This makes me take the Maxx out for a spin finally, I've got it for three years and never used it 😂 I even have a bag full of aftermarket parts for it, I'm a tank guy before anyone jumps to conclusions, and the last king tiger took me almost 7 years to finish
I've always recommended the Traxxas Stampede for beginners, even before they came out with the 4x4 version (yes i'm that old. remember the grasshopper?) Its always been a great basher and all around fun truck.
I'm going to buy the Stampede 4x4 VXL soon. I wanted the Hoss but I found they stopped making the Hoss. The specs are the same (wheelbase) as the Hoss. I wanted the Hoss but the Stampede is the next best thing IMHP. 🤙
So I'll try to make this one a little quicker. Now I'm looking for a new happy feels rush. I got a maximum of like 375, can push it to 400 if I gotta. I've been looking at those Redcat lowriders for a minute now. Can get the little bit cheaper brushed 79 Monte Carlo in the top end of my budget. I went to Redcat's site to see if there was a deal on it. there wasn't.. But.. the, from what I've heard and seen, extremely capable RDS rear wheel drift car is normally $399, on sale right now for $239! The 1:8 6s Kaiju in on sale for $369 "$10 cheaper than the lowrider" OR I also discovered the Valkyrie, which is a 1:10 monster truck, that's kitted out as if it were a 1:8, with a 4s brushless system, for freakin $299! I love the cool factor of the lowrider, and the customization crowd for those is pretty wild, which does intrigue me, but other than that. I kinda think, bust it out for people that come by, or maybe see me fooling with it outside, for a couple weeks, but then what? Once the "ooh ahh" wears off, I'm thinking it'll end up sitting on the shelf, in it's winter jacket that comes with it, covered in dust, ignored, whereas, an MT basher even bigger and badder than the slash, or one that's maybe not bigger but certainly is badder, I KNOW will get runtime, because the Slash did, and I've been really getting into checking out videos on 1:10 drifting as well. I've got a good sized room in the besement that has a really good concrete floor in it, I could polish pretty easy, and have a good amount of room for a legit drift track if I want... so now, I get my extra toy money in less than an hour, and don't know if I should get a 4s 1:10 monster truck, a 6s 1:8 truggy, or a 1:10 rwd drifter... or none of the above.
Thank Jeremy. Good choice. Solid advice! I'm getting back into R/C after decades away. I was always an Associated guy myself. Probably go for a MT10 for now. Traxxas is good though! Parts availability for sure!
@@PonkyKong - Fell of as in they aren't around anymore, or they aren't a top-tier company like they used to be. I have an old gold aluminum RC-10 from the '90s. I loved building it. I have no idea why I got this video recommended, but it was a fun walk down memory lane.
@Curly_Maple they're just falling into last place. Not innovating. Not the top shelf company they used to be. Racing buggies still good. RC10 anniversary car still fun. But the other guys are eating their lunch.
sup 1/4 lib? lol. I've been meaning to stop by. Seems like I would've been quicker, given our shared political leanings, then me learning that we also share one of my passions, RC money dumping.. go figure. Check this out man. So a few months ago, I got my very 1st Traxxas ever! I got an older, but in very good shape Slash VXL 4x4. After I got it, I put a good many upgrades in it. I got the chasis dirt cover that velcros on the sides, and then upzips on either side. What a difference that made at bath time, lemme tell ya. Then I put a 3660, 3900kv motor, with a 60amp esc in it. I bought the actual Traxxas brand big bore shocks for it, for freaking 60 bucks! But, since it runs on 3s now, it squated almost to the point of bottoming out on the rear, whenever I took off, and heavier oil didn't seem to make much difference. I put in the turbo racing sway bar F+R set, and upgraded the slipper to a 7075 center diff, which is a really cool mod. It fits in the same exact footprint as the slipper, so easy to install, and has hardened steel gear too. I got the HotRC 8ch transmittor, with a couple of the receiver/gyro combos, to get more rigs on 1 transmitter. Now I've got 2 MT's, and a drift car on 1 transmitter. I got new tires and wheels, with aluminum bead locks just cuz lol, and a set of lights with the controller. Thing s pretty sweet. It comes with a little relay box to plug the lights in, then you have a new male and female plug for the servo, motor, and the lights themselves in ch 3. It was 20 bucks dude, and now I've got headlights, brakelights, 4 ways, reverse lights, fog lights, and f+r turn signals, that actually work.. for 20 bucks? hell yeah! Oh, center brace, hi rise battery clip, metal hexes, and 7075 steeering parts from the horn to the hubs.. So, a truck I paid $250 for, threw another $400+ in it, to make it