Chthon is a fictional character, a demonic Elder God appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. His name derives from chthon, the Greek word for "earth" and "earthly", especially pertaining to earth that was not life giving soil, but dark like that of the grave or the underworld.

I've been waiting forever for someone to cover this monster. For someone who's power nearly cracked the multiverse, he gets wildly few references in comparisons to the rest of the villains.
Rob, you should start a new series named "Potential Omega Level" where the videos do just that; exploring the idea of people who could be omega level if their abilities were fully attuned

Mephisto used the power of the Darkhold to imprison the demon Darklove
Nightmare onced used the power of the Scrying Stones of Chthon
I really hope they establish Wanda’s connection to Chthon in dr strange 2
They really should, and probably will in some way as an easter egg. Imagine they are exploring realities in some way, a bunch of flashing imagery moving so fast you can barely make sense of it and in there you see the big guy himself towering over it all and Wanda freaks out and "snaps out of it" when Dr Strange intervenes.
It could also allow a subtle setup for a future storyline if they choose to explore it one day - Wanda finally losing control.
I think it would be great if Chthon is the big bad of Strange 2, who would want Wiccan's body for the Demiurge (instead of Moridun as in the comics)
Or use him on her show.

Mephisto cannot hold a candle to Chthon. I always wondered why people wanted him to show up in the MCU instead of Chthon? Just because Wanda unknowingly used fragments of his DNA to create her kids? She has way more connections to The Elder God. Wanda's using his DarkHold on the mountain where he was once banished at the end of Wanda Vision, really interesting.

Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet has become such a power scouter. Everything gets compared to him.

@@alissa6 I think so too. Its become a thing to compare everyone/everything to Thanos from the movies, but I also think Rob is just doing it as half a joke, and half to get film watchers on board. Its fine really, just something I've picked up on.

Cthon even has multiple references to being multiversal in power and there's actually a fair bit of evidence to suggest the Elder Gods in general are multiversal beings, living in the extra-dimensions outside of the universe proper and thus were themselves unaffected when the universe first splitting into the multiverse. It also helps understand how Oshtur (another Elder God who left Earth seeking enlightenment before the other Elder Gods started eating each other), can be a part of the Vishanti and somehow multiversal with their only being one of them in all the multiverse.

I mean hell, the Book of the Vishanti, the most powerful magical tome wielded by any Sorcerer Supreme, was created by the Vishanti as a direct counter to the Darkhold and it took the combined might and knowledge of all of them to create it - and the Darkhold, if ever used to it's full potential, is still more powerful than the Book of the Vishanti. Then we look at Set and he was able to place aversion of his Serpent Crown in every reality that were actually all part of the same artifact and would fuse together into he original if they were all united.

Cthon has also been called the shadow that creeps behind the throne of heaven and this idea was potentially reinforced when it was stated that Scarlet Witch's "Chaos Wave" swept through the entire multiverse and beyond, and was in danger of reaching heaven itself. And that was Wanda - who is but a fraction of Cthon. Cthon may even be the first Great Evil for whom there is a Throne reserved in the darkest pits of Hell that all of the other various demons, Death Gods and Hell Lords alike are terrified to approach too closely, let alone sit on. I've actually researched this theory:
"Does the Throne of all Hell belong to anyone and if so, who does it belong to?"
And honestly, Cthon is arguably the most likely candidate - or at least, he's the best we have so far, that's not the same a being a perfect fit.

I'm torn about seeing Cthone in the MCU
On one hand it's great because he's a big part of Scarlett Witch's mithos. However, it's also extremely probable that Marvel will severely nerf him, almost to the point where he's not even the same character smh I guess we'll just have to wait and see

And Wanda Maximoff just freaking absorbs his powers and Ch'thon himself, and imprisoned him inside of her. Killing Wanda is the only way that can set him free. But I bet he be there permanently as the Scarlet Witch is functionally immortal though.

