The pain of it happening along with the continued migraine is awful, but then how they remove it from your eye is horrifying. Happened to me while walking past roadworks, didn't even realise it happened, until the pain still didn't go away days later.

First, your eyeball doesn't feel anything. It has NO nerves. It is all the tissue around it. My brother had a paintball hit his eye years ago and it detached his retina. he had surgery and his Doctor told him this. So does GLASS and Gas hurt. Had both in my eyes before. Learned a valuable lesson about using SAFTEY GLASSES!!!

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 4 роки тому

I've had to have things removed from my eyes even USING safety glasses....I was cutting concrete one time and couldn't react quick enough and I saw a small piece of grit fly up, bounce off my cheek, bounce off the inside of my safety glasses and into my eye. It was stuck so I couldn't rinse it out, had to make a quick dash to the clinic....dye drops to highlight debris and he found it right away and a flick of a swab and it was out. I've also had to have small pieces of rusty metal removed, they used a magnet that time.
I had cataract surgery on both eyes, now THAT'S a bizarre experience all around and the doc was a freaking butcher.....

    • @kene6838
      @kene6838 4 роки тому +2

Bruce Shepherd keep a good powerful magnet in your shop, wrap a thin T-shirt material around it and when you get a piece of metal in it just touch it to your eye and save a trip to the ER or just a lot of pain. Guarantee it works great. Wet the material first.

Having read the comments have to agree, this young man cannot be faulted for his work effort and skill sets to date , just because you have the ability to know where to kick something to make it work does not mean you understand the forces applied, that give you that . Instead of kicking this guy for his short fallings in being able to mathematically work out lateral forces and moments of force etc etc etc, explain in layman’s terms that if you try to put this amount of horsepower and weight through the gut felt correct way he is doing it it’s going to be a train wreak . I have the utmost time and respect for him and would be proud to be able to help rather than as some of you are doing just kicking the guy stand up or ship out

Vtuned, if that is ultra high strength steel (typically 22MnB5 boron steel) for the shock tower cap, it is a beast. I am in the business we will say......The manufactures that use this type of steel has to use lasers to cut all the holes after it is drawn on the hot stamping dies due to the severe strength, it breaks/wears out the punch dies within a couple tries. I am not a fabricator or a chassis engineer, but the last thing you will do is rip that steel, the mating steels will fail or the welds, but not high strength steel. Take a file and see if you can cut the steel and compare vs some mild steel, you should see a very noticeable difference. You shouldn't be able to do much of anything if that is 22MnB5. Don't let the keyboard warriors place doubt in what your doing. Just do your own research and keep on posting videos, love the channel.

Your balls deep in brass soup but the willpower of youth and not worrying how many engineers it took to make a original frame. Your past experience in lining up rigs can't hurt either. You know that one of the greatest engineers in the whole world, and father of this creation.. Henry said: Whether you think you can or you think you can't.... your right. I know that this will work as nothing is set in stone till the final coat of paint is on and your driving it. I got out of my comfort zone when I did a graft from new to old on a ford as well as I put a king ranch interior and the wiring in a 76 f250 highboy right down to the dash and it had to get help with all the radio and electronics .... I didn't get perfect and it would embarrass me when I turned something on and it didn't happen but I got a 98 % on all the stuff installed and looking like it belonged there. I know now that the rig your fixing can't be in too good of shape as rust was a real enemy and it looked so good to start with that "what could go wrong" kinda did in the command center... I sold to another person who I couldn't hire and he did finish it an a magazine print out... gave me "honorable mention" which is better than lemon soup.

You are so impressively good with tools and fabrication. And what you set out to do is amazingly difficult. Ford had a stable of engineers with experience and access to a tremendous library of car fabrication. You can hardly be expected to do what they had decades to do and millions of dollars to support. I get the feeling that you haven’t planned far enough in advance to accomplish the task you’ve set. But I sure enjoy watching you do it and cannot wait to see the end result.

