When I first bought my E46 I had no idea what I was getting into. The boy racer in me just wanted a cool flashy car so it was my first choice over a Honda Accord at the same price. After 2 months owning it tons of stuff started to go wrong and I had to fix the car myself because I couldn't afford taking it to a shop. I knew nothing about cars but my E46 taught me real quick. I've owned her for a year now and at this point we've been through so much I'll never let the car go. If it wasn't for the E46, my friends and E46 communities I would have never made it.

Oh, might I add I am talking about the coupe models. Not too big on the sedan facelift. IMO the facelifted coupe was where BMW began styling their cars to have "beautiful" eyes rather than the deadpan aggressive ones found on earlier models.
I've owned my e46 m3 for around 4 years now. If you want the rundown, buy a 6speed coupe, reinforce the subframe soon, forget the rotiforms and BC coilovers, snag a pair of Apex Arc 8s and Ground Control coilovers and you will have a great time. Also the subframe issue isn't as common as people make it out to be. Toss a Z4 shifter in there to make the shifts faster and it's perfect. Aftermarket intakes don't increase power unless you buy the CSL airbox (which is over $1,000) so keeping the OEM intake is best unless you really care about intake noise. As far as exhaust you NEED AR20 resonators welded in or it's going to be raspy asf. Euro headers are a great and cheap way to add 10+ horsepower and as far as the rear end look for Groupp M, Diablo, Status Groupe. Don't ever plan on the S54 making a ton of power unless you have bankroll because S/C kits are around 6 grand and turbo kits are in the 10s. Personal opinion is to keep it N/A, do FBO, tune, E85, and pray to make around 365 BHP. Might have sounded a little negative but I love my e46 m3, im never going to sell it, and its the most fun and "drivers" car I have ever driven. If your seriously looking for one, DO IT.
I'ma be honest I really am looking into an E46 as well, but I know nothing. Your comment here helps out a lot man. All I know is they are beautiful cars.
@Sano preformance wise its "upper beginer". I started my journey with an E36 M3 which is less powerful amungst other things, but both great platforms to go as far and as crazy or as tame as you want. Even OEM it will have enough power to keep up or beat most cars on the road. The reason why it might NOT be great for a beginer is if you want one in a great condition with maintenance history you will be paying big time. I was lucky to buy mine 6 years ago mint before the prices skyrocketed. These are cars you want to pay more for a good example. If you cheap out you will be paying for it by abuse, questionable mods, and days under the car fixing it. Save up and get a good example of one in a 6 speed manual. AVOID the SMG at all cost.
@@bubblelex5051 Dyno'ed at 319whp manual trans on 93. Catless headders, Full custom exhaust, CSL intake, tune, few other things, 100% OEM internals have not touched the engine. If my M3 is making 319 wheel it's gotta be damn close to 365 crank.
2 things you forgot to mention: The E46 325ci has one of the most reliable BMW engine ever. 2nd: The coupes usually crack their sub frame, so check that out. Except that, have fun!
I've had my e46 for 5 years now and I have learned so much about cars through it. A lot of people think because it's a German car it'll be hard to work on or parts will be expensive and yes some parts can be expensive but they are usually pretty high quality and last a long time. If I had to give some advice on buying an e46 I'd say to make sure you get strut tower reinforcement plates if you plan on lowering it, make sure it does not overheat because the threads on the aluminum block will strip and if you get an early model ecu is pretty easy to tune.

I've owned my e46 for a while now and I love it. What I would add to the list of problems is leaks. Your expansion tank will leak, you will have several oil leaks and so on. Just gotta fix the leaks as they happen. Also always make sure to check your power steering fluid, since that loves to leak out pretty damn quick and can make for some very weird driving noises and experiences during corners. Listening to the radio and Waves-Mr. Probs came on and I broke into tears going off into a monologue of if I ever forgot about this car, play this song, and ill always think of you. Sure it leaks and has issues but the smile on my face when i slap it into sports mode and shift it into 2nd to do some pulls in town is amazing! I have so many plans for the car but first things first I GOTTA FIND THOSE DAMM LEAKS!