Mythology is full of “Chtonic” deities, generally underground beings. But both Shula-Gorath and Chton were Marvel’s taking some LoveCraftian lore and artfully made it part of the Marvel Universe. Shuma- Gorath had the giant tentacles of Cthulhu that seemed just like HR Geiger. It was psychedelic. But to posit Chton could affect a galaxy 500 million years away, seems quite beyond him.
But Galactus could.

1. Chthon had the gift of foresight
2. His creations the N'Garai were the demons that the angel Lucifer fought against before his fall from grace
3. It was Chthon who whispered lies to Varuna, leader of the angel-like beings known as the Bird-Men of Akah-Ma'at which caused a civil war within the race to which the Elder Goddess Oshtur to banish them. The benevolent Bird-Men later became the beings known as the Seraphim
4. He created the Wolf-Men of Valusia and their leader was Varcolac who later mated with Echidna (a descendant of the Elder God Set) and from their union came Angerboda who became Loki's wife and mother to the Midgard Serpent, the Fenris Wolf and Hela, Goddess of Death.
5. Chthon once almost killed Doctor Strange by his mere presence alone
Cthon would get hardcore nerfed in the MCU. The Dweller in Darkness was taken out like a simple chump in the MCU Shang Chi movie.
Please give an attempt at DC top 20 most powerful characters. It would be tough but fun to watch.

I would enjoy a series focused on skilled characters. Like the opposite of Omega level. Characters like Hawkeye, Daredevil and Punisher for example are not extremely powerful but they have impressive skill and use their abilities well.

What if cthon just has spells that dormammu doesn’t know how to use and that’s why he invokes cthon? Maybe the same can be said about cthon possibly invoking dormammu for spells and powers that cthon doesn’t know how to use? Idk, I just like to think that they both could stand to benefit from each other.
Chthon chthon, one of my favorite demonic entity in the marvel universe, even Eternity is terrified of King Chthon, Chthon’s howls broke multiple dimensions, and Scarlet Witch was only able to imprisoned him, it’s almost nearly impossible to fully defeat Chthon. , The Creater of Chaos magic itself, Scarlet Witch’s powers is only a fragment of Chthon’s real power.
Actually it was stated Chthon was not The Creator of Chaos Magic, Rather a Vessel for Chaos Magic.
He was an Elder God of Dark Mystic Arts and Darkness. He rules every Mystic Arts and created many spells and beings that are now scattered in The Multiverse. He was the only being that whom Discover The Form Of Magic itself, Chaos Magic. He uses it until everyone was Corrupted because of Seth Ideas on eating their kin.
They become Demon and so powerful that his power became darker.
He created the Flickering Dimension which he can never break out because his Spell was so powerful that even he cannot break it out. Means that Chthon was Bound to Chaos Magic so Chaos Magic is not from Chthon.
It was not just Gaea who did not degenerate into a demon, but also Osthur - The Bright Lady of the Dawn and mother of Agamotto the All-Seeing.
Isn’t Billy Kaplan the Demiurge? Does that mean that Wanda gave birth to the father of one of her greatest enemies 😱 she created the creator of the creator of chaos magic which she is the nexus of🤯
Possibly. At least with everything that I've read, it isn't quite clear if Billy as Demiurge is the same Demiurge or if its two different gods that share the same name. Because Billy as Demiurge has been written in a way that sounds different and stronger than the Demiurge responsible for Chthon.

