Does not matter, Ripley said. She should Show some self restraint and say no. Just because evil says yes. It does not mean one agrees. Does she not know clothing dimensions. M Monroe 5'6" 36/22/36. K Kardashian 5'2" 35/25/42. Kim Kardashian crossed the line she consistently been trying replicate the greats and fail. Metaphorically speaking. *The glass slipper is not meant for kim Kardashian* Should have never asked to do it. Regardless of a yes, to her request. Even if the measurements matched to the T, still should have said no.
Kim has more than enough money to have had multiple perfect replicas made. The fact that she even thought she had any right whatsoever to that dress just goes to show how entitled she is
She had a replica already. Ripley's never should have let her wear it and if she had any real respect for Marilyn M. she wouldn't have wanted to wear it. She just HAD to be incredibly selfish and wear it on the red carpet anyway.
This dress was iconic. It should’ve stayed on display. People are not supposed to wear historical clothing, it wasn’t made for today what with our perfumes and deodorants. I understand replicas, all for it; but if it’s a historical item it should’ve been off limits. Sigh it was so beautiful in it’s original condition
@@Tebi12345 it is they have a very recent history and even if they didnt it goes for every nation clothing tells so muh whether its lower class clothes or royalty since the modern USA has no monarchy or very very old history the material history they have is going to be recent and marilyn monroe's dress was a very emblematic moment of american pop culture even if it is very recent (thats if we dont take into account the history of indigenous communities)
@@melowlw8638 That's a timeline thing not part of what the nations about I understand why people are angry about the Kim thing but Come on it's a dress u can call it pop history but generally that event wasn't important to history as it is The scenario Is just like the Mona Lisa it is Renaissance history artwork and if it got ruined people would be angry I get but still isn't historically important to Italy
In case you didn't know, they had similar deodorants and perfumes then as well... this dress wasn't THAT long ago! 😆 I agree wearing the dress was a bad idea and yes, those things can be very harmful to clothing then and now.
Angry facts: -The museum said no to Kim TWICE -she still couldn't fit it (cuz it wasn't hers) but she persisted -She had a replica of both this artifact AND the other gown Norma "Marylin Monroe" Jean passed over -As soon as she got off the carpet she changed into the replica she had specifically made for her -she didn't do it out of respect but to state that she was an icon just like her (SHE WILL NEVER BE) -you can literally HEAR the tearing as they put it on her -you can see the damage being done while she is at the met gala -Marylin AND the artist of the dress both said NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO WEAR THIS DRESS!!!!!!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Monroe wanted that dress to be worn only by her so they custom made it to fit like a glove on her. Disrespecting her wish doesn’t sit right with me
They had to sew the dress onto Marilyn to even have it on her, and she couldn't move easily with it on. She wore it with no undergarments for it to be a skin-tight fit, which was also what made the dress such a statement for women to wear what they wanted to, and to weaponize women's bodies *for* women
You are perfectly right and that's what I have been saying since it happened. Having now seen the actual damage just made me even angrier. I wonder...if someone in her entourage took something belonging to her without her permission, wore it and ruined it, how would she react? I know...Marilyn is not here to have her say but still...to me it feels even more disrespectful.
I blame the museum but I DEFINITELY blame Kim as well. Any person with respect would’ve turned down wearing such a historical piece. She literally wore it for photo ops and an ego boost. So she could say she’s the only other person beside Marilyn to wear the dress. The fact that she had a replica that she ended up changing into after a few minutes is even more frustrating cause she should’ve just worn that instead of damaging the dress for no reason. I’m sorry but anyone with eyes can see Kim and Marilyn are nowhere near the same size. It’s clear Kim has no respect for the dead. The fact that she also bought one of MJ’s jackets and got it resized to fit her kid is proof of that. She does it because she can and to boost her ego. I’m pretty sure her kid doesn’t even know who MJ is 💀
She didn’t turn down the offer because she was the one to reach out to them to ask if she could wear it. Actually, she didn’t even reach out to them first she reached out to the auction place that auctioned it to Ripleys to be the middle man in helping to get her to be able to wear the dress. Initially, they said no and that they had a replica she could wear but Juliens Auctions said “Kim doesn’t do replica” and after a few meetings they gave in because Kim payed them well
@@TheLovelyLucy damn I didn’t know that. Thank you for telling me! That makes me even more frustrated. Kim has no class whatsoever and should’ve never asked in the first place. She claims she’s a “huge Monroe fan” yet she disrespected Marilyn’s wishes and destroyed the dress 😭💔
I remember Lana wore a replica in her “national anthem “ video and it was a great replica and the goal was achieved of looking like Marilyn without wearing the actual fucking dress lol
The dress is considered an artifact. It’s like if someone went and wore princess Diana’s wedding dress and ripped it. People would and should be outraged. This not ok. Pieces like this should not be worn for clout. As a former archivist, it irks me when people say they don’t care
I agree!! Well, I read somewhere that when Princess Charlotte turns 18 she will inherit both the Spencer Tiara (the tiara that Princess Diana wore on her wedding day) and the Vladimir Tiara with the Cambridge Emeralds.
