I ended up making a few RCA cables when I accidentally cut straight through my recording setup (I lost a lot of good cables that day) and the setup is basically the same. Good tutorial!

    Hello Doctor,
I watched a video of a guy who made a cable when he built a dayton 15 Ultimax sub and using a crown amp. but he didn't mention how he made the cable. He mentioned that instead of connecting the positive and negative terminal at the sub, he instead did it at the connector. I wasn't sure how he did this if all 3 pins are used or if he simply joined two of the wires and had a positive and negative. connector at sub is a neutrik 4-pole connector and quick connect is Neutrix NL4FX Thank you.

Please, PLEASE you're my last hope.
Can you help me to understand how you got the last part of the connector on top of the heat shrink sleeve ?
I did everything I could for my xlr and jack cables, and the one bit stopping me for the finished product is the heat shrink tube.
If only I could get it past it, my cables would look like a vovox sonorus protect jack cable.
But I just CAN'T. When I use a heat srink tube wiuthout glue, it just slips and makes a mess, and when I use one with glue it's too big for the neutrik connector. IN BOTH CASES I can't get the connector over it.
    PLEASE, HELP ME.

Look, Kester 282 is an RMA fluxed wire solder in pure eutectic Sn63 or in a 2% silver pure eutectic Sn62. Thing is this is the best solder of all the formulations as far as tin/lead solders are concerned. It consistently produces the highest quality, highest reliability joints of any other solder of either type tin/lead or ROHS compliant solder. When the makers come up with an ROHS solder that consistently yields the same or better results, I’ll buy it. So far, I have yet to see one that can beat the Kester 282 RMA Sn62 or Sn63 or it’s equivalents by other manufacturers. The best doesn’t have to make excuses! You can try them for yourself. The proof is in the consistent high quality and high reliability of performance time after time! 282 is used in critical circuitry where unquestionable performance is mandated! Military and civilian contractors use this in circuitry critical to defense, research and life savings! When you have something of great importance where human life and property are at risk or at stake, or failure is to be avoided at all costs, this is your lead pipe solution! The discipline this is used in is DOD STD 2000-1. It is likely circuits will be subjected to thermal inversion, g forces and mechanical stresses. Failure under these conditions are not such that failure is tolerated. Such are not easily passed tests of endurance. If your products can handle these extremes and thrive, that is a potent solution to success in any reasonable environment! If you cannot yield this level of quality, your products will not yield the reliability to receive a reputation as reliable! Every company wants it’s products to yield that extra special level that yields a high desire and loyal following of it’s customer base! If what is offered is incapable of yielding the desired result, then it is up to those who must use this option to press for a formulation or find a manufacturer who can yield the desired results in an ROHS equivalent.

It is balanced. The red and blue are for signal, and the copper sheath around them is the ground. Maybe you're confused because it's a single channel cable?

I’m sure to get hate mail over this, but so far, I have yet to find an equivalent solder to Kester 282 with 2% silver in an ROHS formulation. I believe in the need, but I have yet to find an equivalent ROHS formulation for the only one I want to use. The finish sucks in all ROHS formulations I have seen and the performance of it sucks compared to it’s tin/lead competition. I’m hard pressed to use something that is clearly inferior for just the sake of being green. While I believe in the concept, until the manufacturers get me something else that I can use that yields the results that my preference yields, it isn’t happening. If you did any high end work, you would understand. I figure someone in this industry is capable of producing what I want. So far, it hasn’t happened. I am trying to stay positive and hopeful. So far, ROHS has proven wholly dissatisfactory to me! Disappointed! Nice wire rig though!😠
