The best tutorial by far. I just replaced my throttle body in my 2011 Jeep Patriot. This was an ongoing problem for almost a year. The engine light finally came on and I ended up limp driving to Auto zone and I got those codes. Ordered the throttle body and gasket from Amazon the next day and got my car running like new again. Thanks so much. The trick with the radiator hose worked.
Good video. At 04:39, you can see the tab that connects the sensor wire to the hose. I couldn't get it loose, so I left my sensor attached until I unbolted the throttle body. The battery comes out on a minute. If you have big hands, it makes it easier.
I just wanted to say thanks man this really really helped me out. I had the same exact fault codes on my Jeep Patriot and I didn't know what to do. So congrats on a really good video it's short to the point and best of all you can hear the audio. That trick with moving the radiator hose out of the way that was great too. Got mine fixed in no time just had a little debris blocking my throttle body intake valve. Cleaned it up a little bit with some alcohol is all good after that
I enjoy your videos awesome job. Maybe you can guide in the right direction. I replaced the intake runner control on my 08 Jeep Compass. I installed the new part and everything else back the way it was but now it wont start. What can it be? Any thoughts?
Thanks for the advice! I did not have to have an angle extension on a 2010 Jeep Patriot and got lucky. With the part only being $64 from amazon this was a cheap fix.
My warning light come on in my Jeep Compass 2012 after about 5 to 6 miles everytime, and then it goes into limp mode, it will still go around 70mph but it limits the rpm at each gear change. Once I turn off the engine and at each new journey the fault starts again!!!! Suggestions please
That is a viable option. In this case the customer (my wife) wanted the car fixed right the first time. I ordered the part and had it in hand before starting the job so might as well go through with a full replacement. YMMV. Cheers!
I was getting a lot of stuttering when driving down the road. I took my throttle body off and cleaned it and fixed my problem. Just something to think about if you don’t want to spend a lot of money.
Yes this is important for a vehicle with a CVT transmission also. Jeep patriot has 1 buried underneath the battery section right beside the starter which is underneath the engine
Thanks for this! I am having issues with my throttle body. I am getting the lightning bolt dash light and it's not running well. I will try to clean it first before paying for a new one.
Hi, I'm having the same problem, but the alarm does not show up all the time. So. Do you think the replacement of that part could be still necessary? . Thanks
Great video, thanks! I was able to replace the throttle body without too much trouble, but unable to reset the ECU. I turn the key to the start position, but the ECU light never goes out, no matter how long I wait. Is there a way around this?
@@michaeldove1582 I gave up and brought it to the dealership. My problem was (I think) that I hadn't clipped in the bottom sensor properly; the plastic clip actually sort of broke when I removed it. That may help solve your problem.
Question, I have a 2011 Jeep compass 4x4. When I completely fuel my Jeep, it stalls when I top it off. Only when I fuel completely it stalls. Then to get it started I put egnition two clicks and put it in neutral then that's how I start my Jeep up again.
Just wanted to say thank you for your accurate and informative video. Had the same problem with my 2010 jeep patriot. Contacted the dealership and quoted me 1200 for the part and 300 for labor. Lucky I decided to search UA-cam and found your video. Bought the throttle body from ebay which cost me 80 bucks and installed it myself. Only question is when I took the old throttle body out, I found a little bit of oil inside the line that connects the throttle body to. Is this normal? Anyways, the car is running great so far after I installed the new throttle. You saved me $1400 . THANKS AGAIN.

Fixed my wife's patriot with this video. Thanks bro, saved me a ton of money!

Great video. Hard to edit properly, AND do the job right. Thank you.
Thanks big man with your great help I did fix my car which had the exact prob. Wish you all the best of success 👍
Thanks for the video , and the tip about the ECU at the end.
Idle speed relearn and resetting the ECU are the same thing, yeah?

This is a lot easier with the battery out.
I did not see any parts that may fail. Could you just clean and replace?

Everything shown was legit. I did everything in video and worked for me.
What year and make is your car

did it work "cleaning", it would cost me roughly 250$ for the part just curious.
@@XxMIMICxX1 Yes! It worked! Took it off. Sprayed it with carb cleaner. Took a shop rag and made it spotless! No more dash lights!
Awesome going to give it a go thanks
Thanks bro loves your very clear camera's angels
Super helpful man, thank you!!

Six years later, did replacing the Throttle Body take care of the codes long term?
Sure did. Not bad for a cheap Chinese replica part.
@@dad-whodoes Thanks, that's what I ended up doing. Gotta love next day shipping from Amazon!

Having the same issue , did you get anywhere with this?

I have asked about the idle speed control on the thbottle body ....the spring and the stop broke wanted to see how it worksand no info yet
Crankshaft position sensors are also a big problem on these, but easy to change.
Would this help with a 2015 renagade as well?
Did you end up with the generic or original Mopar part.....gotta fix my daughter's jeep. Thanks in advance
Generic I believe
What sensor is that connected to throttle body?
I got the bottom clamp off with a stubby screwdriver...
Great “ How To” video!!!!!
Is it expensive to fix
How long would you say it takes start to finish?
90 minutes. YMMV
Thanks for the help bro!
Thanks brother
I got all the way to unscrew the bottom of the tube..and then I cannot reach the screws😕
I though this was the problem with mine, ended up being the intake manifold. I ended up putting the throttle on for nothing.. 😞
Just take some throttle body cleaner and clean it most of the time it fixed the limo mode problem and the problem your having
very good help
