There's that phenomenon that people who have committed certain offenses like to hide in plain sight, often by vocally and publically opposing them. It's a wild thought, but originally it was Kramnik himself who was at the center of the most famous historical chess cheating accusation, and it was him being accused. Imagine if a part of why he's doing all of this now is that he wants to ground his reputations as firmly as he can as "the guy who fought against cheating", because deep down he's scared that some day people would find out that he *did* actually cheat in his match against Topalov all those years ago, and all of it now is just a smokescreen, so that even if people remember him a bitter and delusional old man in the end, they will never again think to put his morals into question. Dayna did use an engine. He needs to own up to it. I’m a 1100 and I beat chessbrah Eric on viewer challenge. I have proof of it. I would be mad if Eric used it vs me. Danya thinks bc he went to Stanford he knows about life. He’s not street smart. He better watch his back

If it were about proving his suspicion, a former world champion would choose the strongest cheaters, get them in their favorite format, say 3.0 and discussion is over. But even he doesn't truly think any of them cheat, in my opinion. I think he hates farming and decides that it in itself is a form of cheating, though semantically it is not.

And Kramnik and Nepo aren't even allowed to fly their country flag in tournaments last I checked. This wouldn't be the first or the last time chess was used as a proxy battlefield.

@@RG001100 But that doesn't explain Nepo's behavior and why all these accusations seem to be concentrated and originating from a single country. A bit of a co-inkydink, don'tcha think?
i can definitely feel a few jokes aimed at Kramnik but that is his own fault for being so ridiculous, i can see Eric is for sure objective about it but the logic shows that Kramnik is going too far... Also there is a big difference between using an engine in casual/serious games and a speedrun... 1. in a speedrun all points are given back to the losing player used for instructional content. 2. Dayna used the engine to speed up analysis to maximize the instructional value in terms of time. 3. he did NOT use the engine to gain a match winning advantage. 4. an 1100 really has no chance of a win or draw down that much material against a GM let alone one of Danyas level. I agree he should not have used the engine, but with these combined facts I am also able to forgive this slip because he completely explained it and it logically makes sense how he could make this mistake. im 1600 bullet 1580 blitz 1400 rapid 😅 (a lot of cheaters in rapid it feels like, of course a feeling is not proof.. often see people getting 90+ accuracy even at this rating)
When Kramnik said, "It meets all definition of cheating," was he talking about glancing to the side of the monitor for two seconds, or about using an engine during a speedrun once? Either way, that statement has no validity and kills any credibility Kramnik had left in my opinion.
@@ronniemacdonald2768 it’s actually still not cheating. Cheating would be using the engine to get an unfair advantage. Danya used it to analyze the beginning of the game and not the current position. So while it is not cheating, it is an infringement on Chesscoms fair play rules.
@@WilliamCacilhasi agree with you on the condition that there has to be an unfair advantage to be actually called cheating. The problem rather is that by using an engine in a game you create suspicion. The line to using it in other matches besides speedruns is very slim. But I wouldnt accuse him honestly. That would be too much.
1:00 The thing is; whilst Kramnick is "technically asking questions", he clearly has answers to those questions already at least in his head. So any answer from Danya that deviates from those is a lie or an attempt to manipulate. It's how this situation appears to me at least.
Eric you really need to watch part 2 of Krmanik’s latest cheating video on Danya. I really want to hear your thoughts on it. It’s powerful to say the least.
It's concerning how Eric actually is trying to take Kramnik seriously. But we all know the truth he is only farming content and views making 1000 videos reacting to this and that. Just sitting and watching while making comments here and there and never really taking a side. Easy money baby.
I find Kramnik so amusing tbh, idk why so many people get upset by him. His mannerisms, his demeanour, his investigations, he’s hilarious and even has his own catchphrases now
It just goes to show how much of a genius Kramnik is. Danya has been playing chess his entire life, he probably has thousands of hours of streaming, he teaches chess in his youtube channel and in real life, he does commentary and he's 2640 Fide, even beating Caruana with black in the US championship. Yet, Kramnik is the only one who caught him.
It is so incredibly disrespectful of Kramnik making all these allegations about some of the best players of all time, who've spent their whole lives studying and becoming great at the game. What an absolute scumbag.
Kramnik is completely unreasonable in his claim that he is "only asking questions". He must know what damage he is inflicting on an innocent player. His arguments do not hold water and he appears to be obsessed with grasping at every little straw that could support his conviction.