@@kiaraeijo Wait, doesn’t the Spencer Tiara belong to the Spencer family since that is where the tiara originally came from? How come Princess Charlotte will receive the Spencer Tiara when she turns 18 if the tiara only belongs to the Spencer family and ONLY the members of the Spencer family can wears it? Unless the tiara will be her birthday gift from the Spencer family.
@@C.V.20 Yes but the 9th Earl Spencer is her great-uncle and gave Prince William permission to give the Tiara to his daughter since it was Princess Diana’s tiara
The way Kim forced herself into that dress is giving the same energy that the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella gave when they tried to force themselves into the glass slipper.
Incredible that people called you dramatic over Kim wearing the dress. Well, here we are. The dress is tarnished for the rest of history, a piece of history, a piece of Marylin is tarnished forever. Nothing is her's anymore. 😔
I learned about this dress the day Kim decitade to wear it and after reading little bit my heart broke, it's so sad. And knowing Marilyn wanted it to be HERS, just HERS it gets me so angry.
It’s not just a dress ,it’s history! Not only a big moment in Fashion history but in Women’s history as well. Shame on Ripley’s believe it or not for allowing Kim to completely destroy this humongous piece of history.
I don't think is a big part of history for people and women that are not from USA, like I think Marilyn Monroe was a gorgeous women and all, but I don't feel she made history since I'm not from USA.
Also the fact that Hugh Hefner is underground right next Marilyn Monroe's burial ... is so direspectful to a woman who was sexualized all her career. For me, this passes the message that women still can be taken advantage even in death... So saddening and infuriating.
I find it ridiculous that people are trying to decide weither Ripleys or Kim should be held accountable rather than acknowledging they BOTH should be held accountable especially when you know she already had the replica made before she forced herself into the dress; even when trying it on the people at Ripley's where ignoring the ripping and popping that is even noticeable through the video audio, she even kept saying should she put on more shapewear to fit in it...... SO BOTH RIPLEY AND KIM KNEW WITHOUT A DOUBT IT STILL COULDN'T FIT HER BUT KEPT GOING EVEN THOUGH SHE ALREADY HAD A REPLICA. Also not only is this historic because Marilyn wore it, but she wore it to sing happy birthday to JFK of all presidents meaning the last people in direct contact with that dress were literally Marilyn Monroe and JFK so why couldn't this be respected as the historic item it is and even if people want to pretend it wasn't an important piece of history.... Why can't people at the very least respect Marilyn's wishes that NO ONE be able to wear SPECIFICALLY THAT DRESS?!?!?!?!
@@RUBY-nw1xp idk why you reported the last two comments I posted with that same link but I was saying just google it because the designer literally did a recent interview about the dress as well...
THE PEOPLE GAVE KIM A PIECE OF MARILYNS HAIR!!! As a freaking gift like am I the only one who is disgusted by that imagine taking a deceased womans hair and gifting it to someone even in death Marilyn was treated like an object that people could own
@@blacklight310 confirmed, kim said basically that hopefully she accidentally brings back marilyn so i can write a very angry letter to kim being like “you did this to yourself” :P
Ripley probably knew the hair they gave were FAKE ! It was proved their authenticity certificate was fake, (the hair were supposed to be cut by some hairdresser before the Kennedy Birthday party but the bills show it's another hairdresser who prepared Marilyn's hair and didn't cut hair). Ripleys even changed the statement on their website by removing the name of the fake hairdresser after that, but all the screenshots still exist. Also, some of their hair were used for the DNA exam (the documentary about Marilyn's father), and the hair were too damaged to get some DNA. The DNA had been found on the hair coming from the person who cut hair after Marilyn's autopsy when they prepared her body.
