The last scene… it still sends chills down my spine. She lived to be the only one still alive. But they’re all together again. ❤️
@👸 DAUGHTER OF GOD, ELOHIM. dude I’m agnostic but I can still hope there’s an afterlife so good people are taken care of when they die and so bad people who weren’t punished in life are punished in death. So I like to think they’re all together eating cheesecake and gossiping and there’s nothing wrong with that.
You noticed that too!! And yet Betty was the oldest of the four as well
I adored this show but I can't stand when people make comments like that. Well, at least you didn't say they're in a better place.
@@sheilaeastman7617 a 🙏🙏🙏🏿
@@jaxl1931 Betty always said that she'd never marry again because she had the best husband and that they would be reunited in death..... Sometimes that is what people need to believe to be able to live a fulfilled happy life. Never stamp on someone's dreams and beliefs. You would like your dreams fulfilled so why try to take away someone else's. I like to think she's with him eating breakfast right now, she deserves it.
22:20 “But what happens when there’s only one of us left?”
That hurt. On so many levels.
Pain. So much pain.
The fact they die in the same order they where sitting from right to left , is more sad
yea i felt that one
@@kevinmelecio9488 Oh yeah I didn't even think about see in this scene until you bring it up oh man.... kinda creepy. Sad but never forgotten !!! Love golden girls !!!
My heart broke 💔
My favourite Sophia moment is when she convinces her suicidal friend that life is worth living after all. A very sweet gesture from the otherwise cynical Sophia.
a sweet scene, but interesting she is never mentioned or seen ever again the show lol
@José Elias She was Geraldine Fitzgerald, an Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actress in Dark Victory starring Bette Davis.
I can understand Martha. If the day comes that I think it should be over for me, I would do the same thing. I just wish that when I decide to end it, the people I love are around and would be there to support me through it. Have a happy day and when I close my eyes, all I want to see are all their smiling faces.
💕🧡
Hmmm . . .
Gotta see that one - again.
Thank you.
I love how Sophia tries to hide it but she is actually a good hearted person underneath all the insults and swagger.
That's the Native Italian from The old Country plus Brooklyn Personality
"We're not in this life for peace" is still one of the most powerful things I've ever heard on television. 😭 Where's Alvin, her friend with Alzheimer's?
Good grief, this compilation was depressing enough with the suicidal pal, all we needed was her new friend from the seaside bench, Alzheimer Alvin, here. I don't even watch those episodes anymore, they're too heavy for my taste. It's a sitcom not a drama.
@@eduardo_corrochio You are probably under 40. See, the classic sitcoms always balanced out the zany plots with serious ones to remind the audience that these were being based on real life.
@@nassauguy48 I'm familiar with "the classic sitcoms", thanks. And I'm 56. Not all of the sitcoms injected some of the scripts with heavy or dark stuff. I go to a sitcom to laugh, but of course I do know that some of them can be mixtures of comedy and tragedy (All in the Family comes immediately to mind, a show that I hold in very high esteem).
I hope they do a part 2 and include him and also the ladies from The Chow Wagon (with a young Scott Menville as their boss!)
@@eduardo_corrochio it's just a personal preference of yours, they should have included Alvin because he was Sofia's friend at the very least. Whether you think it's dark or not doesn't really matter to the op.
“ my Italian must be really rusty I could have sworn she asked if you were a street walker”
And Blanche's look of approval on her face lol 🤣
“What happens if there’s only one of us left?” Said the great Betty white decades ago… Now they’re united ❤
😢😢😢
It definitely hits different now ....
I *still* can't believe that they're all gone. And I am not ashamed to admit that that fact hurts a lot. RIP Estelle Getty (July 25, 1923 - July 22, 2008), Bea Arthur (May 13, 1922 - April 25, 2009), Rue McClanahan (February 21, 1934 - June 3, 2010), and Betty White (January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021). You will all be missed.
@@heinzdoofenshmirtz8643 it's okay. They are like family to many of us and like family you miss them when they transitioned. ❤️✊🏿
What a prophetic question Betty White asked at the end.
RIP, Betty
The woman who played Gina's mother also played the insufferable Mrs Klackston (the neighbor who wanted to destroy the tree on their street).... I loved the Golden Girls..
Yes exactly! 😂
Yes. And the woman who played Martha also played the lady who Rose met in the train station who had left the nursing home to go to her daughter's grave.