Damaging WC by trying to reduce cheating in chess, in a world where there are so many ways to cheat in online chess? Why would they want to stop him from doing that?
This has all gotten very silly. Danya's misdemeanors have been committed for instructional purposes, so hardly the crime of the century. However, online play is generally full of cheats - just accept it. I can't see how that can ever change. Stockfish may be able to scrutinize someone's play for hitting the top engine move too often, but what if someone only cheats in critical periods, on odd occasions, or maybe they use an older engine that shows a lower correlation with the latest Stockfish output. Best to treat all online stuff as knockabout, non-serious chess and save your results-based aspirations for OTB, where cheating is fairly rare.

@@magnumdongsen2141 It's a reference to something that happened during Kramnik's stream. During a game on TT, he suddenly had to go out of the room and "let his daughter in" who just came home from school.
Danya’s willingness to open the engine before the game is over on a speedrun where the player will be reimbursed anyway shows he doesn’t cheat. If he was a cheater, he wouldn’t dare utter the word engine on any stream. Side note my phone wanted to correct “Danya’s” to “Santa’s” so there’s that too.
Kramnik is a cyberbully per definition. Doesnt matter if he is right or not. He should get a lawsuit or at least punishment from plattforms and community for harrassing people the way he does.
One thing I don't quite get though is this: Why does Danya have an additional engine that can run parallelly to the game? Isnt the one built into chesscom good enough for a post game analysis? And further, if hes using such an engine, he must've either input the moves manually, which didn't seem like he did since his behaviour was so nonchalant, or he has one that automatically processes his inputs from the game. I didnt watch the whole game though, so I dont know the full context, Im just wondering
@@sabiotiopablo5787 I see. I don't actually watch his streams, so I'm not accusing him of anything. I actually think he's a genuine guy. But I was wondering about that
All one needs to do is watch Danya commentating live on big games with other great chess grandmasters. He is usually the one who after a bad move would see the continuation first and call it out. And usually the combinations that he sees are difficult to calculate on the spot. Also, on lichess, there are countless bullet games played against Magnus, and his record is pretty good considering how strong Magnus is.
@@fangiscool1 I can't tell if you mean that you're allowed to use engines on lichess, which is incorrect, or that it's possible to use an engine there, which is true for any chess site.
The worst thing about Kramnik is he knows he is being disingenuous. I have never been particularly good at anything but I would hazard a guess that if I was and then my abilities began to fade I might find that very hard to deal with. This is by no means an excuse for what Kramnik is doing but simply a possibility. Personally I find the whole situation very sad and am at odds with myself to add fuel to a fire that clearly needs putting out.
I think this is good for chess. Maybe not for Danya, but the reality is, chess is always in decline until something happens. A netflix series. Hans Drama. A crazy old man calling everyone a cheater. You may not like it, but Kramnik is making chess relevant. People are talking about it, memes are being created and shared. And FIDE when asked about it... "Oh.. you know, that's nepo... lol". I don't want to get all conspiratory and if it's not like that it doesn't matter, one thing is clear tho. Everything keeps being relevant as long as there is drama. Humans are nozy, we love conflict. Keep getting upset and making videos about it, you are all helping chess stay relevant.
Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed in how Eric is approaching this. I feel it’s a bit disingenuous toward Danya. He’s being way too neutral and lenient toward Kramnik’s strange ramblings. Is he just farming content or respecting Kramnik too much?
It's not uncommon, but it is unfortunate. People who are brilliant in one subject sometimes become filled with an excess of confidence such that they firmly believe they are brilliant in some other subject (or sometimes _all_ other subjects) even when they actually lack expertise. Kramnik believes he's an expert in cheating detection when he is not.
Interesting to see when two opposing party of people claim "it's only logical" to support their belief, and some even try to break down their logic. Don't forget that logic is also relative, and has "an elo level". Just like when a GM make a move that don't make sense to you, until they explain it and it blows your mind. Logic works the same way. No wonder it was taught as one of the main subject in medieval universities, and still a strong one today.
Not sure why anyone would take offense at you calling out a previous world champion. Doesn't mean he's not a see you next Tuesday in other aspects of his personality.
I was originally skeptic but the more I look into this, the more it seems that Daniel indeed is a cheater. I think it would be wise to start an official investigation and temporarily ban Daniel from money tournaments while its going on.