This puts scarlet witch on a whole other level. We are talking abt how chnthon’s very presence to eternity was poisoning him. When Dr. Doom has the power gain access to the life force he was on the same power scale as the beyonder who is actually suppose to be as powerful or maybe even more powerful than the living tribunal. Now wanda has control and access to that life force plus 100% of chaos magic plus she’s a nexus being plus her witch abilities. The goddess of chaos is immensely powerful now we are talking omnipotent and Nigh-Omniscient (now that she is the true dark hold she has billions of years of knowledge). She can definitely take on celestials at this point as the beyonder was able to kill celestials with ease.
I’m sorry, I don’t think so. First of all, the “Eternity” who claimed Chthon was poisoning him was only Loki’s disguise. Eternity himself is vastly more powerful than elder gods, according to the guide book Marvel published. Furthermore, beyonder’s power level has already been rewritten by the time Doom possessed the Life Force (by that time Beyonder’s power scale was retconned to be weaker than Celestials, and the abstract entities he defeated was retconned to be only their manifestations. In the new issues of , he himself claimed he is beneath Phoenix Force, and America Chavez wearing Eternity Mask could fight and hurt him as well. Eternity Mask is only made from the substance of a universal-Eternity’s M-body, nothing comparing to true form Eternity). At last, Steve Orlando, the writer of Darkhold Omega, said “Wanda absorbs Chthon and the Darkhold in the comic, and must now devote some of her power to contain him at all times. The power she gains is agency and freedom”. So I don’t think Wanda by the end of Darkhold Omega got a huge power-amp, as she must use part of her power to contain Chthon. In my opinion, Living Tribunal (true form) > Eternity (true form) > HOM Wanda > Chthon (at his prime) >= Beyonder(retconned) >> Wanda by the end of Darkhold Omega

@@VWN197 Chthon is literally known as the shadow of the one above all, the chaos wave that he created will destroy the entire omniverse and start a new one undoing everything toaa has done and created and the chaos wave is said by Roma to reach the throne of the toaa, he’s vast more powerful that eternity to be honest, he even said all the things that the scarlet witch did in HOM is nothing and is a mere fraction of his capabilities, he can blink universes out of existence and is the most powerful elder god, firstly even the scarlet witch was able to block a blow from eternity with one hand easily, and can we really trust loki that much to believe he was eternity because he can read minds in the comics and he is a trickster god. To add to that, we know marvel depower other characters to make some shine, but it only took one beyonder to one shot each and every abstract entity and all celestial and three of them killed the one above all, during the time Dr. Doom had the beyonders power that’s the power scale he felt of every single one of the beyonders powers combined and so that’s the power he was comparing the life force to, in children’s crusade we saw that the life force is the scarlet witch own power and she asked doom to give it back to her and then we found out she’s the nexus being of earth 616, regardless of trying to depower the power of the life force, when doom has it he was becoming one with the creators which is the one above all and it was driving him crazy, but regardless it shows the raw probably omnipotent potential the life force has. I agree that after Darkhold omega she didn’t gain power she actually lost power by using some to contain Chthon but even tho she lost power when she went ahead and fought Nyx she was the only one who was able to shield her teammate from the light of the house of ideas, she was shielding her and her teammates from the force of all creation and all that would be created, every plot, every character and every comics ever to exist and that will ever exist this bring the powers of the one above all, this was like her holding back a blast from the creators herself and that alone is a whole other level of power, that’s her holding back the meta-narrative force of all comic stories ever written and that alone is way outversal. So based on that I cannot agree with the power scaling and I think a lot of people won’t because she’s performed feats that are crazy and based on twitter they actually plan on making the scarlet witch connected to the house of ideas and that’s how I think the life force is her own power but it isn’t placed into comics yet so let’s see what happens.

Yeah The Elder God's of Earth in Marvel comics, such as Cthon, are definitely under the "Lovecraft Lite" trope. Where Writer's introduce Lovecraftian Pastiche Homages into their work and have them be an antagonist for your hero to defeat.

This is the only reason I'll be ok with them making Wanda a villain in the MCU again, is if Chthon or Shuma Gorath are controlling/manipulating her
and why is that? Wanda's always been a morally ambiguous character and in the gray zone. Pick up a comic, not everyone and everything has to be sunshine and flower petals and all righteous heroes who can do no wrong coming in to save the day
