Yes the addition of metal powder to the BP does up the risk and BP with metal added should never be rammed (with a Mallet) but can be pressed with much less risk.
@@Pyrolife-net what material is the nozzle? you say clay and something else I can't understand !!! How you make it ?? Proportions clay (type you say) and paraffin?
@@willowpine2604 Its called nozzel mix, a mix of bentonite clay, grit and paraffin wax heated up together in an oven and mix and screened. could you please fix my problem. the tube is 10 cm length, diameter 23mm, the hole inside the fuel is 6 mm. I add clay in the nozzle and at the end. using black powder as fuel. it does not give fast thrust to fly why?
Nice job, I make 3/4 and 1 inch. Ti and magnesium or magnalium?. I use to but have a bit of 60m 50/50 Magnalium. Know anyone showing good ball shell small 1 3/4 to 3 in. ? Kinda skipped the small ones and went large fast.. I do have small disks also. Thank ya and have a gooday Bob H
Thanks Bob, I also do the 3/4 and 1" sizes in these , for those I have some Firesmith tooling. Dont really know who does shell building vids maybe Ned Gorski. Search Fireworking or Fireworking 101 in youtube if you havent already found him. I will be building some shells in the next few weeks and will try and get some vids up.
@@Pyrolife-net Nice, I did make my tooling by the book , When the book came out. Ya I'm old. I use short milled pine or willow with these, maby an hr or so. But I have used a bulkhead. In the video there is an inset photo that shows the exact position to drill the hole and later in the video there is another inset photo that shows the angle to drill the hole
@pyrolife is it correct to assume a limit on length exists, because at some point the extra hole would create instability? I suppose you could always have it near the center but then it would just spin in place for a long time 🤔
I do have some tools from Woodys they are great gear and cant recommend them highly enough. The tools in the video are home made from Aluminum bar to suit the the tubes I had, made with a narrow nozzle and core to give good flight time
@@KAYLEBHD you can make them from Aluminium tube with similar size ID as your tubes, just cut done side lengthways with a hacksaw and use screw up hose clamps to keep add pressure. Can use polypipe as well but need to use more hose clamps
Doesn't adding metal like titanium into BP, up the risk of spark/ignition while packing or compressing the powder into rocket engines?

Sounds like your blackpowder fuel is not fast enough or the core (hole) is not long enough, or it could be other things hard to say without seeing it

This is why the position of the clay nozzle is marked after ramming the clay