And used the actual trophy awarded to Marilyn as an accessory for pictures 🙄 there's 'channeling your inner Marilyn' and then there's being an egotistical rich girl that needs to be told 'no' once in a while
@@rhonafox3805 I’m pretty sure she was told “no” but she probably paid them the museum handlers way more than they make originally, and you know the working class won’t ever turn down half a million dollars because our economy is fucked. Kim took advantage of her wealth and status to boost her own ego, I was actually starting to like her because of the Kayne thing but she’s just as narcissistic as him.
She wore a replica the rest of the day as well. If you were going to spend the MAJORITY of your time there in a replica why go through the trouble of destroying a 60 year old gown that hasn't been worn since the time it was created for someone whose whole body from height to simple measurements? Not only did she ruin the dress physically, she ruined the legacy and most of all value of the dress. To make it worst after she destroyed Marilyn's dress the same people who let her do it gave her a loc of Marilyn's hair. This is bigger than the dress as well. They wouldn't respect her in life and they don't respect in death. Leave Norma be!
I think she wanted to absorb any part of Marilyn's she could get her hands on. It made her feel like she is on the same level as Marilyn lol laughable and sad
@@Hiddenplace414 She wants her aura and immortality which us why she said she wanted to do voodoo on her by using that lock of hair to channel her. She doesn't just want to be on the same level she wants to embody her essence and drain her energy. I really hope she is protected in the spiritual realm and no harm comes to her soul by that vampire.
It’s so disturbing to me and honestly at this point I don’t think Kim was a fan at all, she most likely just wanted to wear the worlds most expensive dress as a status thing and knew drama (publicity) would come along with the dress being a historic piece. I think it’s common sense to know such an aged piece will be extremely delicate and not fit to wear without ruining it, especially when it was made to fit one specific person and your body doesn’t match theirs AT ALL… it’s just all really sad.
Reminds me f that "Ehite House" photoshoot Kim did, dressed like Jackie Kennedy. She really thinks she is all that. She also owns Jackie's real watch that was gifted to her by JFK. These things don't belong into private hands, they have to be taken care of by professionals in museums. Anyway, Kim never pays hommage to anyone but herself.
They better bill her for the damages. Lord knows she can afford the damn damages. Has all the money in the world but looked cheap as hell in that dress. You literally cannot buy class.
Given how poorly it fit Kim, I'm tempted to be extremely petty and argue that with how much of the zipper had to be left open, the word "wear" might be too generous a description for her use of the dress. At the very least, Marilyn is still the only person to have worn the dress the way it was meant to be worn.
Right! We look at the dress and dont see Marilyn anymore we see.. Kim ruining Marilyn's dress. So instead of lookin at it and smiling of marilyn nostalgia u look at it n get kinda pissed cuz.. Kim. Nobody wants to be reminded of a Kardashian when looking at anything. Ever.
I'm annoyed cuz know when I see the dress I think of Kim. And that's the real disgrace here. Kim stuffed herself into something that was uniquely marilyn.
So if Kim ever puts something of hers in a museum and says “don’t touch” - it’ll be debatable and okay for someone to ruin it. It’s not about just the dress- it’s disrespecting a dead persons wishes, it’s disrespecting the morals, it’s disrespecting the value, it’s disrespecting the meaning behind the dress…. But Kim’s rich and rich people unfortunately don’t have to follow rules or care…. It’s why I’m not a fan of the kardashians… they only care about headlines and doing whatever they can to get publicity
It's amazing how Marilyn doesn't even seem to belong to herself, and can't be left to rest in peace. One of the reasons Marilyn Monroe is so prolific and iconic in our modern day media- even when she arguably wouldn't have been so popular in her day, is because of how her estate was handled after her death and even who owns her intellectual properties- Authentic Brands Group, and the Strasberg's capitalized on Marilyn, and a lot of us knew who Marilyn was even before we were exposed to her films because of these media companies. It's so disrespectful that a dress that Marilyn wanted only herself to wear- a dress that she herself was sewn into- has been tainted and devalued. Even the fact that a lock of Marilyn's hair was given as a gift is a disrespect to Marilyn's bodily autonomy. This is a big wtf. Kim basically destroyed a piece of history, but I suppose her narcissism probably told her that her wearing the dress would make it more valuable- and probably persuaded the archivists of the same- but all of us live in the real world, and in reality, the moment Kim put on that dress, it was devalued and destroyed.