I started my channel building an e46, and it warms my heart to see them growing in popularity, both on track and on the street. One thing I will say is the oil pump nut needs to be addressed if you want to thrash on these cars 👍🏽
Me too... I thought the E36 was the "Golden Child," and it certainly is. But then you drive an E46.... 😮 And realize it is truly "God's Chariot." Safer, stronger, and virtually the same weight, but with significant stiffness added.
Pulled out the E46 M3 Vert 6 speed manual and went a run in South Florida. Love this car, so graceful and fast with just the right amount of power. E46 M3 fan for life
I found my wagon on FB MarketPlace. All I can remember was scrolling down after I refreshed the search, and I did a triple-take, between: "Ooh, nice a BMW, and I wasn't even looking for one ..." "And they only want $$$$, for my favorite engine, with AWD and Manual transmission?! I must be dreaming...." then - "AND IT'S A TOURING WAGON!!!! Sold." 😂
I picked up a 1999 E46 for $2k roughly 9 months ago. 5 spd 323i 100k km. Had to put in about $2k ish afterwards to get it inspected. Did as much as possible at home. Electric windows are an issue, but not much else otherwise. The car Handles beautifully and is a blast during winter, I actually look forward to snowstorms now lol.
I have owned my 46 for 4 years now, its on its third motor, finally a 3L and has been manual converted, was lucky enough to find an MTech 2 package. over the four years I have replaced 2 diffs (LSD now) 2 radiators, 3 expansion tanks, front and rear control arms twice, suspension cracked so -> coil overs and countless more upgrades and replacements. being 21 keeping this car through all of this has been an absolute budgeting mission. However at the end of the day when you're screaming round a corner fully sideways there is no better feeling then doing in an e46 - no regrets 10/10 would recommend .
Purchased my e46 Tourer in 2007 when it was 5 years old. Had it now 14 years. The age is now 19 years old in 2021. Its still running as sweet as when i purchased it. Would definitely recommend this vehicle if your savvy at doing your own repairs and maintenance . You will not be disappointed.
Not gunna lie, but it was definitely NFS MW that put me on the E46 and I've loved it ever since. Hope I can snag one as a secondary car in the future. Also love the E36's.
Have owned 3 E46’s and loved them all, loved my ZHP the most I still miss it! Moved to E39 but I will own another E46 for sure, favorite generation of BMW by far (E46, E39, E38)
I own an E46 320D,150Hp. Having so much fun with this car.It is my first car though,so wrecking it was a goal of mine and it kinda happened but more drifts and drag races to go still.
I currently own a 2004 Dinan S1 Phoenix Yellow M3 and it was literally the best purchase I've made. I chose the SMG over the 6sp after test driving them both for 24 hours (thanks to the dealership for allowing that one lol). the speed of the shifts and the amount of control you maintain is something that i appreciate. and in the event of failure, the reepair is 700 bucks, or a cool grrand for a 6sp swap...
I bought a clapped out, rebuilt title shitbox of an e46 (2000 323Ci) a year ago because I didn't know shit about cars and it was $1600. Even though it was a terrible car to have and definitely not worth that much money, it was a good decision because I learned a LOT over the few months I had it and then ended up trading it for a 2003 acura CL type-s with a 6 speed, which is a very fun to drive and more reliable car. Then I ended up keeping the acura as my daily and selling my old daily and I ended up making money out of the initial BMW purchase
Storm Step Man I love this comment . I had a CLS6 and my buddy had a E46 , CLS6 mopped it up in the straights and the corners . However , sliding the 46 was fun .
Owner of an e46 5 speed for my winter ride and e46 M3 6 speed for my spring to summer ride. Love them both. On good Nokian R7 winter tires I plow through Syracuse (upstate NY) snow storms like nobodies business. Turn traction off and shes so manageable in snow. The M3 is a dream to drive. Shes s screamer! Listening to the radio and Waves-Mr. Probs came on and I broke into tears going off into a monologue of if I ever forgot about this car, play this song, and ill always think of you. Fast forward I got my license and would get up every Sunday at 6 am to rip it through the mtns, but I wanted a manual so I bought a shit box and let my mom sell the car. 2 years later I sit in my college dorm with its ass tattoed on my arm. Looking at getting one of my own. This is a truly magical car for so many people.
Normally I'm not really into the Euro stuff, but I would own an e46 in a heartbeat. Such a timeless classic!
