after that probing some sensitive circuitry! The input capacitance of the scope charges up to that voltage, and you risk demaging something. I always touch the ground to discharge the scope probe (cable) between 2 measurements.
@hamasmalik If your PS3 has the same issue and works occasionally, it might be due to a loose connection or a failing component. Right now, I'm not able to share personal contact info, but I recommend reaching out to a trusted local repair shop for hands-on help. Feel free to ask here if you want any tips for troubleshooting on your own!
The king of kings Mr Idrees long live the king
Asalam o Alikum sir...
Good to see you again
Jazak Allah...
This is an amazing repair and diagnosis. You got there in the end and she is alive!! again. Thank you for teaching us and sharing.
Do you have like a diagram showing which parts we need to check

Mine shuts off after 5 seconds with no red light, I noticed the CPU gets super hot under 5 seconds, what could be the issue or culprit

Hello brother can this repair be done with out using an oscilloscope
Suggest alternative for oscilloscope
Please reply soon
Yes, you can use your digital multimeter and compare readings with the other same model motherboard.
an example of the value of the damaged smd resistor, how many ohms, sir?
A lot
Good work sir👍🤝
Thanks 👍
The OHms from my board reads 53 in 2:30 what could be the issue
This resistance needs to be replaced.
WOW THANK YOU
You're most welcome! Glad you found the content helpful. 😊

Thanks for all the information, and I will keep this information under consideration.😀
My ps3 has a similar issue, do you take repair orders ?
Yes, but it should not be already a repair attempt by an ordinary repair person.
@@idreestech Fantastic! how do I go about sending you my ps3?
very good work
Many thanks
Seems like I need a new motherboard or send it to fix😢
🛠️🤗
👍👍👍👍
Estuvo difícil esta pero al final le llego a los problemas.
Good
Good
good luak
Thanks, appreciate it!
