- I explored Welligama with my friends @GoWithAli , @travisfein ,@LukeDamant and @worldnomac . I started off by having a $0.30 lemonade drink which was surprisingly nice, even though it looked like seawater! I then went body surfing with the boys and lost my sunglasses before heading to a more local area with Ali where we roamed around searching for the best thing to do!

I think the shop was just a grocer shop but he took the trouble to cut the pineapple , wash it and serve you ,also opening a new packet of salt to add to the taste .He had difficulty in finding a knife and looking for a place to cut it as he didn’t have a proper board to place it . I am happy you enjoyed the pineapple which was blended with that man’s kindness ❤️

Hey Hari try pineapple with salt and pepper or chili powder. It’s amazing.. the reason we Sri Lankans have a lot of salt is because we perspire due to the heat and do lose some sodium. So, a supplement in this manner is easier to consume…

It's not a scam for the shirt...We could buy that for Rs.1200-1500 in the local markets(Not expensive malls/shops ,Somewhere like in pettah market-Colombo)..So in a touristic place definitely they're is a add on regardless of whether you are local/tourist...😊

In Sri Lanka the water is clean. They would not drink it any other way. Generally Sri Lankans are clean although they throw Garbage here and there. Even cooking is clean they always wash the vegetables before cooking. Even meat they wash it many times, which is not so good when dealing with neat.

That green coloured fruit drink you had was Sri Lankan green oranges. They are less sweet and more sour than other oranges and that’s why that use more sugar and salt in those drinks. The other smaller fruit is Sri Lankan mandarins. Enjoy.

The price for the shirt is reasonable, the same shirt at the clothing mall will cost around Rs 2500. You will be spending about 25 pounds if it's from Amazon UK.

Brothers pineapples, bananas, mangoes and papaya are bound to sri lankans life. We make curries, fruit salads, juices, milk shakes, pickels, chutneys... Out of them. U shd try out sri lankan fruit salad one day. (definitely with scoop of vanilla ice-cream...!)
Before moving to England when I was little, I never knew the sea would be cold even in the summer in cold countries because the sea is warm all year round in Sri Lanka.
First time I went to the beach in Cornwall one summer, I was shocked and disappointed because the water was freezing! I later learnt that the sea is cold even in warmer Mediterranean countries during the summer. So I understand why you expected the sea to be cold haha. You got the good surprise and I got the bad surprise 😂

You could also try Mirissa, and Polhena beaches. Not very far away. Fun fact, if you look due south from any of these beaches there is no land between you and Antarctica. Salt in lime, lemon or orange juice in freshly prepared juices is to compensate for fluid loss due to the heat. Salt and chilli is also very good on fruit! Your friends face tasting the pineapple was a treat! Those are genuine free range turkeys! There are also wild peacocks that live along that coast…

Weligama is a beautiful costal area in Sri Lanka . I’m originally from Negombo . Me and my family spent 1 month in waligama back in 2019 . We went to the market in the town surprisingly the fruits and the vegetables were extremely fresh and the seafood are to die for!! . The town is known for its golden sandy beaches and its a tourist hot spot for surfing. People were friendly too!!
I think the price of the shirt is fair if it's fairly better quality stitching and all. This will be the price for even for a local tourist.
This sort of branded shirt in a local department store in Colombo can be even high.

Hi Master, I have been to 15 different countries, but nowhere found such a beautiful, awesome pineapple-like in Sri lanka, we Sri Lankan mix pinch of salt to many citric fruits then it gives wonderful taste when you go back home try with strawberries, kiwi and even with green apple you will be surprised, try Sri Lankan red papaw/papaya with a bit of lemon, Good luck enjoy the southern beaches, take care some area have dangerous currents

We may not have native sweet pineapples that grew in Sri Lanka for many centuries in the past.. They may be extinct like the sweet round shaped organic Sri Lankan native papayas that vanished after the “red lady” and other genetically modified foreign brands were introduced and commercially grown by foreign companies as well by locals. . Stinlankan papayas had very shin skins like onion peels and were not hard or bitter near the skin. Green but sweet oranges native to Bibile and many other varieties of fruits disappeared with the introduction of imported fruits of many varieties, Local organic fruits of many shapes, sizes and flavours are rapidly disappearing in Sri Lanka due to deforestation, building construction snd planting of non native varieties that over power the unique native species. Soon hundreds of varieties of bananas, and mangoes may also become some known as plantains, may be extinct due to clearing land by trillion dollar global companies that grow genetically modified fruits on a large scale using the rich soil and cheap land snd labor to export to the global market ignoring rare native varieties

Hey Harry that water he used to clean the pineapple was from his drinking water bottle I think. And here in Sri Lanka most of the water is clean. Most of the people use pure spring water and others in towns get their water from central water supply. So do not worry. Love your content BTW

Harry, since you are in Weligama, I suggest swimming in Polhena beach, not too far from Weligama towards further south, close to Mirissa.
Sri Lanks has only three natural pools, like swimmable beaches with no waves due to coral reefs. The best is Passikuda but slightly deep; Polhena is my choice because it has water up to waist high and has a large area for safe swimming. I guarantee you all will enjoy swimming there.
