Today we got in a completely stock 2022 Kawasaki ZX14r. The ZX14r platform is PERFECT for a making big power! There is an endless list of modifications you can do to increase power and cut weight. For this particular motorcycle, the owner is having us do the oil mod, clutch mod, quick shifter, p08 air filter and a full exhaust. If you're looking for simple power upgrades for your zx14r, this is the most common list of mods you can do. And of course, to pull everything together and to ensure all of these upgrade produce the power they should, we'll be doing a custom dyno tune. Of course, we'll show you the dyno sheets before and after so you can see what every step made for power. If you're wondering if you need to tune your motorcycle after an exhaust or other performance mods, this will give you an idea of what can happen if you don't. Or what power you're missing out on by not getting a custom tune.
The exhaust of choice is the full Brocks Alien Head system. You'll get some great exhaust sound clips in this video! AND if you're wondering why your brocks exhaust doesn't say Stupid Fast on it, well, you have to order it that way. This is a stainless steel exhaust which we'll wipe down with brake clean before we burn it in so it's nice and clean and will continue to look great!
Once we get all of the performance parts installed, we throw it on the dyno to dial in the quick shifter and perform a custom dyno tune! The numbers that this motorcycle produced is exactly what we were expecting. Now remember, these bikes are almost limitless and we love working on them. We've done a ton of these and have little tips and tricks we use to ensure we get the most power out of your budget!

    I prefer the Hindle full titanium exhaust. I had one on my 1996 GSX-R 750. I ordered a Hindle slip on for my 2008 GSX-R 750 a few days ago just for a beefier exhaust note.

    Has anybody actually put a gsxr1000 k7 k8 motor in this bike yet? That would be a great set up, And for all the people who think k5K6 is better, you're wrong. The head on the 07 08 bike is much better, 175hp+ or-back wheel.

    Hi Eric just watched this. Trying not to be an alarmist but just looking out for your safety. You need to watch the chain in the video. The slack is nuts. I watched a dyno run last week and the chain was not as loose as yours. It snapped on deceleration and come up and hit the operator's upper leg, butt, and back. No info on how he made out or condition of the chain and sprockets prior to the run. I realize you said there is only 767 miles on the bike. The chain and sprockets should be in excellent conditions.

      @CharlesR.SteinruckIII the dyno really makes it look a lot worse than what it is truthfully. I agree I have seen some failures over the years but thank God nothing has happened to me yet. We usually do an inspection before we run it on syno to ensure it is okay visually to run and we're not going to encounter any issues 👍 I appreciate you looking out for me though and I'll keep that in mind for future dynos 🙌

    Nice work, good color scheme.I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one before they become extinct. There's some really ugly freaky looking bikes being made right now. I've followed a lot of 14x mods and haven't heard of the oil mod you performed. Is it just extra insurance or a must have upgrade, I'm all for preventing or correcting weak links. 👍👏👏👏

      ZX14R'S have a weak thin cast aluminum oil pump cover, a few companies make billet ones that don't flex and or crack like the stock one is susceptible to. The oil pressure relief valve is sometimes replaced as well , I believe from a stock 65 PSI to about 110 PSI.

      @drdanimalsize not 100%, a guy on a ZX14R forum was having issues with his oil pressure light being on unless above a certain RPM, I recommended looking at the cover after he had done many things trying to resolve it, sure enough his cover was cracked. He had bought it used so he didn't know how the previous owner used it. I race mine and have the billet cover but haven't installed it yet.