I think Kramnik is running an extortion operation. He will stop accusing you if you pay him for coaching or if you play a grudge match for decent money
We gotta start asking questions what's the point of those questions if it's not for bullying. He started asking them only after being refused to pay for stakes. It's not to make accusations as Kramnik says. Why picking one particular person. Why not make clear statements that can be proven or disproven? Is it to inspire mob to go after some one? I think every statement Kramnik made in case of danya was false and most serious issues he poses as questions.
Cameras at home from all angles during home tournaments targeting saccades is an extremely effective way to stop cheaters at home. I see this in the future of online tournaments of course with money involved, to protect integrity of game. Eyes should not deviate from center of screen while game is in progress thst often. What will b the purpose. After game is over, saccades should b ignore but during games, seriously scrutinized.
Kramnik is doing all this for Hans. Hans felt like it was impossible to defend himself, against the accusations. And so Kramnik is putting popular people in the community in the same situation, even if they don't deserve it.
Chess drama just has a way of amplifying itself like few other genres can, truly electrifying stuff here. Stranger than fiction, Vlad seriously needs to get off the internet and chill with real honest folks for a while to recharge.
This Kramnik dude seems to be a crank. Another one of those conspiracy nutters. There must be some psychological reasons why people do these things but at a certain point in life they just go off the rails and become odd! He needs to be ignored from now on, presumably the airtime is giving him something? Danya always acted with class and should rise himself above this nonsense. Just laugh at Kramnik. I’d try and wind Kramnik up more if I was him!!
Kramnik is running a shakedown racket. Accuse lower rated players of cheating and then "settle it" with a pink slips match. A gopnik who thinks he's the big man on his block.
based on Kramnik’s behavior up to this point, it seems like unfortunately he’s too pompous and conceited to ever accept any refutations to his accusations no matter the evidence. either all of his arguments are proven justified (extremely unlikely) or he dies on this hill along with his reputation.
Actually he's staking his own reputation in order to call out cheaters. No one would dare do this. The truth is there are a lot of top GMs who may be sus but no one is willing to call them out. I mean look at the hans vs magnus situation. Hans was sussed by many gms but no one voiced it out

Y'all ever heard of Drug Induced Psychosis?? What we're seeing right now from Kramnik, is 100% Chess Induced Psychosis. If you have friends or know people that do hard drugs the similarities are insane.
Not even close to the first world champ to lose it in later years. Almost like their brains have been working at such a high level in their youth, they have now lost it. Like an engine that has been revved to shit
It's a conspiracy theory for sure, but somehow the more compelling to me the more I think about it.
Good point. Not a consistory though if one person is involved.
Shakespeare said it "He protesteth too much".
There was a whole 2 hour argument today in Russian was insane, watched Dina/s stream where she translated it
Kramnik has gone off the deep end.
someone asked Kramnik when Danya added four cameras if there was anything he could do to prove his innocent and he said probably not 🤷♂
@@Jon-s8q I fully agree with you! Kramnik is implying that Danya is using a chess engine for cheating and I see no evidence of that he was only analyzing a game nothing more!
Dayna did use an engine. He needs to own up to it. I’m a 1100 and I beat chessbrah Eric on viewer challenge. I have proof of it. I would be mad if Eric used it vs me. Danya thinks bc he went to Stanford he knows about life. He’s not street smart. He better watch his back
And Kramnik keeps refusing Nihal's and Hikaru's challenges.
That doesnt make sense. He's accusing them of cheating, not being scrubs. Hikaru is a top 5 over the board player in all formats, except rapid. That isn't what's in dispute
I really want to know what Kasparov thoughts about this, about Kramnik recent behavior in online chess world because Kasparov and Kramnik are very close.
Would be great if you can interview Kasparov about this lol
This situation is a moral litmus test. If you don't sympathize with and support Daniel, you aren't anyone I need to know. He's almost heartbroken having to defend himself against one of his idols.
4:15 "Definitely not a winning squad" LOL
These GMs are playing 4d chess while I'm stuck playing d4
Didnt kramnik also accuse hikki? Why doesnt he challenge him to a 50k winner takes all blitz match?
Sorry but Hikki is occupied for Hachiman
Hikaru said he'd only play him if they both stake 1 million. His point being that Kramnik needs to put his money where his mouth is and 50k isn't gonna actually hurt him.