I’m probably gonna catch crap for this but what you’re doing / how you are building the chassis is unsafe at best and a disaster waiting to happen at worst.
I’ve been in this industry since graduating Wyotech on March 25th 2005. I’ve worked in many shops and own my own shop so I know a lil bit.
Do NOT use those shock tower apron tops like that! It’s going to rip away where the pipes are welded to the apron.
A unibody car works by using the strength of all the sheet metal parts. While the apron piece is made of two piece of sheet metal it’s not going to be enough in your setup.
You need to use the apron to fabricate some at least quarter inch steel plates that you build into a box.
As for how you are measuring and placing the suspension components in a three dimensional space it’s going to be off no matter how you measure it.
That will lead to a best case scenario of the steering tracking wrong and hopefully just causing rapid tread wear on the tires but is more likely that it will be off enough for the all the stress and forces put on it going down the road cause it to collapse and fold up under the car or splay out and rip apart.
Building a new tube chassis and suspension is not something you can just get kinda close it needs to be exact.
You need to use a chassis jig table. It can be purchased or you can easily build your own. Either way it’s the only safe way to build tube chassis suspension.
I don’t know where you’re located but I could come assist if necessary.
This is life and death please consult a local chassis fab shop. ✌️

So easy for everyone to sit back and tell you what they think about this, all these armchair engineers telling you its gonna fall apart.
I don't think its gonna fall apart, I do think if that geometry isn't perfect and you have to move it.. it will be A LOT of rework, but nothing you can't handle. To potentially save some future headaches, you might consider using that other white mustange to build a jig that mounts to both shocktowers and 2 or 3 points of the suspension and engine. Then bolt that jig up to youre parts and you'll know exactly where everything is supposed to go. Just a thought dude.
I also think all these naysayers that are judging before you have even finished re-inforcing just want everyone to know how smart they are.
Keep up the hard work dude, don't let people discourage you, and don't give up.
Can't wait to see what you accomish man & thanks for the content.

You will want your shock caps sitting at the exact same relative locations and angles on the your tube framing that they were on the stock mustang for front end alignment. I'm not sure this would work because I haven't tried it but it might be better to get the front end on the wheels, position them for alignment and then weld your caps in solid while holding the wheel alignment so it doesn't move around.
I understand that you're not done cutting in the reinforcing and bracing tubes for bracing on this but the shock caps do need to be welded on all 4 sides so you need tube or plate on all 4 sides. Even with those big frame rails, unless you cross brace them on the inside in addition to the engine cradle well they are going to flex where you have your up tubes. It needs a front engine cross member made out of the same dimension box steel as the frame rails to stabilize the frame rails. The feet of your up tubes need to have plate welded to them and then those plates need to be seam welded inside your frame rails in addition to welding them to the sides of the frame rails. If you don't do that the feet will want to kick out because there is nothing down there holding the bases in place.
Basically, you need to think cage instead of just bars as you are building this. Considering how much power you are planning I think anyway that it needs a full cage architecture.
You may already have planned all this out and just don't have the time to go through it all at once and if so just consider what I wrote to be redundant, LOL. I am glad to see that you got what I call the engine cradle.

@Vtuned I think 🤔 you got it mostly figured out. But and this is a big But......Since you’re using tube steel anyways, why don’t you weld and build a steel birdcage for the shock to mount into? Build the square cage to take the place of that flimsy thin metal shock tower. Build the bird cage or square box for the shock to fit up inside of with L channel steel and put a steel plate in it for the shock to bolt to. Weld it all together with the tube steel and it will be very strong.
That flimsy thin metal shock tower really concerns me on the strength especially at high speed and torque and really putting it under pressure with turns at high speeds. I really think 🤔 it’s not going to hold up under pressure the way you are building it now, not the shock towers you cut from the other car. So I think you’ll be better off and safer to build the bird cage steel with a strong steel plate to mount the shocks to with it all welded into the tube steel frame.
But that’s only my opinion & they like assholes everyone has one, some just stink worse than others do ! 😂🤣

If you know anything about metal, the strongest metal is a continuous corner, which is what pipe/tubing is. When vtuned is through with this build, I suspect that it will be properly built, reinforced and will hold up great. There’s a reason that many many dragsters use tubular frame setups. A tubular frame setup will withstand a lot more torque/force than a regular frame can. Watching this young man build everything else that he has built leaves me confident that he will be as persnickety with this job as he is with all of the others. Kudos to all concerned, but trashing his work on this frame, which is in very early stages only makes YOU look bad. Cheering for him to fail makes you look even worse. If you don’t like him, go watch another channel, but I assure you that there will always be something you won’t like anywhere you go, because you don’t have the gumption to start your own channel. Keep going, vtuned. Excited to see the FINAL finished project.

