Andrew, what an incredibly helpful and detailed video in so many ways. From hardware to lighting settings and so many tip. Love Love Love your content, old time TubeBuddy follower/Creator now, lol
First CBD Headquarters, I recognize you as soon as I saw your comment. I'm glad to see you're a creator now too! I always aim to help empower any creator! @@AndrewK I keep changing or should I say improving my recording setup and was looking for better lighting solutions. So happy I came across this one as it was so perfectly timed. Look I'll keep following and consuming your awesome content because its flat out on point! Cheers and a happy 2022 back to you.
I actually bought the sl100d… great quality and brightness but… that fan!!! It lasted 30seconds on my light stand and I returned it immediately. I have been using the ambitful fl80 for sometime now which is basically a rebranded sokani x60. It still has a fan that can be heard when you use a condenser mic like i do when i record my guitars, but I find it highly tolerable. It blends in with the room noise MUCH better than the sl100d, I’d say that the fan noise sounds more “neutral”. Gotta say, I fell in love with the godox when I turned it on but that fan noise is just too much 😩. (The UL60 would be the best option but that thing is slightly too expensive for me rn 😅). Btw u have a Samsung? Not an iPhone?? I’m outta here!!! (Kidding 😜 great video man, thanks for sharing) P.S. i missed the opening line “I’m Andrew Kan and if I can, you can”… yes you have it at the end but… i think it’s a much better hook at the beginning, just my humble opinion 😊
Hello Drew Project thank you so much for sharing your experiences with the light. That's why I call attention to the fan in the review and mention I tried to use it as a hairlight and had to change. I find when it's farther away like in the different examples I used you can't hear it, but I do understand that 100%. I do have an android phone haha I like it a lot, and I think the quality in the video looks good. The tagline is still in the video, and some people say "You don't even say your phrase anymore." Usually I know they didn't watch until the end! haha for this one it was getting long and I wanted to focuse the value on the light and the story of how this is a great light for use. Thank you so much for the kind words and support!
@@AndrewK have you ever used the sokani x60? Or my version, the ambitful fl80? I think i saw a detailed comparison on tl;dr channel and according to him it slightly shifts towards magenta compared to Godox lights… but it’s still very good (and CHEAP)

@@AndrewK Your Welcome Bro! i Sure Kan! lol I have the Elgato Key Light Air, and it works Great, not that bad Price wise, some may say a little steep, but you get what you pay for now a days!
Hey Andrew! amazing tutorial on this light. I'am a film photographer and looking for a budget friendly continuous light. can you use this at 200/400 iso with 125/1 and f stop around f2.8 till f5.6? hope to hear from you. thanks again.
I want to mention that this light, with it's single point source is much more harsh and produces much sharper contrast/shadows than the panel LED lights with multiple LED bulbs. I bought one of these and even with a 20" lantern softbox, the light was much more harsh than my Neewer SLN-660 panel light and only marginally more powerful so I ended up returning it. I'm using the neewer with a 16"x8" softbox and it's more pleasing, less contrast, less harsh. I think the multiple LEDs of the panel lights end up spreading the light source and reducing the shadows.
As I say use what works best for you. I like the look of this and I use panels too. Can also use less intensity and readers or move the light source. But again use what works best for you. I use both. I use this though as my key light even to this day.
@@AndrewK less intensity doesn't effect harshness/contrast/shadows. The lightsource / latern softbox was about 1 foot away from my face with this light so it's about as soft as it can be. It really needs a deflector in front of the LED to make the light wrap more. As it is, with a white softbox like the lantern and with a laser beam of light coming out of the LED, not much light is diffused, thus the sharp shadows
Hello I hope you can help me … I’m starting a 3 hosts podcast and I’m thinking either buying this or the La150 … both with the Godox lantern … normally I would go directly for the 150 but the fan also is an issue I think more than the sl 100 … is the 100 enough or should I take the la150 … great review and thank you in advance
I dont Know 😂 based on what you said the light is enough on the sl100 … the fan noise tho… does the 150 being a bit more powerful means I can put it a bit far ? To avoid the noise ?it will be Dynamic mics … I think I will be fine with the sl100 plus it is the B so I can get that warm light when needed…. You have no idea how many reviews and comparisons I watched…let’s decide now together 😂
@@AndrewK hmm thats a good question. I have with the mic but not the camera. Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I didnt realize I had options there.
