I wish I would’ve seen this video 2 weeks ago I spend 3k in parts, tow trucks and mobile mechanics diagnosing a cracked head this video and an 18 dollars relay saved me from spending money to open up my motor!! Thank you sir have a blessed day
Since the trip wire works it's easy to check to see if the problem is the ground or trigger wire. Plus with the parts we get these days even if the relay is new I would try another new one.
I am going through the same thing right now. I am glad I watched this video today Saturday, I promised to tow it to the mechanic on Monday, I can't wait to get to my truck tomorrow Sunday to try this out. But I am getting a J1939 Code, I looked it up it was communication code, I hope this fixed my problem tomorrow. Thanks for a great video in detail. Thank you thank you
I had a max force engine and it was fairly reliable, but I was told by quite a few paccar owners too stay away from paccar engines but like any engines you either get a good one or a bad one, but thanks Dan for sharing your knowledge.
Relays sometimes fail, but more often it's a lack of power to the coil of the relay calling it to engage. If I was troubleshooting this problem that would be the very next thing I would check. Having a schematic is important to be able to trace where the relay coil circuit runs. Remember that a relay does nothing more than convert a very low current and or voltage source circuit to being able to switch a circuit that draws more current and sometimes at a different voltage.
Its lkind of like when I changed the cam on my Honda Grom!.....I had to jump the reflashed ECU (Engine Controll Unit) and clear the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) by jumping it, before I restarted the bike! then took it on a good 30-45 minute ride so it could relearn its new map on the ECU!.......Fun Fun Fun!
Ok, Dan, please answer this important technical question……I have a restored ‘68 GTO… It has NO computer…on the highway, it starts cutting out at exactly 117 miles per hour???? Any suggestions????
Strange symptom on my 2012 388 Peterbilt the real and that you showed me gets very hot inside cab gauges start going crazy mainly RPM and speedometer gauge when I stopped the vehicle they are still all directions I turn it off then try to turn it back on and my RPM gauge temperature and hours do not show up anybody ever had that I have an mx-13 paccar epa10
So you "know the relay is good because it's new". If you can jump the contacts and it resolves the issue - then the relay is faulty even if new. Replace the relay and you're golden.
I heard a story about a trucking company owner in CA that has thousands of trucks in fleet and after 600K miles on paccar power plants to sell off the trucks as fast as possible, because of its increased failures and repair costs. Dan, Let us know what your permanent fix is for your 2013 yard ornament.
To Err is Human, to Really Foul things Up takes a Computer. Everything was a Lot Better before Computers. Computers force Consumers to use Mechanics. 🤪👎

The paccar engine is not bad. It's the electronics on it that suck

Governor on the motor so you can't go to top of speedometer.
valve springs. valves floating at high rpm
There was a time when I thought all that I needed was a CDL...................(then real life happened)
I can relate to your comment 100%
It work once but now still the same and nothing , no start 😞 any other suggestions ?
👍
can the relay be replaced to fix ?

MINE IS DOING THE SAME THING THANKS IN ADVANCE

Unless something before the relay is at fault.
Your dad didn’t raise no dummy 😂
lol 😂 thanks
It didn’t work for me anybody figure it out?

Dan, Let us know what your permanent fix is for your 2013 yard ornament.
It's actually 3 years and/or 480k miles.
These trucks and cars and just about anything these days are professionally engineered to FAIL!!!....Bottom line!!!😏👍