Mrs Klackston also played Amanda Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street 3!
The actress who played Gina also played young Sophia in the episode where Dorothy takes Sophia to her old apartment in Brooklyn and she flashes back to the day they brought her brother Phil home for the first time.
Nan Martin 1927-2010
The last scene made me cry. Especially since Betty was the last Golden Girl. May they all rest in peace.
Philomena is Frida Claxton in another episode and Lillian is Grandma Rosie from Wedding Singer and one of the sisters in Sister Act
Ellen Albertini Dow (Lillian) was also on an episode of Wings where she played an elderly clerk at a video rental shop at Christmas time. She's done on a lot! Even played a teacher, Mrs. Nap, on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.
And Miles initially appeared as Arnie, Rose’s first post-Charlie lover
@@nince021 The writers really screwed Rose and Miles in the spinoff, Golden Palace. Not nice.
Lillian also played an aging cocaine addict in the movie "Studio 54"!
@@eduardo_corrochio Yes, I have no idea why they ended the Rose and Miles relationship.
Sophia and her plotlines were so sad sometimes :(( I love how the Golden Girls dealt with social issues for the elderly honestly
Rue always looks like she’s smiling, even when she isn’t. ❤
8:16 The combination of horror and confusion on Sophia's face; Damn, Estelle was some actress! Portrayed so many feelings perfectly without saying a single word.
I agree, and Geraldine Fitzgerald is always excellent.

Every time I hear the line "when there's only one of us left ", I lose it. All my friends are gone now too.
I'm sorry! ❤ Most of my friends and family are gone too...
I am the only one of us left. So what you do is you go out and make new friends, young friends.
"I hear the silence." That is a powerful line. It resonates with me. After Loki died I had silence all around me. But when I saw Tangerine, I felt hope again. I saw a new light.
As someone who has got all the pills out of their packaging and contemplated swallowing them all then freaking out and calling the police on myself, watching her convince her suicidal friend to stay has me in tears. We love you sophia
I hope you're doing better today. Much love x
@michikomanalang6733 I'm alive, happy and well. I hope you are too and thank you for your kind comment x
I loved how Sophia convinced her friend not to commit suicide. That took courage.
❤❤❤❤🎉
That last scene with Martha was Estelle Getty's best in GG. She plays a side of Sophia we hardly ever saw. So good.
Such a moving wise show, amidst all the jokes and wisecracks
Sophia killed it! "Don't worry . I can take care of myself."☠😂🤣😅
Her having the maitre’d help her get on the stool is one of my favorite scenes!!!! It’s so funny, especially as a short girl!
Anybody notice that Philomena Bosco is the same actress that played Frieda Claxton, their most hated neighbor? 😂👀
"And you peed on his suit.""
"It's ok. You can hardly see it anymore."☠😂🤣😅
Sophia: You wanted me to be here for your death, how about letting me be here for your life?
Martha: Like a friend?
Sophia: Like a best friend!
What a sweet word of hope and assurance from Sophia!
And then we never see Martha again lol.
"But what happens when there's only one of us left..." 😭😭😭😭😭😭 LiTeRaLlY in tears
So much pain.
Me too!
And they looked at the one who would be the last...
The way blanche gave up her bonus check 😢❤😢❤ I love her so much
" What happens when there is only one of us left?" said the last one to depart, Betty White. I love them. Bless their hearts and thank you for the joyfull moments you provided us with.
"Not Another Monday" is one of my favorite episodes of the series very relatable
I just realized the same actress plays Sophia’s friend that contemplated suicide and the woman Rose helped in the bus station from her Mother’s Day story. At least I believe so.
It is. Her name is Geraldine Fitzgerald, an actress from Ireland. She made a very promising start in Hollywood back in 1939, winning an Oscar nomination for her first Hollywood movie Wuthering Heights but she fell foul with the studio when she rebelled against her boss in Warner Bros. Thereafter she concentrated her career on stage instead.
The actor who played Dominic also played the old architect who worked on their garage (to turn it into a guest room).
The episode with Martha was the first Golden Girls episode I ever watched! It’s still my favorite to this day!
The Lilian episode hurts now. Betty was the one saying it and she was the last one to die. God rest her soul.