basically a $550 truck lol. Sort of.. it's not low CG, still has stock bumpers, towers, arms, and body is definitely not clipless. So, I call it the Slash Ultimate....ly shoulda just bought the actual ultimate lmao. It does do a solid 65mph, with no cogging at low speed, but admittedly with like 10ft lb of torque lol. poor little guy has a hard time moving from a stop, on anything but dry asphalt, bless it lol. Ok, so, I'm legally blind. Yes, I am aware of the wisdom of someone with my.. obstacles, driving very expensive toys, very fast, without being able to tell what direction they're going, if they're more than say 60/70 foot away.. Speed runs, I'm sure would be very entertaining for a crowd lmao. As a matter of a fact, aaaaaaaall that, was to say, I LOVE my only Traxxas. I took it out for the 1st time in a few weeks, for the 1st run with the gyro, tires n hexes, and lights on Dec 23rd. I got the car down toward the end of my street, in position for a quick speed run. Just as I'm about to punch it, a car turns on the street. No big deal, I'll just pull it over here.... and perfectly slam dunk it into a 2 foot wide strom drain, that I probably couldn't drive it into, if I were 10 feet away, but from 100 foot? Buckets! no net! the drain is a ribbed round pipe, that goes down 2 to 3 feet, then starts curving sharply inward toward the middles of the street. I could see the lights still on, but it was clearly on its roof. I went and got my ocean fishing rod, a treble hook, and a beefy weight and went Slash fishing... and came up empty for a couple hours, well after dark had come, to the point where I felt like a hoodlum for being in the streets so late. Got up the next day.. to the 1st rain since the hurricane hit us "I live in the NC foothills" and well, I guess it was making up for lost time, and was raining so dang hard to play catch up I suppose. I forgot to mention that all them kv's was making for a truck with overheating being its favorite past time, so I went all out, and threw 2 40,000rpm fans on the can, and another on the esc. Damn thing literally sounded more like a turbine powered jet than a short course truck lol. So the batteries had long since safety shut off on me. So, all together I added up, that including the 3s 100c pack I had in it at the time, I literally washed somewhere around $700 give or take, down the drain..... yeah..... I'm sure glad I did that, otherwise I'd probably still be dumping money in that thing every month, and going out, testing how long it'd take me to FINALLY break something on it. The closest I ever got was a few rips on the body shell, and I lost the spring retainer off the bottom of 1 shock once. Did I mention I'm blind? And that's all I could hurt on that thing in 4 months of continually increasing my pushing it WAY beyond it's durability limits power wise. I did make sure I kept all the seals intact when I did the upgrades, keeping it pretty much waterproof, so somebody somewhere down stream found themselves the world's most expensive, not quite Slash Ultimate, with a 3s 8000mah pack in it, surely 5 or 6 times bigger than normal, and possibly on fire, or heading that way very soon lol. Yeah, don't let your lipos get too wat boys n guys lol I'm getting a crawler next. Slow it on down some, to maybe give my weak ass eyes a chance to keep up lol. I"m so sure he's going to read this... so if he don't I'm gonna get all butt hurt, and start a cancel da corter smear campaign dang it! lol
So, the reason I shared my depressing story, is because of your channel name. Yeah, that's my RC Nightmare right there, and it actually happened, not even 2 weeks ago... my low CG conversion kit just showed up on 12/31! That just went on and freshened up all those peper cuts for me.
I love mine. Grabbed one right after they basically changed the Hoss decals to the stampede decals 😂 But I’m ok with that. I also don’t care that it’s more expensive than a comparable Arrma 3s. I have Arrma and traxxas and a few vintage nitro Losi. Love em all and I don’t only judge a car by it’s shelf price.
Best advice. The RCs i used the most are the micros 1/18-1/10 because im a city boy. The 1/8 scales were my favorites but i had to take a drive to find a spot i can enjoy it.
You should buy the Rustler 4x4 VXL and see how much you like it. Ive had mine since 2019 and its been one of the most entertaining trucks I've ever owned.
I almost grabbed one but ultimately settled on the stampede VXL. I did however grab the BL2s 2wd rustler earlier this year when traxxas had the free 2s Lipo and charger promotion and I love that thing! It’s quick as hell, a wheelie machine, and fun to drive. Reminds me of the cars I had as a kid in the 80’s.
Does Tamiya still make the kits that you have to assemble or is everything ready to go out of the box for all the instant gratification kids? I remember building the cars back in the day, so much anticipation getting up to that first run!