I've owned 3 e46's. loved every one. I've been stationed in Germany for 2 years and currently rock a euro spec e46 2003 318i. I will always love the e46
Ted K Just bought for a great price 2004 318i with 2.0l 105kw its not the best engine but the car is really good. I just need to change some stuff in engine and thats all. Its my second e46 :)
Shaded_LP run! Them n42 engines are shit! They keep running for ever but leak all sorts of fluids up till it costs more for that than fuel.
They do last forever tho.
inge Sörensen I know, like I said- got it for a great price, the only reason. And also yes, it is leaking a bit. I think I will sort it out and keep that car for a year and then will sell it and buy another one with better engine.
Shaded_LP real good engines, dont get me wrong, real bad gasket fit
Shaded_LP It’s not leaking oil it’s just sweating
I miss my e46. I had a 2003 330ci and was honestly the best car ever.
Dom E46 same here. Mine was a midnight blue vert. Miss the damn thing it was the car that got me into cars with he day I wanna get another one
Just bought a 90k mile 2004 330i. Alpine weiss on natural brown.
Sir Bader enjoy her
@@sirbader1 had to comment because of the name lol but I just got my 04 330ci vert 98k miles black metallic peral natural tan interior sports package I will never own another car like this one :*
@@sirbader1 Still got it? If so, how is it driving?
I almost yelled when I Saw this notification. Thank you so much, you did the e46 justice.E46 330ci for life!
I'm planning on buying one soon, any words of warning?
So lucky to say that I own a E46 M3! Best looking chassis BMW has ever made.
The E46 body style will never ever faze out!! Even after so many years!! The body style the lines is so beautiful!! Just love them!! I also own one myself a 2002 325i!! USMC 1991
Ayy who a lit bmw fan???
Proud owner of my second E46, first was a '98 318i, now a '03 320d. Great car!
Don't even want a E46 but even I expected this one 🙏
My father has E46. No upgrades just stock. And that makes sense beacuse he is 54. It's a pretty great car if u ask me.
Own an E46 330ci and it’s driving perfection
Watch out for 330s fuel pump is located in gas tank..... Good luck on that DIY fix
Lol I own one as well , too bad it’s all stock tho
I have an 01 330i and I’ll never let her go.
Eratiik , i have a 04 330ci and it’s my child
@@masonsetzer2119 like most recent BMW's? It's not a hard job you just buy a replacement fuel pump assembly if that's too hard for you get a Corolla
Picked one up in December.. absolute monster of a car . Responsive; well rounded usable power all around . Such a blast to drive
Let’s go you just made my year
I’ve had two e46 330s, next one I’m getting is the M3. All time favorite car
Made it here after getting one and driving for 6 months, got a 330ci 5sp and love it, parts everywhere both oem and aftermarket and thats something for living at the bottom of the world in NZ. off the road now, cage, motor refresh, suspension and straight onto the track as pretty much stock+. cant wait, love the video 100% accurate keep up the good work. Finally subscribed haha
I got myself one of these for super cheap and it has tested my mechanical skills but also has been the best decision i have made in a long time! I wasn't looking for a E46 and i have never wanted one nor cared for BMW at all and frankly i really wanted a 350z but when i saw how cheap this 325i was and how long it was listed for something just felt right and now im part of a super friendly community and i have a car with tons of aftermarket support and fun to be had along with a great daily driver! Sure it leaks and has issues but the smile on my face when i slap it into sports mode and shift it into 2nd to do some pulls in town is amazing! I have so many plans for the car but first things first I GOTTA FIND THOSE DAMM LEAKS!
I spent more on oil and coolant than fuel but god it was fun to drive 😁 rest in pieces 🚘💥
You needed to change the piston rings
Joe Dudley same here lol
FINALLY! I swear to god my heart skipped a beat when this one popped of in my feed. Thank you so much, you guys just made my year
I started my channel building an e46, and it warms my heart to see them growing in popularity, both on track and on the street. One thing I will say is the oil pump nut needs to be addressed if you want to thrash on these cars 👍🏽
Nuisance_Carl i follow your channel. Pretty good content. I also have a e46 drift car and i can totally relate to your videos lol. Keep it up.👍🏾
Apothic Jaxx ayyyeee thanks 🤟🏽
Best to address the oil pump nut when you do the oil pan gasket
My only regret of finally getting an E46 is taking so long to get one.
