That leave as with $1.8 trillion that would be partly funded by a VAT(and he's proposing only half of Europe's level) mostly on luxury goods, being food items exempt). That brings the bill down to $800bn and here is where the magic of the trickle up economy happens. The extra cash would be mostly spent right away in the local economy, since most of the country live paycheck to paycheck, with car repairs they putting off, better nutrition, a night out, etc, and people would feel less distressed and desperate which immediately and dramatically reduces property crime and, therefore, incarceration (which is extremely costly), as well as hospital emergencies(as studies show that stress due economic insecurity is one of the biggest drives in heart diseases) and problems with domestic violence which currently overwhelms police departments across the country, and the list goes on. And for the biased notion that UBI would make people lazy, studies in Canada and India have proven that it actually increases productivity, creativity, community services, etc Now all that would be extremely benefial to our society per se and the idea was brought up in various periods of our history. The difference is that now it will become increasingly necessary due to AI revolution replacing human labor and the sooner we address that reality the better off we'll be when it strikes us with full force. @cj7 doll Hi, there! Good question with a simple answer: He plans to use a VAT, value-added tax. A VAT targets every step of a production process - materials, manufacture, goods - and is one of the hardest kinds to avoid, even for our largest corporations. It works like a sales tax in that it will be greater depending on purchases and consumption. However, Yang's plan specifies that his VAT will be half of the European VAT (~10%), and only be levied the most (10% or higher) on items that are luxuries (golf courses, yachts, Lambos, etc.), but not at all on staple goods like food, groceries, clothing, furniture, etc. It will run along a scale, so certain items may be taxed more than others. (i.e. A daily-use car won't be at the same level of a Lamborghini. Not sure how much, though.) So, coupled with UBI, someone would have to spend at least $120,000 in a year to be at a net loss. Not even most businesses would spend so much. Inflation may still happen, but it won't "cancel out" UBI. Still, Yang is open to new ideas, so if there is any problem implementing this plan, he's willing to change some details if he has to. I hope that helped!
I'll also add that the UBI will not need another "3 trillion" because we already spend 1.5 tril on welfare programs already. The VAT can cover the other half by chipping off from our big tech, which easily make many billions every year, and removing many on welfare (except pensions, SSR and SSDI) and cut down on that 1.5 tril to spend on UBI. It ought to be completely covered within a year or two.

As Andrew points out nearly half of that bill (your is quite inflated,bc the recipients would be from age 18) is already being spent as various income support programs, which are a pain in the neck for the recipients due to all the oversight and requirements. That leave as with $1.8 trillion that would be partly funded by a VAT(and he's proposing only half of Europe's level) mostly on luxury goods, being food items exempt). That brings the bill down to $800bn and here is where the magic of the trickle up economy happens. The extra cash would be mostly spent right away in the local economy, since most of the country live paycheck to paycheck, with car repairs they putting off, better nutrition, a night out, etc, and people would feel less distressed and desperate which immediately and dramatically reduces property crime and, therefore, incarceration (which is extremely costly), as well as hospital emergencies(as studies show that stress due economic insecurity is one of the biggest drives in heart diseases) and problems with domestic violence which currently overwhelms police departments across the country, and the list goes on. And for the biased notion that UBI would make people lazy, studies in Canada and India have proven that it actually increases productivity, creativity, community services, etc Now all that would be extremely benefial to our society per se and the idea was brought up in various periods of our history. The difference is that now it will become increasingly necessary due to AI revolution replacing human labor and the sooner we address that reality the better off we'll be when it strikes us with full force. All in all, the question isn't "why UBI?" but "why not UBI?". Have a great day.

@cj7 doll Hi, there! Good question with a simple answer: He plans to use a VAT, value-added tax.
A VAT targets every step of a production process - materials, manufacture, goods - and is one of the hardest kinds to avoid, even for our largest corporations. It works like a sales tax in that it will be greater depending on purchases and consumption.
However, Yang's plan specifies that his VAT will be half of the European VAT (~10%), and only be levied the most (10% or higher) on items that are luxuries (golf courses, yachts, Lambos, etc.), but not at all on staple goods like food, groceries, clothing, furniture, etc. It will run along a scale, so certain items may be taxed more than others. (i.e. A daily-use car won't be at the same level of a Lamborghini. Not sure how much, though.) So, coupled with UBI, someone would have to spend at least $120,000 in a year to be at a net loss. Not even most businesses would spend so much. Inflation may still happen, but it won't "cancel out" UBI.
Still, Yang is open to new ideas, so if there is any problem implementing this plan, he's willing to change some details if he has to. I hope that helped!
I'll also add that the UBI will not need another "3 trillion" because we already spend 1.5 tril on welfare programs already. The VAT can cover the other half by chipping off from our big tech, which easily make many billions every year, and removing many on welfare (except pensions, SSR and SSDI) and cut down on that 1.5 tril to spend on UBI. It ought to be completely covered within a year or two.

He says that he agrees with the spirit of the green new deal but that it really does little the slow the overall climate change because we contribute only 15% of the toxic emissions. He has some other Big Ideas using geo-engineering and other technologies (something that most other politicians know nothing about). he says clearly that he is not sure which one will work and that is why he likes the ones that we can put up and if they do not give the desired results take them. And try something else. One reason I love him is that his brain is wired to solve problems. It does not matter where the problems came from, or who to blame for them, or how long they have existed. His brain naturally and effortlessly goes to work looking for Solutions. I find it amazing to watch.

State Representative is probably easy, or look for a Council member, Ward Leader or Democratic Executive Committeeperson, or go to the Mayor's Office. If that fails, go to the public library or DMV and say you want to register to vote, or change your party if you're already a voter.
After it works, you should get a voter registration card in the mail. In May, you will be able to vote for Yang (or if he isn't available for some reason, consider Tulsi Gabbard, and if they're both out, try Bernie Sanders. If none of them are on any ticket, even as VP, then it's too late. Maybe Marianne is still an option?)
Then a few days later, re-register again as a Republican, or a Green, or a Libertarian, anything that isn't Democrat, because then you'll see that the Democrat party did not let a decent candidate stand. You should still try, because they might drop the ball and let Yang win, but I would amazed if he was selected as the nominee, even if he gets the votes. It doesn't matter because in November you can vote for whoever you like without Party restrictions.