"your opinion does not outweigh the importance of history" yes!! so many people think their personal opinion is the most important and its ao annoying lmfao. i do agree that it is just a dress but it is an important piece of history and also kim is literally a billionaire, she could have easily gotten a perfect identical replica that actually fit her. she's so self important and entitled that she just HAD to have the real thing. sigh
Influence and money were and always will be the most important things in this world, I don't understand how they can give fame to people like that, it's sad
They also gave Kim Marilyn's lock of hair like Marilyn's body is some kind of a gift shop. Disrespect is the only word that comes to my mind when I think about this whole situation.
The anger in me because of this dumb broad wearing and breaking such an amazing piece of history. I've started my opinion so many times on so many channels. My heart is fucking broken. People still refuse to respect Marilyn even after she passed. Everyone didn't want her wearing it. I can't believe she did this still. I cried because I'm a big Marilyn lover and to see this upset me highly. She is so selfish and inconsiderate. She claims she adores Marilyn, but yet doesn't know Marilyn wanted a dress for her AND ONLY HER. the color of the dress matched Marilyn's skin tone perfectly and the gorgeous stones were placed accordingly to Marilyns body. This is on Kim. She knew she couldn't fit it and she did it anyway, not caring if it broke. She doesn't care about Marilyn. She wanted to just have attention like she always does. I cannot keep saying this over and over to be completely honest. It just re-breaks my heart every single time.
She has the money to recreate the dress. Or at the very least a version of the dress as to not take away from the fact it's a one of a kind, made for Marilyn dress. She ruined it. A piece of history. It's both Kim's AND the museums fault. Kim should have known this was something Marilyn held dear to her. As it was one of a kind AND SHE WAS SEWN INTO IT. Whats next Judy Garland's red slippers?! I'm so tired of people with money and influence not being told "No" to destroying historical pieces just so they can have their picture taken for 5 seconds.
She had a replica made long before the party had it before she had the option to wear the real dress and blatantly wore anyway when there's no way she would ever be able to fit in it in the first place and was not even on theme at all.
My faith in humanity is zero because of people like Kim who don't care about history and icons in history. I respect Merlyn Monroe being so strong and such a fighter in her life time. Ps: Can't wait for your movies to come out! You are amazing Jessica!
I don’t think it something for a history class. She just a celebrity. They won’t teach something that wasn’t like idk how to put it in words 😭. They’ll teach the wars etc

The only time I have heard her being talked about in class is because my English teacher decided to teach her. Just to demonstrate how to do a cba which is doing a presentation in Ireland for an exam on any topic of your choice. He just had one did on her for an example. I just think everyone being a little delusional acting like she did something impactful enough to be put in a history book. There’s ppl who did stuff that changed life of millions. That dress was important not only cause it was Monroe´s. That dress was a historical piece, as a fashion designer I can´t imagine someone breacking a clothing item that it was made by my hands and also that it was for someone so important on Hollywood. It needed to be in the museum and that´s it. Just like another piece of art.
This dress had no business being a celebrity’s “look at me” moment. Instead of protecting the integrity of the material and rhinestones, they happily turned it over to be destroyed.
My heart breaks for Norma Jean's memory. I actually cried when I saw the damage. This after being forced to spend her death buried next to the creepy man who leaked her nudes in the first place. And also: there's a lot of evidence that she was in the closet and that esp hurts. Her existential pain took her life young and now this...
