This video reminds me of my mother (she passed in 2016 at the age of 88). My mother was a child of the Great Depression in the United States. Despite her very humble upbringing, my mother was always beautifully presentable. Everyday, she would put on make-up, style her hair and put on nice clothes. She may not have had any designer labels but her clothes were always neat, clean, and pressed. She had a signature look with a headband and flower in her short hair. Every time we went out in public, people would come up to her and tell her how beautiful she was. She was a very classy lady. When I would visit her apartment building, and someone found out that I was Donna‘s daughter, they would tell me what a class act my mother was. You are absolutely right, Vivienne, you don’t need money to be elegant and classy. My mother was a perfect example.

@@princessirulancorrino4695 thank you for your beautiful reply. You described my mom beautifully. My mom had a kind and gentle spirit that gave her a beautiful glow and countenance. I truly believe that is what drew people to her. She was adorable, yes, but her spirit shined through her lovely face and people responded to that.

My mother was an elegant woman. She always looked her best. Never went to the nail salon, never had her hair styled professionally, or had a professional facial or mask. She did these things herself at home. She didn't have designer clothes but her taste in clothes and accessories was impeccable. Also, her speech and character were the best.

My grandmother was an elegant woman of very modest means. Someone once referred to her as a "poor old woman". That was the wrong thing to say! She pulled herself up to her full height, looked them in the eye and corrected them by stating "I am NOT a poor old woman. I might be mature and financially embarrassed but I will always be a lady. And it would be in your best interest to remember that." Her example changed my life.

I’m a widow and I met a widower because he mentioned he had been watching me because I carried myself different from the other women at the senior center where I attend. He said, “ you come in do your activities then you would leave and not hang around gossiping”. He liked that about me. I’ve always been a nice conservative dresser, wise with money and health conscious. They say I don’t look my age. Line dancing is one of my passions along with working with justice organizations. I like to read and I have an eye for decorating. I treat people like I would like to be treated. I relate to a lot of the things you mentioned and have taught my daughters to be ladies. I aspire to become better. Thank you.

Hello Belladonna, I have the same problem with my hands specially in winter. This is what I do: twice a week when I wash my hands I put a little bit of sugar to make a scrub, but be gently and only rub your hands for a minute or two. After that use a good lotion. Also you can visit a quiropractic at least twice a year 😉

Then I went to the thrift store and found used garments to wear to look presentable until I can lose the extra twenty lbs I am working to get off. You can start anywhere. I had to toughen up to protect myself and lost myself in the process. It’s not only about wearing a dress or heels but I was a free spirited and and laid back. My advice just be who you are and we are all beautiful, find your self and be comfortable❤

It’s refreshing to hear a young lady, talk about refining oneself at a low cost or no money at all, too many people focus on material things, and brand names too and many extravagant things that they cannot afford and a lot of times the person that’s talking about cannot afford it themselves, and they do not practice what they preach , this is why I say this is refreshing to hear . Beautiful video.

My darling, you are the epitome of the "Virtuous Woman" of Proverb 31:10-31!
I applaud you for unselfishly inviting us to share in this lovely journey of Leveling Up!
As a young girl, I had always been teased for my "Proper Speaking", having had a Military father-- that made my sisters and I learn three new words out of the dictionary every day-- we also had to tell him what the words meant, how to spell them, and put them in a sentence, along with pronouncing them correctly!
However, after perusing several of your videos-- I am appreciative for that discipline from my father, because he understood the value that enlightenment would mean to our lives as we grew into adulthood.
I am an avid reader and I love doing research. My greatest passion includes helping others to learn how to read, to speak and spell better.
So, when children ask me how to spell a word-- I excitedly say; "let's look it up in the dictionary"! And that enthusiasm rubs off on them😄

Beauty fact from an aesthetician: consistency is key! You can save the expensive and aggressive treatments for when you have big events coming up (not less than a month before ladies!)but a good daily practice will be the key to looking your best 24/7.
    *Wear less make up.
*A good quality daily cleanser will be an investment you won’t regret. You really need a very small amount (pea to dime size) and any excess just dries your skin. Use it at night (and after sweating like the gym or the beach). You can find good ones for $10-$50USD that will last 4-6 months easily.
*wear sunscreen daily. Even in winter. Even if you’ll be inside an office all day. WEAR IT.

