Yes. I actually met her once, decades ago when my sister did the costumes for summerstock. Yvonne was doing the part of the Baroness in the Sound of Music. Not the movie- this was a play. She was very nice.
This is Classic Hollywood from the '50's! Love the Story, the intrigue, and the Love Triangle! I have never seen this Film before. I took a Chance, what a pleasant surprise! Good Story Line and great acting! Thank You!
DELICIOUS BAD ACTING AND FANTASTIC 50's FASHION WITH FANTASTIC 50's INTERIOR HOME DECOR IN THE BACKGROUND...THAT ALONE MAKES THIS MOVIE AN EYE CANDY DELIGHT...IN TRU COLOR TOO
The relationship between the Zachary Scott character and Yvonne deCarlo is confusing. The producer let this ride on the allure of the location shooting for its own sake, regardless of whether the plot makes any sense, or seems formulaic.
Love these old movies. Woman were naturally beautiful with no botox back then . It's when woman looked classy and elegant. Gone are those days sadly most people look the same in today's world. Thankyou for posting.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think this is Yvonne De Carlo's most glamorous role of her career. Who knew she could sing! What a lovely surprise. Thank you very much for this gem.
This was the first full length movie I have ever seen starring Yvonne DeCarlo. She was a beautiful woman in her younger years and a good actress. I’m just sorry I didn’t get to see others. I always liked Howard Duff and Zachary Scott as well. I liked the movie very much! Thanks for sharing!
Yvonne deCarlo was in a series of Technicolor Swashbucklers at Universal in the 1940s. She had already been around for well over a decade by this time. The following year she as seen in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.
I think this Technicolor soap opera is a lot of fun. Take it or Leave it song and dance was meant to be provocative and in your face. Yvonne was always good when she fought back.
This movie could serve as a classic example that bad movies, bad stories, bad writing and bad acting are nothing new. Even back in the old glory days of Hollywood, there was incompetence of great magnitude. Now, on the other hand, this movie was great in production values as in sets and décor and fashion.
Yvonne De Carlo steals every scene in this movie. Another one to add to my De Carlo collection. A shame that Zachary Scot didn't get a chance to show his chops., but still worth watching. Thanks for posting!
Sparkling eyes and sensuous voice and good looker too , Yvonne de Carlo . Singer and dancer , not bad at all .But ditching Doug whom she had loved crazily all those years so suddenly and hitching up with the preacher , now that's called a real twist in the tale .
What a great movie!!-love the 53 Caddy-Eldorado at t he start !!--movie reminds me of myself=overbearing/pain in the butt/mammas-boy/devious/pretentious/mamma blew my nose for me till I was 35 !!-& kept me "Celibate"
Dorothy Dandridge- wonderful and troubled dancer and actress passed away tragically in 1965... like MM. Ms. de Carlo- unsung heroine now like Mammi van Damme or Kim Novak or Jayne Mansfield; Ava Gardner of course legendary celebrity... Frank Sinatra's wife. Thank you for sharing the colorfull and up-beat movie from the best years of Hollywood.. when everything was different... maybe even better...
From Hollywood's BIG little studio. Every nickel of the budget is on the screen plus Mr.Yate's Tru-Color process.About this time, they were reaping in the profits from Quiet Man and selling the vault of old western and action pictures to TV, to pay for this epic. When showmen were still around calling the shots. Thank you for posting.
Very true...Very true...cinema is an Adventure..helps us to relax...and the scenery in them are awesome...I enjoys that. I've never been on a plane...or traveled. Just raised my kids Alone worked..and all that other stuff wasn't important so I Enjoy Scenic Stories🍃😁
Nowadays people blame feminism, communism and give all sorts of stupid reasons, but the truth is, women got lazy. Women can still wear whatever they want, use make-up, go to the hairdresser, but it all takes effort, and women, specially American women, refuse to do so. Comfort is their favorite word, regardless of how ugly, grungy and boring that comfort is. As a woman, you have the choice to go with today's flow, or dress well. I choose dress well, I do not care if people call me stand-offish, conceited, vain or just plain old fashioned. At the end of the day, the compliments outnumber the stares, or is it women are freaking afraid of standing out?
I agree, I only wear raggedy clothes around the house. I still like to dress now. That is sad both genders no longer care about appearance. Feminism is important, but some women like to exploit it for their own agenda.
Given that we are celebrating Modernism Week in Palm Springs, I thought this would be fun to watch. All the sets in this movie were beautifully done and what a fun cast. Thanks for posting this.
Wonderful underrated & under appreciated Republic gem.Rare & difficult to find.Just beautiful to watch.I believe this film is one of Martin Scorsese’s favourites & is due to be remastered!Thank you for the upload Lots of fun.A great gift❤️
OMG I FKING LOVE THIS FILM ! SO RACY FOR THE TIMES , GLAM , GREAT STYLING ,COSTUME,SETS , ACTING, DIALOGUE, ART DIRECTION,CAMP ,BRILLIANT ,UNINTENTIONALLY HILARIOUS ( HER SONG Bahama Mamma) WHAT A JOY ! , TOTAL ESCAPISM IN VERY MELODRAMA PLOT WITH BADASS FEMALE HEROINE .. DONE BRILLIANTLY ..EVERYTHING TO LOVE
What is there not to like, beautiful setting ,"TRUECOLOR",great clothes, cars a time I would have liked to have visited The Bahama's,a whiff of Dr. No,the script is so so ,Noticed that Virginia is noted as a classy place in this and other movies of the period.
Virginia was a green, lush state distinguished by wonderful homes actually designed by architects - many and most from the 18th century. It was gorgeous country remarkable for it's starlit nights...Sound like the movie script? Yeah. Only this is true. "Progress" destroyed that beautiful place like so many other states in this country. - Anyway, this movie was worth watching just to see how many different costumes they could design to feature Miss De Carlo's derriere and match her lipstick at the same time. - Even the furniture matched. A lot of fun to watch during a time that wasn't corrupted by political correctness and the perverse outcropping of distorted and hateful"social" behavior we now enjoy.

I can’t remember, I had one too many drinks , what do you have to do to get a drink around here, you got anything to drink around here, I’d offer you a drink but I’m fresh out of bourbon. Yvonne DiCarlo looking her beautiful best. She had a beautiful voice and was an all around true Movie Star.

Whatever else I may comment upon this film. The set and prop design is beautiful! The crew showed up for this one.
Yes, the Art Direction was well done. It's too bad the plot is weak.