@@AndMoreso Hikaru is conveniently ignoring the fact that you can be a great player and still cheat. A world class Hikaru would be expected to beat an old, retired, out of practice Kramnik. It wouldn't prove Hikaru's innocence.
@@weevil601 if the match doesn't prove his innocence then the challenger (kramnik) would be the one "conveniently" ignoring that Hikaru would be expected to win. Obviously Hikaru should demand more money so he isn't wasting his time
@@jacoblewis6616comment makes no sense
Eric, has anyone mentioned that geopolitics could be the simplest explanation for Kramnik's behavior? There is a proxy East vs. West hot war happening right now, after all. And Kramnik and Nepo aren't even allowed to fly their country flag in tournaments last I checked. This wouldn't be the first or the last time chess was used as a proxy battlefield.
I don’t think it’s a useful explanation to reach for.
“Kramnik’s doing this because it gets attention” is much simpler. (Or “because he’s upset Naroditsky beat him in a blitz game”).
@@RG001100 But that doesn't explain Nepo's behavior and why all these accusations seem to be concentrated and originating from a single country. A bit of a co-inkydink, don'tcha think?
@@AI-Wire Kramnik is leading this and working with those arpund him. Pretty simple explanation dude
I agree. I know Daniel even defends his Russian followers, but this is right up Russia's alley.
i can definitely feel a few jokes aimed at Kramnik but that is his own fault for being so ridiculous, i can see Eric is for sure objective about it but the logic shows that Kramnik is going too far...
I agree he should not have used the engine, but with these combined facts I am also able to forgive this slip because he completely explained it and it logically makes sense how he could make this mistake.
im 1600 bullet
1580 blitz
1400 rapid 😅 (a lot of cheaters in rapid it feels like, of course a feeling is not proof.. often see people getting 90+ accuracy even at this rating)
When Kramnik said, "It meets all definition of cheating," was he talking about glancing to the side of the monitor for two seconds, or about using an engine during a speedrun once? Either way, that statement has no validity and kills any credibility Kramnik had left in my opinion.
Using an engine during a game.
That makes no sense. @@ronniemacdonald2768
The saddest thing is that after saying "this is proof" and "this is cheating by definition" for the 24th time, he still pretends to not accuse anyone.
1:00
The thing is; whilst Kramnick is "technically asking questions", he clearly has answers to those questions already at least in his head. So any answer from Danya that deviates from those is a lie or an attempt to manipulate.
It's how this situation appears to me at least.
Yea that's how asking a question works
@@SmartWatches-xu6ri lol what
It's word play. He's a manipulator. You can clearly accuse someone without specifically saying the exact words. His questions are rhetorical.
@@SmartWatches-xu6ri Not quite. You're thinking of a rhetorical* question.

You were mentioned by name in his latest. Highly recommend you watch the whole thing, it’s gold
His mannerisms, his demeanour, his investigations, he’s hilarious and even has his own catchphrases now
What is this inception, now Im waiting for danya reacting to chessbrah reacting to danya reaction to kramnik
Say what you want about kramnick, but the dude knows how to do internet chess drama. Its paying the bills
Except he hasn't, he has just exposed himself as a paranoid fool. Honestly he's gone from respected ex WC to a joke and an embarrassment chess!
@@JezzBowden I know bro just making fun of him for going after someone like danya. Next he's gonna accuse hikaru
It is so incredibly disrespectful of Kramnik making all these allegations about some of the best players of all time, who've spent their whole lives studying and becoming great at the game. What an absolute scumbag.
Brah get to work. There are like a bazillion new videos to comment :)
the intensity of Hikaru's beads isn't controlled only by evaluation numbers of his engine, Eric's videos make them very juicy
Kramnik is completely unreasonable in his claim that he is "only asking questions". He must know what damage he is inflicting on an innocent player. His arguments do not hold water and he appears to be obsessed with grasping at every little straw that could support his conviction.
Why people don't get that Kramnik is mentally ill and is screaming for help!?

Someone top like Kasparov , Magnus or Anand should call kramnik and ask him to move on and let him know he is damaging WC glamour
Damaging WC by trying to reduce cheating in chess, in a world where there are so many ways to cheat in online chess? Why would they want to stop him from doing that?
