Oh! Gotcha. Well, instead of adding a bevel modifier to your geometry and thus, create more polygons, you can "fake" them with the method we show. Basically, it is a technique used for game assets. It reduces the number of polygons basically. But be sure to have your UV island straightened before baking the bevels, otherwise, this can create jagged edges. Hope this helps! :)
