Wow, everything looks so well established for only 2nd year. I'm so big into perennials this year. Everything you have is exactly what I'm looking for. I love these choices and not just because of the foilege but I love purple. I'm not a yellow fan but you have changed my mind. It actually makes everything pop even more. I love things I know will come back year after year. I love that you give exact names and descriptions. It's so helpful when going to a nursery. Thank you for sharing.🤗
Thank you. I think the same thing. The plants have done so well for being in year 2!! I am thankful for that! Yes that yellow really really does make things pop doesn’t it!! Thank for watching
This is one of the best gardens on UA-cam! What a great use of reliable perfect flowers and colors. I will be saving this video to mimic some of what you've put together!
Wow. I’m doing this…I have many of those plants and you did a nice job combining them. I m so delighted with your channel. Keep it up. We depend on excellent content as some of us need your inspiration.
Love the yarrow! It is on my list to add to my garden. It looks spectacular with the Stachy's Hummelo. I may need to add that too! Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden!
I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm planning a couple of new mixed beds, and there were several perennials I've added to my list after watching this video. I love pinks, purples, and lemony yellows. No red, thank you. Your channel is very refreshing. So many gardening channels are simply trying to make money, and I get so tired of them pushing products that are expensive, but vastly over-rated. I appreciate your focus on the plants and not $$.
I agree with all of your choices and have most of them in my Massachusetts zone 6 garden. I would add Foxglove and hardy geraniums because they do so well in my part shade. I love how you plant in large swaths of color! Beautiful design!
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn look what you did!!!…….. you even have me loving yarrow which is a plant that never spoke to me…… until your video! I’m so excited seeing yours and its beauty so thank YOU 😁
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn I’m just curious, I’m growing sunflowers and they are sprouting in Texas, but I notice something is eating the leaves because there are holes in the leaves. Will they still grow? Also, what can cause this and how do I stop it from happening?
From what I know it could be the sunflower moth which is the major common pest of sunflowers. Stem weevils, seed weevils, stalk girdlers, and thistle caterpillars are occasional pests. As long as they are not eating every single leaf and devastating your plants, I think your sunflower should be OK. You would need to go out and look turn the leaves over and see if you can find anything that is munching on them. I dont use anything that could harm bees and butterflies so my method is to go out and pull the critters off. It all depends on how much or how large your crop is.
Your garden is truly a haven for nature's beauty. I can't wait to try some of these perennials in my own garden and see the vibrant colors and thriving wildlife they bring. Keep up the fantastic work, and I look forward to more gardening tips from you!
Such an informative video. Thank you for taking the time to articulate their attributes and also the zone! I'm a zone 4 here in Montana and so many pretty things can't make it here - but you spotlighted lots for me to glean from!

Hi, I'm a new sub loving your style of beautiful drifts in your perennial garden! Also your love your informative presentation of each variety. Great video for beginner to seasoned gardeners.
Beautiful! Interesting you said daisies aren’t reliable for you because for us in Illinois zone 5b they’re like weeds and keep spreading very aggressively. They’re beautiful and easy to grow though so we have to be grateful still.
Yes!! that Hummelo is just a nice upright plant isn’t it. And yes….yarrow can flop but if put next to other upright plants can just mingle in so pretty 😊
Thank you so much for wonderful video ; Possible to have each flowers name to show on your screen, so we can try growing them. Keep up your good work and looking forward to see more you your videos. ALOHA !
Your gardens are so beautiful. I have just started a perennial garden this year for our bee hives but am really getting discouraged with all the weeds. Don't know how you keep up with them. 🤩
Love all of your flowers! I especially love the hot pink single stems and tried to understand what you were saying. Tried to find it. Could you tell me what it is? Stakies??
Stachys Hummelo aka Betony. I have all of the plants listed in the description of this video as well if you might find it helpful! Thanks so much for your question. I hope you can find this for your garden!
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawnGreat! Thanks for letting me know. I looked for names but I guess I just didn’t know exactly where to look. I do appreciate your answer. 👏🏻😝😊
What a great video! I am trying to find a shorter yarrow for my small garden. Something that doesn’t flop over. The majority of my plants are native to North America or nativars. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance! P.s. Iam in Canada zone 5b
That’s a tough one because It tends to grow tall and flop in moist and rich soil, hot weather or when too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied. Have you cut it back after it blooms to make it more compact and rebloom? Last year this yarrow not flop at all. I have moonshine yarrow. I would say it is mid middle of the road as far as height in a Yarrow. However, we have had an incredibly wet spring, and my Yarrow is super tall this year. I am certain it’s going to flop this year. Once it’s done blooming, I will cut it back and that will help.
most all plants are doing bad right now it's triple digit weather where i live i water every day too, but as soon as i put them in the shade they improved dramatically...
Just found you and subscribed. What state are you gardening in. I am new to gardening now that I am retired so hopefully I will get some pointers from you for my zone 5b area. You may already have videos that cover the subject but it would be helpful to hear if the plants are drought tolerant and what maintenance is needed during and after the growing season
Welcome! So glad your here. I’m in Wisconsin zone 5. And that’s a great idea. I’m going to do a video on care and end of season maintenance!! Really just about everything so grow is easy care. No fertilizer, water during drought and cute back to the ground in spring. Thanks again for the suggestions!!
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn Thanks Dawn. I am in Colorado where it is very dry so drought tolerant plants or xeriscape plants are what I am trying to learn about for a front garden I am working on right now.
Echinacea is easy to grow from seed but requires a cold, moist period-called stratification-in order to germinate. I’ve also done a few of my prairie plants. Great idea for another video tho. Thank you!!
Thank you!! I’m so happy it inspired you. I purchased these as plants from a wholesale seller. But you can ask your local garden center to order these for you.
My coneflowers get eaten in the night ? do you think it might be chipmunks/squirrels and not the rabbits I have been blaming, is it possible the yarrow scares away the critters from the coneflowers
Depends on how big are they when they get eaten? If they’re really tall and someone’s eating them it’s probably the deer or if it’s when they’re short and popping out of the ground it’s probably the rabbit. Try spraying it with the deer rabbit repellent. It stinks when it’s wet it does dry so you don’t smell it but it does work well with the deer and rabbit here. I do feel that if you mix flowers in like cone flowers with like a yarrow or something that deer absolutely don’t touch in your yard, you have a better chance. You know you’re kind of blending them in so to speak.
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn I have a large patch of yarrow, I don't know the name. It's a dark pink with some white. We've had a tone of rain and it's all splayed out and flopped. Looks bad and it's toward the end of it's peak bloom. So I was thinking of shearing it back to clean it up.....
Stem rot, powdery mildew and asters yellow are the most common coneflower disease. Do not overwater them. They are pretty good with drought resistance. Are they getting 6 hours of sunlight at least?
Love your gardens. Thanks.