How much bro ? Hi from colombia 🇨🇴
@@TheKevinneoclassic dependiendo de adonde estás por ejemplo estás en Colombia puede ser diferente comparando a EEUU aquí cuestan como 8,000 usd
E46 M3 fan for life
I swear Y’all can do a “so you want a Prius” and it’ll still be fire all because of the intros BEAT DROP🔥
Some people go nuts for the E36, even auto journalists but I will always love the E46 M3 more. N yesss bro the wagon is so dope!
"Every 16 year old's dream car."
I'm 15 and I would die for this thing lmao
BMW is passion at its finest 👌 they don't call it the ultimate driving machine for nothing
Plankton:
*YEEEEESSSSSSSS*
INFFRED I can hear this comment lmao
@@Javiproductionz same 😂😂
Not a vette, but I’ll take it for now.
Gage Petas it will smoke the vette around a mountain road
@Gage Petas I almost had a stroke reading that last message...
Gage Petas doubt it. C5 vette is cheaper than the m3 and has potential for way more power.
Bmw > shitty American engineering
SoCal Surfer Said no one ever.
I'm getting one from 2004, a 320D 150hp... Never had a powerful car, drove it and instantly fallen in love! In 2 days it will be mine!
Purchased my e46 Tourer in 2007 when it was 5 years old. Had it now 14 years. The age is now 19 years old in 2021. Its still running as sweet as when i purchased it. Would definitely recommend this vehicle if your savvy at doing your own repairs and
maintenance . You will not be disappointed.
I will forever love/miss my 330Ci :(
She was so good to me.
I want to buy a 330Ci,can you give me some advice? Like problems etc?
EmY if you do maintenance you should be good
EmY make sure it’s not the cheapest one. Look over the coolant system. Smell for oil.
same I Just got one for my first car for my 17th birthday I just fell in love with my 330ci automatically at first sight

I'm dying at all the osrs sound effects 😂😂😂
I was very surprised by osrs appearing here of all places 😂 please tell us your in game name
2004 330xi.. first car love it. Bought it about 2 months ago and I love this thing ❤️
Always had a soft spot for the e46, great looks and love the inline 6. Although, y'all are still sleeping on the Corvette.
Finally. This moment feels like an achievement by all of us. 😂
I own an E46 320D,150Hp. Having so much fun with this car.It is my first car though,so wrecking it was a goal of mine and it kinda happened but more drifts and drag races to go still.
Intro music and clips were straight flames. This alone made the platform proud.
Ayyy! Finally E46 gang! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 were my sedan boys at!
FINALLY. BEEN WAITING FOR THE E46 EPISODE.
Big congrats to the ppl that kept asking for this 😂 y’all got determination
I currently own a 2004 Dinan S1 Phoenix Yellow M3 and it was literally the best purchase I've made.
I chose the SMG over the 6sp after test driving them both for 24 hours (thanks to the dealership for allowing that one lol). the speed of the shifts and the amount of control you maintain is something that i appreciate. and in the event of failure, the reepair is 700 bucks, or a cool grrand for a 6sp swap...
people are selling these for 3k-10k€, with 100-250k kilometres driven. Going to buy one next week.
what a coincidence i just bought an e46 a few days ago'

I've been wanting for for the Toyota starlet GT turbo for a while now so I'll join on this journey.
We NEED that prelude
However , sliding the 46 was fun .
now this is a true bmw story. any sensible man will not daily a euro shitbox. p.s ime not payin 300 quid for a plastic valve cover bmw…. gfu…...
Took a 1 owner e46 over a 2 owner E90 M3. No regrets.
As a die hard American car guy... I had a GTO and a head Cam C6z and I have a LS3 swapped 1972 C10 but I can’t deny I love my daily driven E46 330xi 6Speed 🥰
I think it strange that I bought one of these yesterday. Totally badass car!
Has it been reliable so far?
@@ImJustFloww so far the only part to go bad was cam position sensor. But I am planning an LS swap.
I love my 2006 E46 M3. Some people still ask if it’s the newest model, followed by complete shock when I tell them it’s an ‘06.