I didn't like the fact that Kim wore Marilyn's dress cuz her figure would never fit in it properly. There's a video of her trying to get in the dress and she couldn't. (That's why she had the white fluffy coat to cover her back cuz the zip wouldn't close). I never knew that Kim actually broke it. That's a piece of history from an iconic woman just being desecrated for a gala event (no offense to the Met Gala) If Kim knew that the dress couldn't fit her, it wouldn't hurt her to have a dress specially made to look like Marilyn's so the dress wouldn't be ruined (to show that kim was inspired by Marilyn's iconic look). Thanks for the video, never knew the full history of the dress so I learned alot ❤❤
She had a replica made prior to ever having the option of wearing the dress, but wore Marilyn's anyway, the after destroying it she changed into her replica
I guess the way they treat history and make profits out of exhibitions didn't change very much since their beginnings as 'Ripley's Odditorium'. I'm wondering how they ever got people to think that an entertainment business like this has any right to be called a museum.
I’m not that much of a fan of history (although I like learning) and even I know how effing wrong this is without all the facts. It opened the gate to “Oh I’m rich, that means I can do whatever I want, like buy Marylin Monroes’ dress”… honestly 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
omg i am in tears. i thought kim wore a replica this whole time because i didnt think they would actually do something so disrespectful and diabolical. my heart truly breaks for marilyn. i am so hurt by the ignorance or kim and those sorry excuses of so called “historians”. this is utterly ridiculous, words cannot express how angry and hurt this makes me. im infuriated. i am so sorry marilyn.
Those were my same thoughts on all this. Jess, the bottom line is that this has opened a door of destruction and disrespect from this generation onto the next. Nothing is safe, nothing is honored anymore, they are going to take everything and twist it to fit them. Literally. After all, "it was just a boomers dress" ...they keep repeating themselves like they have no thoughts of their own...I hate it so much. know that I respect you so much for vocalizing your concerns about this and I thank you.
Starting with the fact that they are not even the same body shape size!?… like why would you even think it was a good idea to slip into it?… and most importantly, THE DRESS DIDN’T EVEN LOOK GOOD ON KIM.
IMO, the white gloves were security theatre. I watched another professional in the field of preservation say you wouldn't use white gloves because cotton gloves have their own fibers that can catch on the rhinestones and what not.
THANK YOU, Jess- these were the most, THE MOST overdue and most respectful words you could’ve said in tribute for this misconstrued and disrespected human being. I agree- the world needs to let this poor woman rest. It’s about time someone publicly recognized her for who she was inside, the real Norma Jeane.
I just don't see how it was necessary of her to actually wear the original dress. It would have been totally different if she has made a replica which was actually made to match her skin tone and body size. I think it is unfair as that dress holds such significance for woman's rights. The lengths privileged people go to, to justify their actions..it's disgusting 😒
She had a replica made that she ended up changing into after walking up the met gala steps in the og. So she ruined the OG for no reason cause she’s selfish, has no respect for the dead, and just wants photo opps and an ego boost
@@4zn4ngelz How annoying isn't? Insanity! She really cheapened the dress and that's what makes it even worse. What's the point in a wearing Marilyn's gown when she went through the trouble of creating and wearing a replica- like it just doesn't make sense. I'm sorry Marilyn.
It's crazy to me because she slipped into a replica after she said she didn't want to ruin the real one. She could've just worn the replica in the first place.
I am so happy to see part 2. It is so wholesome to see someone who has courage to call others out for doing things like this and not speak with hate but just logic and respect. Agree 100%
On top of the historical aspect, which is EXTREMELY important, they have destroyed someone’s creation, that’s so messed up that’s like vandalizing a painting. It’s just so sad.
As a fellow Marilyn lover. I was absolutely devastated from the start... I agree with you 10,000% on everything you’ve been saying! 😒😞 And with all the money Kim has, all she had to do was recreate it! 🤬🙄
Marilyn was a beauty icon and even the person who made the dress said it should only be worn by Marilyn. Kim has the money to make a perfect replica of Marilyn’s dress that actually fit into Kim’s body but she ruined it for fame. 😡
That dress should have been stored in either the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC or the Anna Wintour Costume Center or even the Smithsonian Museum of American History because Marilyn’s dress is not only a piece of Hollywood and Fashion History but a piece of American History. Kim should not have worn that dress!!!
I like your perspective on all of this. Thank you for giving Marilyn a voice and respect when she cannot speak for herself. Sending endless positive vibes and well wishes xo
I saw the photos and I seriously got a lump in my throat! That wonderful piece of history is pretty much ruined. When I read Kim REQUESTED the dress, I was in awe. The entitlement...