I seem to remember you reviewing the first 4x4 slash years ago. Cool to see ya still having fun with RC. Stampede does have great parts support. So much fun upgrading traxxas. Sure have made these trucks better. Could swap motor esc out and put it in your jato. Haha.. stampede would do great with that 2s and still be a lot of fun. That jato buggy would scream
Wow. I got my first in 1984 Midnight Pumpkin and had the Kyosho belt driven awd Porsche later for street/track but I mainly stuck to off road. I could convert a buggy to street if I wanted.
Lmao I didn't know you had an rc channel til this very moment. I've always thought the T/Emaxx was a great basher. I have a late model Tmaxx 3.3 converted to electric but I kept the disc brake (no motor brake) because it has a better feel and I kept the 2 speed trans. It has a fancy steering servo and steel trans gears but otherwise it's stock. It goes 40-45 mph and it just does everything I ask of it. I have at least 100 runs on it. I had a Summit and it was pretty fun but it didn't really have the punch or the speed I want in a basher. I also had an Xmaxx and the novelty of the big scale wore off after a few runs and it just became annoying to have a huge truck laying around the house. The Tmaxx is perfect and a good ol 2wd stadium truck is always fun. I have a T4.2 team kit.
Dude, get the 24 or 32 stuff for winter! I got an old losi 1/32 I chased the cats with years ago. Could definitely go for something new to let that stuff stay on the shelf.
I wouldn't recommend the Stampede VXL as a starter RC. The new version is even more powerful then the old 4x4 VXL with the 540xl motor. Personality I'd recommend the BL2s version with HD parts. It's brushless and somewhat powerful but not too much to the point where a new person to rc will break it everytime they take it out. The VXL will be that RC that a new person to the hobby will break often. Yes they have a training mode and stuff, but a kid will possibly turn off training mode by accident.
I would! Everything on them is cheap and most places stock the stuff...... yeh might be quick but it's something you're less likely to grow out of it for many years. Wish I never bought a 2wd slash as my first 1.
@mickeydrippins the 2wd stuff is allot of fun on a track when setup properly. I race the 2wd rustler, slash and Bandit. All are very competitive believe it or not.
That's the thing if you have the money! HAHA and if you dont spend the same repairing it. I have $400 (RTR) 8 DHK 8382 maximus 1/8th scale .. I found its to fast and I have to rebuild the rear end about every 6 hours or so of mild run time. This is probably what i should have went with. I see a lot of people running these on youttube. Great info. Good stuff.
LOL been in R.C. since 1987 Have and had them all x maxxs kratons etc. Currently my go to R.C. is the Redcat Valkyrie for $300 and now on sale for $240 its a no brainer. It will destroy a Maxx and is the size of that Stampede. Redcat is awesome! Traxxas is overpriced once they got to big for there own good! Great example of that is the new Jato! Redcat today is what made Traxxas in the 90[s Value for the buck!!!!
No, to the title. It's absolutely not. Traxxas is not best in class anywhere at the moment, unless you count part support for poor quality vehicles. But they do love sending their cars to UA-camrs. It's not consumer friendly to pitch it as such, in my view. Get a TA Rival MT10 or an Arrma Granite or an HPI Savage.
Holy Crap Jeremy….Are You Sure Your Not Related To Big Foot?! Holy Guacamole, Look At Him, He’s A Linebacker For The 70’s Pittsburgh Steelers, Mean Jeremy Green
Its a 540 xl motor in there the 3500 is a shorter can and less kv. This Is the Discontinued Hoss With the 120 HD Extreme Upgrade Kit From Factory. This truck is why i lost faith in traxxas.
Think your wrong and misleading people to buy traxxaas stampede 4+4… I would recommend the arrma big rock 3s over a £100 cheaper and far stronger and if it does break its way cheaper to replace parts
The new traxxas HD parts are much better then the old parts. Arrma is getting much better but let's not jump into being one sided. 3s anything for a noob isn't a good starting point.
This motor is 540 xl Velineon.Great Video!
This makes me take the Maxx out for a spin finally, I've got it for three years and never used it 😂
I even have a bag full of aftermarket parts for it, I'm a tank guy before anyone jumps to conclusions, and the last king tiger took me almost 7 years to finish
Still the best for price point fun zone 👍🏽 good video
My first rc was the stampede when the brushless vxl 4x4 came out still have it been through anything and everything
I've always recommended the Traxxas Stampede for beginners, even before they came out with the 4x4 version (yes i'm that old. remember the grasshopper?) Its always been a great basher and all around fun truck.
