Spent 30 years as a dealership tech.Best advice I can give is save and invest money to get out by 50 years old.You can still be healthy enough to enjoy life without a bad back and other health issues.I'm 57 and retired 7 years ago....loving life!

All great advice! I'm a plumbing contractor and most everything you said applies. Young guys need to listen to you! Looking forward to next episode. If I can add anything it would be about
collecting money. You can't be lackadaisical, sometimes you have to be a pit bull because some people will always put you last on their list to be paid. At least you can hold the car until you receive final payment, most customers are great, but some require extra persuasion to pay their bill.

@@dragbiker1 Thanks so much. You bring up a great point. I’ll mention this and other comments in a future episode for sure. Collecting money can get difficult for sure. It’s all about putting the right documentation in place and setting clear expectations for both parties. Thanks again

I wanted to disagree but the more I heard the more i saw my mistakes with my first shop. I will say that yes working on your own at first should be the way to go, but efficiency will go down. You have to work round the clock. I did it for four years and I grew a little but got burned out because I didn't hire correctly and people expected ONLY ME to touch their bike...so other business aspects failed. Every story is different but it is a commitment that at the time I was not into anymore.
