    Thanks so much for the video. Yours was the only video that showed where to attach the governor spring on the tang as there are several holes to choose from.. It also showed me how to adjust the speed. Thanks again!

    The best! I found the answer that I was looking for a year on UA-cam Video. Thanks! I've reset governor and a lot of repairs, none worked. I found that out myself earlier today. But it's a kind of too late. Engine was surging very high for last 10 months so that engine vibration cracked engine shroud and fuel tank.

    Darren that was a big help. It often gets overlooked that the mechanism arms can get bent by owners ramming the mower under bushes. This video clearly showed me how to bend it back in to shape. The arm above the throttle tang you adjusted for speed was way out west in my case.

    Many thanks for posting this well done video. I had decided to have a look at an old mower of mine (which has exactly that control setup) which I had not used in some years. Because of a missing cover the linkage and tangs had been badly knocked around over the years and I had no idea how the setup was supposed to look in practice. Just one question though if you come across this post. At rest (ie not running) is that governor spring loose or will it begin stretching as soon as the governor arm moves backwards. The one on my mower is pretty slack and the governor arm moves a good amount before it starts pulling on the spring.

    Hey! Thanks for this video. When I adjust my RPMs, the vibration causes the spring to flop around and no matter what I do, I can't keep the RPM at a reasonable speed - it wants to max out every time. Is there any tension that is supposed to be pulling back on the spring? The linkage just flops about. This all started when I replaced the flywheel key and I wonder if I lost a spring at the back where the linkage connects to a lever?

    I hope this will help some of you out. I have included a parts list complete with numbers in the description of mentioned parts in the event that you are missing or have any damaged parts.

    Is the choke open or closed when the mower is off? When does the governor lever pull back and close the choke on this carb? I can't get my mower to start and I think it's because the choke won't close? Any advice would be appreciated. I have the same carb as the one in the video. Thanks

    I've got a 2015 Murray 5.00 -140cc B/S. It boggs when cutting 3" grass. I've cleaned the carb, fuel tank, fuel filter, new spark plug, NEW gas cap. I clamped the brake handle and it ran just fine for 5 minutes and started to cut my grass, and I have the same damn issue. I looked at the mechanism for the choke and it looks like I'll have to take the flywheel off to get at an arm/linkage that is vertical in the engine. Is there an easier way, am I missing something ... besides a decent repair manual? Thanx in advance.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH (I Subscribed in appreciation...looks like I'm your first sub too!!!) This helped part of my problem (low rpm) but my mower is still surging up and down. The plate the linkage connects to shakes around quite a bit, is that normal? My mower has the metal cover where your black plastc piece is and doesn't have the red decorative part but the engine seems the same. This mower gets a lot of abuse as the yard is very sandy & rocky with a lot of pinecones, acorns, old leaves, needles, sticks, bark bits, woody weeds/young saplings being mowed. It was left behind by previous owners so I dont know a lot sbout it. It starts on first pull & was running good until I mowed a pretty overgrown area and hit a good sized stick (approx 1.5" diameter) that was laying under some leaves in thick bushes and stalled the mower. It started right back up but rpm was significantly lower. I finished mowing (an area with super thin grass and put it away....it wouldn't start this weekend so I took it apart at carb and cleaned everything really well, now itstarts on first pull but idles very rough.... any ideas?

      if it is surging while running take another look at the carb again you could have missed a jet or air passage way while cleaning do this and get back with me and let me know the result.

    Yes why do you not have throttle cables over there on your mowers ? When you stop to empty the catcher , I like to bring the mower back to idle while I empty , then refit the catcher . I was hoping to see how to adjust the internal governor on this model. We have throttle cables on our mowers and it is so much better than having 1 set speed .

    Hello. You video was helpfull but I still have a strange problem. When the mower starts ,it will run ok but as soon as you move or push it, it goes full throttle. Is it possessed? I think so! I have never seen this problem before, and I:m old. lol

    Hi Darren, I have similar engine, moving the throttle its normal length does nothing to engine RPM, I move the governor arm almost 1/2 past high throttle before engine revs - any thoughts ?
    thanks

    The problem with this is that the lowest speed (idle) is now too high.

  • @norge696

    Best to buy a tachometer so you can dial in the RPM to 3,000.

    • @DARRENWALKERBIGD
      @DARRENWALKERBIGD  4 роки тому

      This is true guess I have been doing it so long I can tell by ear but you are right a tach is always better.
