One of the few who can truly galvanize a moment and make it relatable to millions instantly. Haunting and tragically perfect--I'll never hear the song the same way again.
I still remember watching Paul Simon sing The Boxer on SNL the first time it aired again after 9/11. I found great comfort in his performance then and I found great comfort in it today. Thank you Paul.
This song is very special to me ! I was just a kid, when I heard this song, the first time, i can remember it wery vell. In my life, the sounds of silece has followed me throught the years. And when I heard Paul at 10th Anniversary of the 9-11! It took my breath away ! Paul ! the best ever !! For me, the sounds of silece are alvays conected to ground zero, can´t help it! RIP, everybody that lost there lives at that time! /Hans Bure /Sweden
I love Paul Simon. If you read the report he was scheduled to sing "Bridge over Troubled waters." He decided to sing "Sound of Silence." He know what we needed to hear.
emotional performance...written all over his face and in his voice. as i watched him....i couldnt fight off my tears as i am having the same reaction now while i listen and type. this was a beautiful performance. GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD GRANT US A UNIFIED PLANET
I heard this on the radio in car car just after my dad told me about the 911 attacks on my way home from school. It was also the first time I ever heard this song and it will always remind me of that day. Paul playing it on the anniversary couldn't be more fitting.
Paul, looking more like a grandfather than a 60's free spirit did the right thing he learned from his grandparents who did great things, he stood with us, he paid homage, he felt the scare and fear we all felt on that day. I recall that night the bastards struck the WTC who made make shifts boats that brought the injured to Jersey City while F-18 jet fighters guarded us in the skies up above. It was the most eerie experience and it was indeed silent. There were no words on that day. Just sadness and so much of it with restrained anger...and Paul, a native NY-er, reminded in so many songs over the long years, shown on aged but gentle face, you were our older brother and you did what the great generation did for your generation, you stood tall, you cried with us and you taught us to Never forget thru your music and spirit.................RIP !
I do not know how Paul did this song without crying ! I cried through the whole song, upmost in my memory is all the people who fell to their deaths and how they were innocent people who got up on a sunny morning not knowing a terrorist would take their lives, I will never forget all who perished NEVER!!
I must say that i have always goose-pimples when i hear that song, but now i have more than that, i have also tears in my eyes cos of the death who fellt on that terrible day i will every day remember ! I must say I hope there will be one day peace on Earth instead of war ! Cos it's always some one's dad or brother or sister or family !
He was supposed to play "Bridge Over Trouble Water" but did this instead for obvious reasons. He knows just like the countless millions and millions of us that have seen the evidence too. "Silence like a cancer grows". This was his message.
I was really little when the attacks happened but I feel like I remember. I think that every American, even ones who were born today, will remember. God Bless America.
On you go Paul. Your singing for all the people who never made it out of The World Trade Center. And all the civilians who did make it out and the brave ones who stayed behind and helped others. Never again.
I...i always felt a little guilty for not joining the military after 9-11...just got a new job and i wanted to see where it would take me..but i was the right age...i wish i had joined the army or marines on sept 12....didn't do it though
thumbs up if you think that instead of paul simon they should have got justim timberlake to sing CRY ME A RIVER LOL but seriuosly americans need to realise life goes on FORGIVE AND FORGET
It's sad that the terrorists have accomplished exactly what they wanted, to strike fear and sadness into a whole nation. RIP all 911 victims and Aldo all the firefighters, police officers and any other volunteers trying to save others.
@TeslaTechnologyRocks If your response to this song and the anniversary of 9-11 is intolerance, then the hijackers have succeeded in their spread of hate.

Beautiful song ever.....people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening....!
I loved hearing all the echoing voices singing along with him. This broke my heart!!
You can see the emotion he was feeling in his face and through his powerful voice when he was singing that song.
Esta canção tocou hoje meu coração, como quando a conheci em 1979, cantada pela dupla - Paul and Simon.
May those victims of 9/11 rest in peace for all eternity, you will never be forgotten.
Beautiful, Paul has a deep heart and soul.
The perfect rendition!!!!
Thank you Paul Simon... and god bless America.
Lindo Lindo Lindo
Que Deus Abençoe nosso Mundo
The majestic power of music...
Sin palabras, el silencio es el mejor recordatorio
Paul Simon, you helped us today.
I still remember watching Paul Simon sing The Boxer on SNL the first time it aired again after 9/11. I found great comfort in his performance then and I found great comfort in it today. Thank you Paul.

This is all so surreal. 10 years already but it feels like yesterday
My favourite Simon & Garfunkel song. Perfect song to use as a tribute to the victims of 9/11.

@Smullet90 Nothing if your blinded by the system
It would have been much better to have actual silence. But that would not have looked as good on TV :-/

How about a thousands kiled in Afganistan, Iraq, Vietnam, operation 'desert storm".Where is the memorial for all this people?