For anyone new to the hobby.....go with the arrma furry 223 s.....$230.....50 mph and super fun out the box...no upgrades needed ...
I am a firm believer that the Traxxas Hoss is one of the best 10th scale trucks out there.
I have two older ones and they are amazing
I'm going to buy the Stampede 4x4 VXL soon. I wanted the Hoss but I found they stopped making the Hoss. The specs are the same (wheelbase) as the Hoss. I wanted the Hoss but the Stampede is the next best thing IMHP. 🤙
It’s the same vehicle just an updated and better version. If you like the hoss name that much just buy a hoss body and swap out the stampede
Have one have had it for 10 years love it paddle tires for snow so much fun
So I'll try to make this one a little quicker. Now I'm looking for a new happy feels rush. I got a maximum of like 375, can push it to 400 if I gotta. I've been looking at those Redcat lowriders for a minute now. Can get the little bit cheaper brushed 79 Monte Carlo in the top end of my budget.

I've been beating up my Stampede for a couple of months now. It's very durable indeed.
I want the new Big Foot 4x4 but its kind of slow. Whats the best way to increase the speed of that model? What chassis is it built on?
Man I got a stock 2 wheel drive that I think about upgrading every damn day and bashin...
Welcome back. I can't wait for some running videos
I’d probably prefer the Hoss. I was pretty impressed with it and I’ve owned a stampede. Isn’t so top heavy.
Thank Jeremy. Good choice. Solid advice!
I'm getting back into R/C after decades away. I was always an Associated guy myself. Probably go for a MT10 for now. Traxxas is good though! Parts availability for sure!
Team associated fell off. You want to look at Redcat, Arrma, traxxas and Corally.

This is why I love 8th scale. Gets me away from the house. But the mini crawlers and Groms definitely get the most trigger time overall.
Drive em boi!
Dude this whole time I've been watching your quartering channel thinking I know this guy from somewhere lol
Wait so it is him ?! 😂
@calebthomas5411 yes
I had no clue he was into R/C and had this channel. i watch TheQuartering all the time.
A great starter in my opinion is the Rival MT10. Traxxas is cool but their prices make it not worth the investment.

I still remember my Tamyia cars…
Yes. They were great
Tamiya are still good for specific projects, I've used a cc01 chassis for am amphibious project, it worked perfectly for waterproofing and scale look
Looks fun!
I seem to remember you reviewing the first 4x4 slash years ago. Cool to see ya still having fun with RC. Stampede does have great parts support. So much fun upgrading traxxas. Dabble ? Like in the forbidden magic or something 😂
@Cormano980 no man actual gas power RC cars. Idk what the hell your talking sbout.

Great info. Good stuff.
Has he ever said if he ever goes out and drives them around? Or does he just collect them because he just likes them?
Do you use gas powered RCs too?
My dogs favorite toy is my brushless stampede.
Please tell me you have a track by your home
Never Had A Problem From My Hoss Though But 1 Bent Ultra Shock.
Jeremy, have you thought of doing a review and raffle like some of these other channels are doing for revenue or cost supplementation
Is this Jeremy, from the quartering?
No idea he had a rc channel.
Sledgehammer from early 90s. Lol
Last time I ran mine my Great Dane chased it down
LOL been in R.C. since 1987 Have and had them all x maxxs kratons etc.
Ur delusions is strong
Bro, gotta get outside and get some running footage.!
Really, anything Arrma is going to be better than anything Traxxas nowadays. Theyre just relying on their brand name anymore.
Why dont you actually make content driving these things?
JEREMY 5.0: F AROUND & FIND OUT
How do I know if I'm going to "bash"? WTF is bashing?
Letting it rip in the dirt and jumps etc.
Stampede 4x4….Now That’s What America Is All About…That & Trump…#AmericaAF
Holy Crap Jeremy….Are You Sure Your Not Related To Big Foot?! Holy Guacamole, Look At Him, He’s A Linebacker For The 70’s Pittsburgh Steelers, Mean Jeremy Green
the maxx is better.
Its a 540 xl motor in there the 3500 is a shorter can and less kv. This Is the Discontinued Hoss With the 120 HD Extreme Upgrade Kit From Factory. This truck is why i lost faith in traxxas.
The old stampedes look better more scale and better color schemes traxxas is putting the maxx body on every rc and changing the names smh lol
Picking anything that isn’t traxxas for newbs is just silly.
Arrma sucks
Also the new vorteks blx it’s only 320 it’s a great deal!!
@@shaggy420ismnot really
Jeremy, you have too many RC's. You should just send me the ones you don't like. Just sayin
