I love your gardens. We have been getting lots of rain here in zone 6b high desert in north eastern New Mexico. Many of my plants are spent like my yellow yarrow , nepata and salvia. You inspired me to re-design those plants and I’m looking forward. Thank you for posting your beautiful garden.
Thank you so much. I am so happy to provide inspiration. You are probably much warmer than I am so I can see you why some of your things are probably done. Summer just goes by so fast.
Hi Dawn! It has been a strange summer here in zone 8B-too hot and humid followed by lots of rain and humidity and so many flowers and plants haven’t been happy! It was too hot to garden or plant anything new; just maintain what we have. Your garden is soooo beautiful but you too have had weather to deal with. Saw your new video up on your channel and I will watch it now since catching up with you. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your garden and home!
Hello Janice!! That does not sound like fun. I really do not like summers like that. We had a pretty good year with lots of rain which most plants like. Hopefully next summer is better for you.
I am in Minneapolis Minnesota zone 4. And you are right, it did seem to rain every other day. But not at end of July not as much rain and we could use some. Your gardens are beautiful.
Absolutely breathtaking ❤️I found it very interesting that you burn the prairie. Can you do a video talking about it. I would love to see you do it. I think it would be interesting if you could explain it and share that with us.
Great suggestion. I was thinking about doing that this year but was not able to get the video. Unfortunately, we only burn every several years! But with photos and information I might be able to put something together. Thanks again for this suggestion.
I'm in New England and we have had weeks of very hot very humid weather. Not a ton of rain. I have needed to water daily. My little limes are just about ready to bloom. I also saw my first dahlia pop open today.
Thanks for taking us on a tour Dawn. I love your garden. You should be very proud of of the beautiful results of your hard work. In Alberta Canada we had lots of rain this spring for a welcome change but have to get the hose out now in the heat. Im thinking of adding so many perennials after seeing them in your garden. I think the moonshine yarrow is top of my list to find. Good luck with your open day. Wish I was closer.
Thank you so much for the nice comment. You would love the moonshine Yarrow. I just think it is such a great addition to my garden, especially paired with the Stachys Hummelo! Hope you get some rain and a little relief from the heat soon!!
Yes I love a mix if annuals and perennials. Obviously the perennials out number the annuals by a lot. But I do enjoy changing things up and annuals are the way to do that. Some I grow from seed too.
Oh my gosh, I have them here too! I think it’s because of all the rain is so wet!! Occasionally I’ll pick up a damp towel in the house and one will be in there. I hate it.!!
I love your garden . Always looking forward to your videos. I live in the Pacific Northwest Zone 8b. It's summer and my roses are in full bloom and the daylilies. We have had a very hot summer this year and I am constantly watering the hostas and hydrangeas. Looking forward to your video of the coming garden tour.
Gorgeous as always! Everything is so lush! I'm in a pocket of very dry and hot weather in southern PA, just a few miles from western MD. Our yards are crispy and brown! I have to constantly water my gardens with a sprinkler! Thank you for sharing the beauty you've created!
Thank you so very much. I always find the weather so frustrating. Some parts of the country are getting no rain and other parts are getting way too much. Why can’t it just get spread out evenly? I know what that brown lawn looks like!! And I also can appreciate the amount of watering one has to do when you’re in a drought. Hang in there. Hope you get rain soon.
Hi Dawn! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful gardens with us…you have such a gift for layering, complementary color combos and planting in mass! ❤ At the 7:12 mark, what’s the variety of that lovely blue tall garden phlox?
Absolutely stunning garden! We have had a shocking summer in Scotland so far so a lot of plants are struggling and stunted but hey ho, there is always next year!
Gorgeous gardens! In Kentucky, it was nothing but rain in the spring but since early June, it’s been extremely hot and very dry. It’s definitely been a frustrating year in the garden but that seems to be the way of the weather anymore. We just have to make note, and edit to keep up with the weather changes.
Hello and thank you. Yes agree it’s been such a strange gardening season so far. We had rain every other day up until just this week. Now, I wonder if we’re in for the hot and dry month. But you’re right what you gonna do!!
Your garden is beautiful! I always look forward to your garden tours. Here in Minnesota we have had a lot of rain too! Everything in my flower gardens are doing very well, but my vegetable garden doesn’t like all the moisture! It will likely be drier in July. Thanks for sharing!!
Hi Dawn! Your gardens are absolutely stunning!! 😍 So wish I lived closer to WI so I could tour your beautiful property in person. What’s the variety of the purple salvia at 3:37? It’s such a deep purple…just gorgeous! Also, did you end up removing the burlap and cage from your new Eastern Redbud tree? I also noticed the root flare isn’t exposed or did I just miss it? I’ve learned that making sure the root flare is exposed and not covered by mulch is very important for tree health. Happy gardening! 🌿👒🪴
Hello!! The salvia is Wesuwe. Yes we removed part of the cage and burlap and rope. The root ball is enormous and heavy so the lower portion of the cage and burlap are still there. Otherwise we’d disrupt the root ball and that’s not good. I’m thinking it’s why they are telling people to leave it on. And yes definitely the flair is exposed. Correct very important!! Thanks for the comments 😊
So Beautiful Dawn! You are such a talented gardener. We are in a drought here in Virginia so we have lost some flowers and plants and the grass is brown which is unusual. Fingers crossed we will get some highly anticipated rain today!
Same here in Delaware zone 7B. We’ve been in a drought as well and just getting out of a week long heat wave with extremely oppressive humidity! 🥵 But finally got some rain ☔️ today, just not enough! Did you get your rain today?
We take a gallon of water, jalapeno, whole garlic crushed, chili powder, Chyenne pepper and simmer it on the stove for 1hr. Strain let cool then mix in 2 beaten eggs. Set in the sun for a 1 or 2 days. Put in sprayer and apply to hostas or flower that the deer like. So far it been working. Reapply after a rain. Got this recipe from a fellow gardener

You have an amazing garden. I agree with you that plants have gotten so big this year. I’ve had so many of them flopping but my containers so as well. What’s the name of the allium in the garden at the greenhouse? Do you stake your hydrangea hedge?
Beautiful as always!! We are in a severe drought in my area, 6b south central Kansas. Question, do your Stachys Hummelo rebloom? Mine do not and have a very short bloom life. They are one of my favorites.
My Fad is in Wichita and they are dry too. I hate the drought. Sorry to hear that!! IF I deadhead immediately they will throw up a few more blooms but I have not found them to be strong rebloomers like my salvia or Nepita.