It really bothered me to see Kim wearing it - Marilyn was a trained actress. Kim does not deserve to even look at things that belonged to Marilyn. Marilyn’s story is heartbreaking. I’m not into fashion or celebrity and really didn’t get the Marilyn thing when I was younger…and then I read a book about her. She was a fascinating complex woman.
I feel so sad for Norma Jean because I feel like all her life she looked for love and all those men in her life were infatuated with Marilyn and wanted Marilyn on their arm as a trophy, but didn't care for Norma. 😔 Maybe one day you'll make a video on this subject. 🙂
Women were infatuated with ,objectified, and used her as a trophy too. Hence: this spoiled brat faux celeb talentless pop culture dad fad daughter of a dead Hollywood lawyer and his gold digging wife Kardashian.
Great video, I love your statement, I 100% agree with you on everything you said! And it's funny the part about her voice, I noticed that in her first movies, and also when she gives the Oscar for the best sound for "All about Eve", I love her real voice! Thank you for this video, and also for the previous one about the dress! Love from France!
The ones that don't think it's a big deal and say "it's just a dress" are obviously not Marilyn Monroe fans at all or they would understand why it's so upsetting. Marylin died several yrs before I was born but I'm still a huge fan.
I get a lot of ppl insinuating history doesn’t matter anymore. I always explain it to them, how would u like it if everyone in ur family just never thought of ur mother again after she passes. History is another way of remembering those that suffered, and because of them we now live in a better world and remembering those that brought positive change so that we can sustain it or improve so that that those who passed their efforts were not lost. When history is disrespected or forgotten, mistakes will happen and ppl like Putin take advantage of it.
I’ve just found your channel and you speak so from the heart and bringing all the facts of this upsetting episode that is now history of what happened to Marilyn’s iconic dress, Kim is a wider heavier build in comparison and the dress shoulder straps were digging into her and when looking from the back the tension on them was causing the material to stretch so much it made tight folds as if you pull fabric it makes these folds when Marilyn wore it the straps fell down off her shoulders because she was a whole different body type. The dress was made to fit only her and KK should know all about couture as I’m sure she has many pieces made beautifully and I bet she would hate a personality less untalented women go in her cupboards and squeeze into her best dresses and ruin them. She did know what she was doing and it is obvious she had no care let alone respect for this beautiful dress. Unforgivable and plain old stupid.
tbh i thought it was really cool to wear a genuine dress at first, but after giving it 2 seconds more thought i can't understand why she didn't just get a replica made with the same techniques or something... she can afford to hire some history and sewing professionals lmao. not to mention the rest of the context!! thank you for making these videos, they've really taught me a lot
It’s not even Kim’s fault. It’s the people who LET her have the dress. They could have easily said “ Sorry Mrs.Kardashian but you can not wear this dress” I have a feeling she gave them some money to give her the dress
'Fancy white gloves are just people with gloves on' - funny that such a true, and deep-hitting, quote came from a Kim K video! 😅 In all seriousness, you're correct in saying that just because they're wearing the fancy gloves, doesn't mean they know what they're doing. That has been made laughably obvious by this whole spectacle.
Very unintelligent and selfish choice from Kim Kardashian. In the future Marilyn will gain many more new fans and they deserve to see historical artifacts sadly now the dress is much more damaged.
I watched a video by a person who restores and maintains historical fashion items and even if the dress hadn't been teared from the outside her sweat and body oils would've seeped through the inside and damaged it. I don't care about american politics tbh but it's the fact that a historical piece, that was then REPLICATED, had to be damaged just so that Kim could keep relevancy or something. idek the reason why this was done? PR? Like if she's that desperate for relevancy then she should just ask for a new season of kuwtk.
the most frustrating part for me was the fact that she wore a replica for the majority of the met gala but she did wear the real dress walking up the stairs so why would you put the dress through all of that for literally 5 minutes!?!? if you wanted to wear the dress wear the replica the whole time!!
You put everything I feel so eloquently. I feel so angry about this and sad. Marilyn has been so mistreated in life and in death. Everyone just wanted a piece of her and I’ve always just wished people would look out for her in some way. She had no real family or friends to protect her personal possessions from being sold around and exploited. It’s just sad.