"My mother to come with me" I miss my beautiful mama so much!! Rip mommy ❤️❤️😘😘
It’s bittersweet to see Betty had the line “What happens when there’s only one of us left?” and that was her.
I do think she found the answer, though. She squeezed a whole lot of life into her time. Like she had the energy and love of life for all of them put together.
I just realized that the woman who plays Sophia's friend in the first scene also played Miss Frieda Klackston. Their voices are identical.
Yes. She is.
was about to comment the same
I just noticed. You're right!!!
I noticed that too!
@@stephencantin3721 no that’s Sophia’s friend instead.
I know all too well what it’s like to feel suicidal back in my school years. Having a best friend indeed helps.
And Dorothy’s “My mother to come with me…” was hilarious
"You think I'm in here because I'm good with names?"
This is so sad Sophia and Martha 🥺
I feel bad for the suicidal friend. Did they actually hang out more afterwards? Cuz loneliness really can kill someone.
We never saw the character again. But it's implied that Sophia made a concerted effort to spend time with her friend.
It wasn't shown but we know Sophia's word is law!
The last scene can make you cry
That ending 🥹
That's mean old lady Claxton speaking Italian!
My favorite scene in the episode featuring Philomena and Dominic Bosco is when Dorothy (shaken by the possibility that Sophia isn't her mother) is in bed with Sophia and in turmoil emotionally, saying that she really needs a parent right now to tell her everything's going to be all right, and suddenly Dominic appears next to her and says "Don't-a worry, baby ... everything's a-gonna be molto bene", causing Dorothy to scream in surprise. Love that moment.
Oh boy this one makes me cry. One of the more touching stories. I sure love these women!
Ladies who acted with talent, but literally were as wonderful as the Golden Girls characters they played. I grew up watching this show with family, including my very sarcastic Grandma. 😅 Thank you for great memories, I can hear Grandma's laughing at lots of the jokes. ❤
Geraldine Fitzgerald playing her friend ,Martha. Wonderful actress
At last someone said her name! I kept thinking what is her name, thankyou.
She was in "Dark Victory" with Bette Davis...
She played opposite Bette Davis in Dark Victory...❤
I love how the nice host helps her up and off the barstool. Those things are high for us shorties! I want Lyle Waggoner or his clone to do that for me, the next time I dine out.
Awwwww that end part 😭💖🕊️
17:35 Dorothy‘s face😂😂😂😭
The actress who played Martha killed that performance. Amazing.
Dorothy: Ma, where were you ?
Sophia: I'll give you a hint, the guest of honor had lipstick on her teeth and didn't give a damn.
Me:💀💀💀💀
Their pantry and drawing room is well designed.
Lol Sophia’s female friend from the first clip also played mean old Mrs Claxton
Watching these videos is just simply amazing and wonderful , it just feels like these 4 fantastic ladies are still with us , ❤️🤗😘
MY FAVORITE, ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SHOW OF ALL TIME. I CAN WATCH THEM ON AN ENDLESS LOOP
“…But what happens when there’s one of us left?” And now, they’re all gone, hopefully together again having fun in perfection.
Wow that hit hard me when Rose said "one of us left". Who would've ever thought that her saying that would actually come true gave me the chills.
I never knew Geraldine Fitzgerald was in Golden Girls! You can't mistake that voice.
She was in two episodes. The one featured here called "Not Another Monday" from Season 5 and "Mother's Day" from Season 3, where she escapes from her nursing home in order to visit her daughter's grave in St. Olaf and runs into Rose. In fact, the latter earned her an Emmy nomination as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
I just realized that the actress who plays Lillian also played Mrs. Leonard (the woman with the flowers) in "The Days and Nights of Sophia Petrillo."
And Frida Claxton from the episode where Rose didn't want a tree to be cut down
@@l.x.ekaterina.x.l I think that was a different actress. I recently learned that Philomena Bosco and Frieda Claxton were played by the same actress.:)
She lived to be over 100...
@@randysills4418 I just learned that a few days ago. Amazing!
“I’ll give you a hint, the guest of honor has lipstick on her teeth, and she didn’t give a damn!”😂😂
Such a epic show.. they don’t make shoes like this anymore!
I love these 4 ladies ❤️
Veteran character actor Nan Martin played Philomena...but you will also recognize her as Freda Claxton also in the Golden Girls. Shes a great actress.