I agree, you can not wing this. It becomes dangerous. My son has a master's in mechanical engineering. In collage, he designed and, with the nova, as in Villanova engineering, racing team, built a comprehensive, and complimentary tube chassis for a 3/4 scale formula one car, as well as everything incorporated into making a race car like that, including designing and
making the differential. It's design, it's solid works computer imaging to see where and how things fit. It does not allow for winging it. I know you have a lot of God given talent, but in this instance, it takes an engineering degree to make it happen. Make all of the mistakes on the computer, not real life man hours and material. Your taking a different approach, but it likely will fail in some way. You need to do the geometry before the first cut is made. Just friendly advice. I admire your tenacity though.

I know of shops where not wearing eye protection has caused traumatic brain injury. A one eyed shop boss would hit you hard with a rubber mallet if he ssen you cutting or grinding without eye protection.
Now my brother that built ships m1a1 tanks Kenworth and peterbuilt trucks would shortcut and not wear eye protection. By the time he was in his 40s he had cateracts and had to wait until his late 50s until they were able to replace the lenses in his eyes . He still didn't learn so when he gets a splinter in a eye now he must go to one hospital and have the lenses removed and be driven to a second hospital to have surgery to repair the damage. He wears a patch for a couple weeks and must be tied face down at night with his head in a pillow that looks like a toilet seat so he doesn't touch his eyes while they heal. His name is John but we call him Mr Magoo's stupid brother or dumb ass for short. Wear fucking eye protection every fucking time

I am a retired eye doc and I literally cringe every time I see these young guys grinding metal without eye protection. I lost track of how many thousands of shards of metal I have removed from the cornea, conjunctiva, and inner lids. All it takes is ONE pair of inexpensive safety goggles and accidents can be prevented.

A few years ago I was working on some industrial machinery and a fragment of steel swarf blew off the frame and although I had eye protection on it drifted past the glasses into my eye. Although I had eye protection on I should have had proper goggles on or a shield. The fragment of swarf was removed in A&E 2 days later but had rusted an damaged the eye. So had another operation to remove the clouded part of my cornea. So you really nee eye protection and the right type of protection for the area your are working.

Nice work. V I have one of the metal cutting saws, those little Curly Q's shavings that come off are nasty, they are hot and sharp, you got to wear safety glasses when you run that thing. Anything else I'll give you a pass, but those chips are serious shit if you gets in you eye. You can probably do this stuff with one eye and a hand tied off, but two is always better.

Guys, I've read the comments and I know the concerns raised here. I stated every single point that's been brought up before. Granted he has intuitive knowledge of how things work, but there's specialized areas he's not qualified to be working in . You can't just start welding tubes together and call it a frame. You need to learn the basics first. Suspension geometry , and welding are absolutely critical. You also have to have a design to begin with .

    A couple of tips.
Cut and bend your long pieces first if you can. If you muck them up you can always make them shorter.
Use safety gear. Guards on tools. Eye protection, hearing protection, skin protection and dust protection. The last one might protect you from a nasty virus. Yes I know it can be uncomfortable but it might mean you can enjoy what you are doing for longer.

I'm no expert but I'd be amazed if that setup is going to be strong enough. Maybe i'm underestimating the power of welds.....but that outer large piece of tube coming down into the front part of the frame just welded at the notch just won't hold under any up and down stress from the wheel/bumps. I like the drilled holes into the frame for the tubing though.....but overall this setup makes me kinda nervous.