2:38 There is a chessboard in front and he knows the evaluation is equillibrium? Interesting
Big up Fred Again | Boiler room 🙌🏼and Glen Gould 🎹
Kramnik has to let his daughter in from school every time he's in a complex situation. Sometimes she goes to school 5 to 8 times a day! He's a projector.
what. .... ???
@@magnumdongsen2141 It's a reference to something that happened during Kramnik's stream. During a game on TT, he suddenly had to go out of the room and "let his daughter in" who just came home from school.
Oh my. I became a fan just for recommending Equilibrium. That's a great one.
Can't believe I'm watching a chess video and see stats vs film, the best weekly fantasy football video 🤯
Imagine trying so hard to be called a clown by the people and still does it anyway. This kramnik guy is such an infamous legend.
9:20 gave me a chuckle, but also shows that there are levels that seem insurmountable at times when I see a gm analyze the game.
At this point it's all getting a little high school-ish.
"a little" I would say extremely high school-ish
Kramnik is a cyberbully per definition. Doesnt matter if he is right or not. He should get a lawsuit or at least punishment from plattforms and community for harrassing people the way he does.
So funny how most of this accusation stems from a move that was utter under the breath and WASNT EVEN PLAYED
I didnt watch the whole game though, so I dont know the full context, Im just wondering
i think he uses the other engine because its faster. the other point is a valid question
@@sabiotiopablo5787 I see. I don't actually watch his streams, so I'm not accusing him of anything. I actually think he's a genuine guy. But I was wondering about that
I've seen enough. I will now perform the procedure.
Danya often has an engine going when he's commentating. I would say usually.
Commentators use engines and you can use an engine on lichess
An ethics complaint should be filed against Kramnik with FIDE.

I PVP a Hikaru vs Kramnik 24 games 3+0 or a Daniel Narodivsky vs Kramnink same 3+0.
Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed in how Eric is approaching this. I feel it’s a bit disingenuous toward Danya. He’s being way too neutral and lenient toward Kramnik’s strange ramblings. Is he just farming content or respecting Kramnik too much?
If he says anything bad about kramnik then he'll be the next cheating target. The brahs want to farm, not get farmed
The major thing I take from this video is how deep down angry and sad Danya is.
Hikarus second monitor must be on the ceiling to his right 😂😂
Glad TightKnights is featured!!!
They've been killing with their edits. I highly recommend that channel.
Agreed. That channel is amazing.
I'm not a GM, but I saw Bc8, not because to trap Bishop on g5, but to defend b7 Pawn.
It's like watching amateur hour with Kramnik; he doesn't even seem interested in drawing conclusions supported by facts and data.
This just proves my hypothesis that chess eventually makes your screw loose
all I know is that we need to crowd fund Danya a better gaming setup.
There's already been a video of Danya reacting to Hikaru reacting to this video, so you're a bit behind the reaction curve. Extend the chain!
Not sure why anyone would take offense at you calling out a previous world champion. Doesn't mean he's not a see you next Tuesday in other aspects of his personality.
Kramik is playing 4d chess. We must keep up
I was originally skeptic but the more I look into this, the more it seems that Daniel indeed is a cheater.
I think it would be wise to start an official investigation and temporarily ban Daniel from money tournaments while its going on.
I don't know why nobody is demanding that kramnik use 4 cameras too
I think Kramnik is running an extortion operation.
"Huge commentary from Hansen" (sarcastically)
Time for Danya to sue for defamation of character and slander
i love eric reacts.
The sooner we stop giving Kramnik attention the sooner we can move forward as a community.
anyone remember those two matches in 2007 and 2008 where anand cheated against kramnik?
Since Kramnik was suspended for using another persons account will Danya also be suspended?
We need the Eric Hansen review of clash of blames ( there's literally none out there , ez money)
Danya should tell Kramnik to go take another bathroom break and leave it at that.
Data analysis should easily catch most people. They got Petrosian
Now address the new interview on Levitov's chess!
Actually he's staking his own reputation in order to call out cheaters. No one would dare do this. The truth is there are a lot of top GMs who may be sus but no one is willing to call them out.
I mean look at the hans vs magnus situation. Hans was sussed by many gms but no one voiced it out
Sad to see Vladimir getting under Danya's skin like this. Ironically, all these streamers making videos criticizing kramnik's accusations are exactly what give him a big platform and allow him to take up everyones headspace.
