Nice to see one at work. Local quarry here (Vulcan Materials) had an EX9000. Pulled it out of the quarry and it sat in a field for a while. Then, piece by piece, they dismantled it and it went away. Scrap metal is all that was left.

Good video , but bad driver .... Too far away from the face and then swinging at full reach to badly spotted trucks with a bucket 70% full while in great digging....
@Nowornever driver is just a term , and I would hate to think I could do any worse he’s missing the basics of operating a face shovel , I’ve operated face shovels and ran open pit mining operations ,
@Nowornever they wouldn’t have survived on the sites in the uk and never needed stockpiles to get high bucket fill factor and often in unblasted material

is the coal business hurting there in Canada like it is in the United States cause epa and obama has killed it here in Kentucky most coal job's are gone now
+Christopher Robinson That's all metallurgical coal for making steel it gets exported to China and Japan. It's mostly hurting from the recession in China. EPA has no reach in Canada.

Reason why it was scrapped: had been welded on so much, it wasn't worth repairing anymore.
you can thank Mr Hussein for that. but I'm pretty sure a 8000 is Hitachi's largest shovel.

Thanks for showing a the full cycle. Most mining videos show one bucket then cut. I can't tell what the average fill factors were or how many passes.