      @drdanimalsize there are a total of 3 oiling mods for the 14r. The 1st one is the oil pump plate. The oem cast one flexes at higher rpm, dropping oil pressure. So harder riding has the ability to flex the plate more which can cause pressure drop in motor (this causes issues like spun rod bearings, cam journal scoring, worn out buckets, etc). The second would be a high oil pressure relief valve. This valve opens when it hits certain pressure number to allow oil to dump back into the oil pan. The oil pressure valve helps to reduce engine issues by increasing oil pressure from the standard of 70psi to over 110psi. This keeps the oil all inside the motor and makes sure it is covering all areas more adequately! The last is the oil pump gear. Switching this increases the amount of oil pushed throughout the motor also. The major 2 to swap are the relief valve and the cover though. Keeping your oil level high and these two items will help ensure safety to your motor if you plan on abusing it 👍👍

    Another awesome video! Love the zx14’s! Always wondered why those big engines don’t make more horsepower than that? It’s a lot don’t get me wrong as I love mine as well, just seems most of the liter bikes put down very similar horsepower numbers with over 400cc less engine. Obviously the big 14 engine has a huge torque advantage, just curious as to what holds it back on making more horsepower? Keep the great videos coming, always look forward to them👍🏻

      A company called Carpenter Racing does performance packages for these bikes. They start with head porting and a cam. You can pick up 20-35 wheel hp with just that. They also advertise a 5-7hp increase when paired with bored throttle bodies. From there they start boring out the engine and stroking it. Seems the biggest limitation is the head and cam. Probably designed like that for mostly emissions and partly drivability since the bike is so heavy, moving the torque curve down makes sense. The ZX14 (previous gen 06-11) often swap in the ZX14r (current gen 12-24) cam to get a couple more HP.

      Kawasaki could have made the 14 a super high strung, high revving inline 4 like the liter bikes but chose not to. If you look at the liter bikes, they are redlining much higher and make all of their power up top. The 14 in stock trim really safety redlines at "only" 11k RPM or so. The 14 makes similar power but with almost 40lb ft of torque more than the liter bikes. With a different cam and head setup, you can move that power up top at the cost of low end power.

    I bought new injector but i noticed that the nozzle tip is damp/wet when i turn the ignition. Do you think its normal? It will start and run but i am afraid that my cylinder head will flood and it cause hydrolock. Should i buy new injector again or its normal? Sory for my English. Thank you

      @@Thecleananunseenteam 100% agree. I owned a 2009 before this one and loved it. This bike is the SE Black/Green Accents and was a single owner who maintained it meticulously. Runs like a champ, but of course being 11 years old I want to keep it that way. Brocks, Power Commander V3 and tuned already. I am sure the boys across the bridge can get some more out of her and keep her running for another 10.

      @Swisha90s it would ride like poop. The o2 sensors are designed from factory to aim for emission safe numbers which makes the bike drive horribly. That's the main reason why we shut them down in the first place.

    Aha i had 1 of these, very interesting. Mine made 90whp with full akra and filter, couldnt find any stacks at the time. Oddly it barely needed any tuning at WOT but everything in the midrange was shocking. I can also confirm the oscilation on the graph too here in uk trim. I also know of 2 others finding the same. 1 with pc5, 1 with rapidbike and mine flashed on woolich. A mystery it seems.

      @@sahillatiyal6886 it's all dependent on you ! They both move out with the right mods. If you are looking for big big power then I would recommend busa. If you want a fun/nimble street bike, then zx10r 💪

      Buy busa i ride GSXR750 and would go for busa...This bikes can be used as touring too they are so understressed

    So the most economical way to fix this situation is to try and rebuild this engine? Can insurance be used? It seems that a new one could be found for maybe $10,000 out the door? I’m just concerned there is so much damage. What caused this? Not checking the oil?

      @michaelrieser9928 we ended up swapping the motor out. The damage was so extensive, we would have to have rebuilt every piece almost. There was a handful of parts reusable from the motor but not enough to justify a rebuild. He had a warranty on the bike but the dealerships down here aren't the fastest on rebuilds / warranty claims. He knows that and told us he'd rather pay than wait months on end for the rebuild to take place through dealership. We had him in and out in less than 2 months with a new(ish) motor in the bike ripping down the street again! 🤙

      @michaelrieser9928 and the issue was low oil while front end was lifting up. Oil starved the head/crank and it destroyed a lot of components in motor.