Ripleys should just apologize and say that they were wrong because saying that the dress was not damaged when it clearly is, is not ok and it’s disrespectful to Marilyn. I just don’t understand why she could not wear a replica, sure it would not get as much attention but it’s more respectful to Marilyn and history.
my dad showed me this earlier. im so infuriated 😃 ✨ edit: they gave her a lock of marilyn’s hair, HER GOLDEN GLOBE, and the dress she wore to the golden globe to 😃 ✨ ✨
Well I studied history of costume, feel bad for the garment such elegant piece. Anyway, nice hair Jessica. I'm so into vintage styles after I got into this channel
I was surprised that they would loan out something like that dress. Fabric loses its strength and can easily tear. As you said, it is irreplaceable. It is insane to do things like that. On a different topic, when will we see the Jessica Vill Collection? Since you are into history and love old designs, why not create styles with modern fabrics and release them to the public if you can get a manufacturer to work with you. I know you have the imagination and I like your taste. Maybe I should use another word,. I think you could do it and it might surprise you how many women would like to wear those creations.
The dress did absolutely NOTHING for Kim. Kim’s Mugler wet-look was one of my favorite met gala/red carpet looks of all time. So this is no hate on Kim at all. She looked washed out and the dress looked unremarkable. The saddest thing is that after Kim wore the dress it took on her shape. Marilyn’s imprint is gone forever.
😊 I agree with you nobody should’ve worn that dress and she needs to pay more than just a fine she needs to go to jail and not just for like two weeks to a month
Late to the party but I just found out that Kim wore ANOTHER one of Marilyn’s dresses that Marilyn wore to the Golden Globes in 1962. She changed into it after the Met Gala and posed in it with Marilyn’s actual Golden Globes award for Instagram to “channel in her inner Marilyn.” So infuriating that she thinks she’s entitled and has the “privilege”to treat historical artifacts as dress-up/ cosplay!
I agree with you 100% because like you said Marilyn Monroe didn't ask for the media persona she was manipulated/forced into playing. And not only that when someone is deceased, they definitely deserve respect and for someone to treat her historical garments like that is very disrespectful. Not only do I agree with you, but I am angry with you about this because Marilyn Monroe is one of my lost favorite icons to watch and was my late grandma's too. That is something we used to really bond over and made memories over was watching some of Marilyn Monroe's classics and talking about how much we admired her. The dress looked better on the mannequin than it did on Kim K.
Angry facts:
-The museum said no to Kim TWICE
-she still couldn't fit it (cuz it wasn't hers) but she persisted
-She had a replica of both this artifact AND the other gown Norma "Marylin Monroe" Jean passed over
-As soon as she got off the carpet she changed into the replica she had specifically made for her
-she didn't do it out of respect but to state that she was an icon just like her (SHE WILL NEVER BE)
-you can literally HEAR the tearing as they put it on her
-you can see the damage being done while she is at the met gala
-Marylin AND the artist of the dress both said NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO WEAR THIS DRESS!!!!!!
I was so mad when I heard the tear too, she had a replica and it should had stayed with the replica but she thinks she is an icon like her wtf

Right? I don't even like Kim, I think she's gross. I don't know why people like her so much.
She's unrespectful.
You are perfectly right and that's what I have been saying since it happened. Having now seen the actual damage just made me even angrier. I wonder...if someone in her entourage took something belonging to her without her permission, wore it and ruined it, how would she react?

Not only did she ruin the dress physically, she ruined the legacy and most of all value of the dress. To make it worst after she destroyed Marilyn's dress the same people who let her do it gave her a loc of Marilyn's hair. This is bigger than the dress as well.

I bet she doesn't have to pay a dime. That's why the museum is covering it up
The point is it can’t be repaired! You can no longer get the fabric . This dress is forever destroyed
What makes me upset is that no one can say that Marilyn was the last to wear the dress.
Given how poorly it fit Kim, I'm tempted to be extremely petty and argue that with how much of the zipper had to be left open, the word "wear" might be too generous a description for her use of the dress.
At the very least, Marilyn is still the only person to have worn the dress the way it was meant to be worn.