I have a wardrobe that looks like a million dollars, and all of which came from my local goodwill. I bought only the things of high caliber quality! And the most impressive is beautiful diction and broadened vocabulary. This is lacking in the world today where vulgarity is the norm and even sadly comes out of young children.

Thank you so much. This talk is like a breath of fresh air in a smoky room. Elegance can be achieved and maintained with a low budget and starts in the mind. I find listening to classical music or instrumental classics very calming and peaceful and allows me to focus my thoughts and make better decisions. Also being from a community of loud and vulgar persons doesn't mean that something is wrong with me for wanting to be elegant and sophisticated doing things that improves my posture, speech and lifestyle décor even if it isn't common within my environment right, now its a mindset and an achievable quality. I believe every woman should strive to be elegant simply because we were made to function efficiently this way and it does add structure, beauty and a complimentary dimension of value to our feminine roles.

Absolutely love this video. You radiate Elegance Vivian ❤ I'd like to make a suggestion /warning to all ladies who want to broadly educate them self. Please be cautious to not fall into the Trap of "poverty education only" almost everyone I went to college with....yes even the individuals that now have master's degrees, ninety-nine percent of what they studied in school in all areas of study was related to Poverty problems / crime in other parts of the world and how "horrible life is" only. They were not taught to seek Solutions, they were not taught to think positively, and none of them even volunteer/donate or do anything to resolve the problems that they are freaking out all the time about. They are angry, judgmental, jealous, and absolutely hate anyone who even appears to have money. The default assumption is "if you are doing well you trampled on someone else to have that."
This is the new mark of being educated /civilized to many people. And it's NOT being educated. Learn valuable life skills, be a good person, make yourself happy, do not listen to people who want to "educate you" on "Why you should be in fear all the time."

Lot of times people think having the degrees means you’re above others. Those degrees in a specific subject won’t mask the requirements you need in life to live a meaningful, well rounded life of what Vivian describes in the video.
I’ve met so many doctors and lawyers who are far far from refined and won’t be able to comport themselves in simple tasks. These are life skills which needs to be taught from a young age.

Something that absolutely makes me smile about you is the way you speak. Not necessarily your accent, but the fact that you're always clear in enunciating. I listen to your videos just to practice allocutions. Thank you for being a fabulous example!

I keep coming back to this video...
I now wear makeup and perfume everyday to work.. (I'm a cleaner) I will not forget the day I went to work.. the client did a double take because he saw a different person compared to me just wearing sunscreen. (It does work) I got dressed up in a skirt. I got better treatment at the mechanic.

When I was 14 years old I lived in a closet in a tiny one room studio apartment above a pizza parlor in Menlo park. I lived with my old hunchback disabled Father on SSI. I was so poor I had to thrift for school clothes. I collected vintage pieces and guess brand or anything else that was designer or just nice looking. I put outfits together and wore something different every day. I went to middle school in a very rich area. I had a girl ask me if I was rich because of my outfits! That sure made me feel good!

Personally, I think elegance is better done on a shoestring budget. When I was first learning (still learning), I was losing weight, and had a supervisor at work that would watch me like a hawk. She grew up in LA Jolla..and spent a lot of money on her clothes..nails..hair..everything. I couldn't afford a fraction of what she spent on..anything. With my size changing so quickly, I spent my lunch hours at Thrift stores trying to keep up with my shrinkage. She would just kind of..stare. One day she blustered and ordered me into her office..said..I can't stand it. Where do you get your gorgeous clothes?? I have nothing like any of the things you have! Where are you shopping???
I knew she was going to smirk..but I told her anyway. Her jaw dropped.
After that, she started teaching me some of her secrets. I've discovered since that if you really try..do your best, others will come along and share what they know. If you're not trying? They won't waste their to me once you.
Since the new I've discovered thrift shops that specialized label brands..and tricks on how to get a good deal on shoes..things like that.
I really do think elegance is at its best on a shoestring.

I want to also thank you also, in general, for all that you are doing. Now, more than ever, the world and her peoples need this.
Lastly, thank you for reminding me of the kind of person I wanted to be. I am grateful for the work you are doing.

You know, I have been becoming more interested in trying to cultivate a more elegant or sophisticated way of being and this video is so spectacular. Many of the videos I have come across have been very superficial. How to "look" more elegant. How not to "dress" inelegantly. This is one of the first videos that I've come across that actually makes a point to say "actually cultivate yourself, not just your wardrobe". Kudos to you and I will be watching many more of your videos. Thank you so much.
