  • We installed a wood stove from North Woods Fabrication in our shed using the Duravent DuraPlus Through the Wall Chimney Kit and chimney pipe.
    This is our first ever wood stove installation. We tried to do everything as safe as possible. Hoping to stay warm and toasty on our visits up to the off grid property this winter.

    Next time u use the saws all put the blade in with teeth facing up so can see easier where the line is wile u cut so u will be cutting upwards try it so much easier for following lines

    Its all very well done . This is actually , how it should be done . A wood stove can be your best friend, if safety is the first rule . But the same wood stove can be your worsth enemy if treated wrong. And some fire bricks inside is a really good idea, it protect the stove, and give longer heat 👍

      Thank you! We wanted to be as safe as possible and not take any chances. We've seen some very questionable wood stove installs all over UA-cam... We will look into adding fire bricks.

    Honey, It pipe single wall goes inside like you did. It's called Shingling so creosote runs back down inside and gets burned up. Doesn't drip outside when it runs down pipe. Water steam and other objects too.

    You may want to line interior with firebrick to prolong life of stove

    Do you think it is wise to mount the CO alarm that high up. Because carbon monoxide is heavier than normal air, so it might be smarter to mount it lower😊

      We thought the same thing so we looked it up when we installed it. CO is lighter than air so it does rise. You do raise a good point though, I double checked the height it should be at and it should be 5ft up the wall, ours is a little higher than that so I'll lower it. Thanks for your comment!

    I believe double wall is class B one inch clearance to combustibles. I can and have been mistaken.

      @OffGridOnTheLand  10 місяців тому

      I believe it depends on the pipe manufacturer. Some have closer clearance and some are further away.

    Very nice install job, but the volume for the music gets kind of loud on almost every UA-cam video I've seen unless the content creator does some good editing, please check the volume before publishing thanks

      Noted! I will focus on reducing background noise in future videos.

    you know corregated metal sheets like for roofing is probably easier then cement board on the walls from Bush Radical

    • @OffGridOnTheLand
      @OffGridOnTheLand  11 місяців тому

      That is a good point, I'm glad you brought this up. The manufacturer for the wood stove stated to use 24 gauge metal or thicker for heat shielding. All of the corrugated metal roofing we could find at Lowes or Home Depot was 29 gauge or thinner (larger the number, the thinner the metal). We could have gotten sheet metal but the sheets were pretty expensive and the store didn't have enough sheets to cover the wall fully, so that was the deciding factor to go with the wall board and cement board.

    Insulate the walls and it will
    Even warmer...

    • @OffGridOnTheLand
      @OffGridOnTheLand  10 місяців тому

      Yeah insulating would definitely be ideal. I don't really want to spend the money on that right now because we are planning on just having the stove in there temporarily. If it were longer term, I would definitely air seal and insulate.

    Why isn't the sawsall the right tool ? It is called a Saws All!

      Haha good point! Maybe a hack saw would've been better but we made it work.

      I’m sorry to break the news, but the pipes are going in the wrong direction to the stove from the inside wall. Insert needs to be going in the direction of the smoke to the outside, without the inside of the pipe catching the smokes air flow. Just an observation.

    Your video was too boring.

      @OffGridOnTheLand  10 місяців тому

      Hey Canadians2214, thanks for the comments, we'll try to improve on future videos. However, the reality of a wood stove installation is that not every part of the process is exciting. Lighting the first fire sure is though!

    put a door gasket on your stove.
