One of the key things he does not mention in this video, but I have seen him mention in others is the contact should be closer to the handle to avoid the spin reacting with the rubber and help counter the oncoming spin.
Isn't the serve shown in slo mo at 0:40 illegal? The ball goes behind his tee and it's impossible for the receiver to gauge how it's gonna come to him. Shouldn't it be a vertical throw up and down when you release the ball to serve? Just curious.
for a lefthander you do the same mouvement with the backhand ;-) or a banana flip to change the ball trajectory to the forehand side of you opponent with your backhand. Pity you don't see a lot of left-hand video's with this great tutorial.
The problem is the match does have an umpire to monitor that. It is pass vertical travel, but it is more important to focus on how to identify the spin and return it properly.
The serves has weaker spin and not short enough. weak spin serve should be flick at all time. though understandbly this is a tutorial. But With chinese tacky rubber expect the spin to increase 10 times.
The serve is meant to set up an attack. The spin doesn't have to be super spinny This much side spin can't be attack very hard if the ball goes deep. lt worked for me when l played Pros, included the Chinese.
The goal is to proper spin that makes the all gravitate to the forehand position. I'm not looking at making my elbow position perfect. Get to the LOOP!
@@DynamicTableTennisTV When service is weak spin and not disguised between top and back then the return is far easier. Correct technique on serve and reading spin is directly proportional to the chance of a good return. Your skill, loop and return lessons are great but need a better server. Server's bat should stop short and not extend or spin goes sideways and not into side backspin
@@MrRJames149 You are getting loss in focusing on having a perfect Serve. The player needs to get the ball to gravitate to the forehand. Your theory doesn't address what is next, which is most important, and that is how to start the attack sequence.
This gives away real secrets in a way I haven’t seen other UA-cam instructors do. Thanks
I have searched and this is the first video I have seen that addresses returning this serve. Great job!

I did not see any attack shots. If you know that you are getting a top spin rev pend serve, do you ever suggest attacking it?
At 3:05.. i thought that was a pendulum serve.. is it so?
Coach can I back spin the reverse service pendulum?
Nice Helpful video 👍. Thanks 🖐 🙄
Can you please show in terms of a left hander as well to understand bit more clearly?Thank You

That throw at :38 is ridiculous, great tip's otherwise.

Not good reverse pendulum serves. Elbow should be much higher. Brett Clarks like a boss tutorials really good to develop correct technique.

Under current rules isn’t that serve illegal? Shouldn’t the toss be directly vertical?
@Samit Gandhi no, the high serve toss can deviate almost half the width of the table unless they have changed the rules again.