Damn way to make me cry with the ending it was a sad enough story of her friend and finding a home but why the only one of us left cmon I just bursted into tears damn Betty 😭😭😭😭😭😭
did you really need to end the video with “…but what happens when there’s only one of us left” scene? it kills me every time, especially with Betty’s passing last year
they''re together again
It is an incredibly prophetic thing. So weird how they gave Betty that one particular line to speak.
.. and then there were none
Felt the same way...
I was all "awwww..." and "wow" although out the video...
Then 22:20 came and I was like 😟🥺😢😭
@@rhuephus That's a good movie from 1945
Dorothy and Sophia are my favorite characters on the show!
What a sweet compilation 😘
The look Dorothy gave Blanche when Lillian said her breasts were bigger than Blanche’s was pure gold
Justin gave Danielle
That was important episode about aging and death being alone how hard it is on seniors
Yes, It is hard! I am getting there...
RIP ladies!
Wait a minute - the old Italian lady also played Freida Klaxton!
1:20 Freda Claxton lives again!
😂❤
4:00 what an awesome storyline! ❤❤
"Don't worry. I can take care of myself." ❤
*sniff* my heart..
i related to her suicidal friend. i used to want to die so bad especially when covid hit. but somehow the Lord showed himself to me through an amazing show called 'the Chosen' and i began to follow God from now on and i havent been suicidal again since. if anybody reading this is considering suicide, pls know that this decision isnt one that can be taken back. know that God loves you and wants you to live and follow Him, He has an amazing plan for your life and wants to be your friend
God bless.
The moment when Sophia opens the door and Gina appears. 😂😅
Great ending!
Isn’t that Frida Clayton playing the wife if Sophia’s friend?
Last segment, when I first saw it it was funny never thinking I would be alone and old but here I am. Old and alone and dying. 😢
This program was shot ahead of it's time and this ladies acted most spectacularly too ,every episode somehow relates to this time now and surely everyone at some point young or old r able to find something here which helps them to overcome any situation. Well now that they r all resting in peace together finally , there should be a rerun of the program in their memory celebrating their friendship their golden life here on earth . For their gift to everyone through this show . ❤❤❤❤
betty asking what happens when there's only one of us left.....wow.
The one with Dorothy being Philaminas makes a lot of sense. Side note, I watched the one who plays Dominick in hogans Heroes. He's such a wonderful actor. He's so funny
He was a customer of mine at a bank I worked at and he was very nice...❤
I didn't realise Frida Claxton had another role in GG 😁😁😁
A lot of times, the guest stars played multiple characters.
Estelle Getty lived her final years not knowing who she was or the people around her. She was feisty to the end. RIP great lady.
I love you Betty and even though that dream of meeting you won’t flow that is okay because you’re always around thank you to all the girls for being a friend
Because what man in his right mind would leave you to languish on the vine? That was a smooth line and Sophia's reaction was so honest and I felt the same. I stopped and listened to it again. Haha!!
Sofia to Jacques: for me it was better the first time, how about you.." ❤😂😮❤
Runaway wheelchair!! 😲 😂❤❤❤
22:22 .....wow hard to believe it..They're all resting now
@👸 DAUGHTER OF GOD, ELOHIM. do you even know what I was referring to
@DAUGHTER OF GOD, ELOHIM. Bugger off. You're not helping, because religion often leads to conflict.
Rose was the one to "What happens when there's only one of us left" and Sophia answers, "Don't worry I can take care of myself"....T_T Estelle Getty was the first to pass away and Betty White was the last of them to pass away.
I liked Blanche and Dorothy’s outfits
I will be the first to say
Jacques was smooth
I can’t stand the way Sophia’s friend said, “Filet Mignon” 😂😂😂
The first scene looked like Freda Claxton
It is!
That's because both characters had the same actress, Nan Martin.
I saw her in a heartwarming film towards the end of her career...at a theater...❤
“I’m going to have a shrimp cocktail, the cream of mushroom soup, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, and a filet mignon.”
“I like cholesterol as much as the next guy, but you’re never going to get blood to your feet again!”

Did the episode happen to be The Lady?
@@heinzdoofenshmirtz8643 No, Rose. It's that episode where they fight with space pirates.
A rare time that one actor gets to call Blanche a streetwalker as two different characters.