Any it didn't look nearly as dazzling on her either. It looked bleh on her

I personally think Anna Wintour would have more respect for the dress than Ripley's.
I like your perspective on all of this. Thank you for giving Marilyn a voice and respect when she cannot speak for herself. Sending endless positive vibes and well wishes xo
That humongous (_______)_______) !! I wouldn't want that in my dress. I can hear the tear right now. Riiiiiippppp. 😅
I saw the photos and I seriously got a lump in my throat! That wonderful piece of history is pretty much ruined. When I read Kim REQUESTED the dress, I was in awe. The entitlement...
EXCELLENT VIDEO! YES, she loved history, just like me, and you! Yes, had a deeper voice and loved her comfy clothes, too. You are absolutely correct!😉
It irks me that this iconic dress was destroyed just to satisfy Kims ego. She's so unoriginal can't even make her own moments in fashion.
Maybe one day you'll make a video on this subject. 🙂
Women were infatuated with ,objectified, and used her as a trophy too. Hence: this spoiled brat faux celeb talentless pop culture dad fad daughter of a dead Hollywood lawyer and his gold digging wife Kardashian.

My heart broke into pieces when you showed the after pic 😢
You were absolutely right from the beginning, only no one could have anticipated just how much the damage would be :(
The original zipper is also gone. It's clearly not the same one after "she" put on. Makes my blood boil!
Everything you’ve said in this I completely agree and right when Kim wore it I KNEW it was gonna get ruined :(so unfortunate
The ones that don't think it's a big deal and say "it's just a dress" are obviously not Marilyn Monroe fans at all or they would understand why it's so upsetting. Marylin died several yrs before I was born but I'm still a huge fan.
I completely agree. Thank you for making a statement about this! Also never knew she was a history fan too :)
She only wore that dress to walk up the stairs, after that she changed into a replica she had made because she couldn’t make the dress dirty 😭
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌻🌻🌻🌻🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻well. She has a friend in u. That is thinking about her and defending for.🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
I'm Wide Awake I Love You Jessica. I'm So Sad About The Dress Too. I'm So Glad You Spoke On It.
Ripleys should just apologize and say that they were wrong because saying that the dress was not damaged when it clearly is, is not ok and it’s disrespectful to Marilyn. I just don’t understand why she could not wear a replica, sure it would not get as much attention but it’s more respectful to Marilyn and history.
my dad showed me this earlier. im so infuriated 😃 ✨
edit: they gave her a lock of marilyn’s hair, HER GOLDEN GLOBE, and the dress she wore to the golden globe to 😃 ✨ ✨
she has so much money, why couldn't she just have an exact replica made???? like why, seriously
I think you could do it and it might surprise you how many women would like to wear those creations.
this whole thing genuinely makes me feel physically sick
Can we have a make up tutorial of this look? Like the look you go for for these videos?
The dress did absolutely NOTHING for Kim. Kim’s Mugler wet-look was one of my favorite met gala/red carpet looks of all time. So this is no hate on Kim at all. She looked washed out and the dress looked unremarkable. The saddest thing is that after Kim wore the dress it took on her shape. Marilyn’s imprint is gone forever.
😊 I agree with you nobody should’ve worn that dress and she needs to pay more than just a fine she needs to go to jail and not just for like two weeks to a month
Prison as it's like defacing an art piece, it would be similar to if someone defaced the Mona Lisa
Wtf seriously????
I agree with you 100% because like you said Marilyn Monroe didn't ask for the media persona she was manipulated/forced into playing. And not only that when someone is deceased, they definitely deserve respect and for someone to treat her historical garments like that is very disrespectful. Not only do I agree with you, but I am angry with you about this because Marilyn Monroe is one of my lost favorite icons to watch and was my late grandma's too. That is something we used to really bond over and made memories over was watching some of Marilyn Monroe's classics and talking about how much we admired her. It truly breaks my heart to see this disrespect going on.
Marilyn Monroe don't want anyone to wear it and our Kim Kardashian wore it like HOW ?? She is being very disrespectful also ruined the beautiful dress why just why
it just shows the vanity and lack of respect of "the elite". no one should have let this happen.
I get people arguing "its just a dress" but its not just a dress, its a dress with historical significance.
This seriously broke my heart....
