  • Join me as I take out the superb mobile radio from Anytone out on the road to do some long range testing along with a live chat with fellow ham G0LDB back near my home QTH.
    Dont miss Santas little helper watch right until the end :-)
    Check the usual Chinese Market Place sites for the best deals, I picked this up for £80 delivered, prices do fluctuate though so maybe check out the sites in the new year if you are interested, I can certainly recommend this radio.
    Keep an eye out for Episode 3 xmas special number 4.

    You ought to do a review of the TYT TH-UV8000D. It's supposed to be a 10W HT, and it actually is 10W, right on the button. It had a low setting that is pretty much 6.0W, but nothing lower. It also has a cross band repeater that works great. It comes with two antennas - a whip and a standard that actually works quite well, surprisingly. The HT is like the shape of a football; however, it fits the hand (amazingly).

    11.8 volts seems pretty low, the recommended power supply is like 13.8v

    It's seems to be a decent radio for $125.00 U.S. however when installed in my mobile and driving in a large city it receives a lot of intermod and interference that makes it hard to squelch out. The radio could use better filtering, my Kenwood V71A doesn't have that problem however it does cost 3 times more then the Anytone. Once leaving the city and driving in the suburbs there's no issues at all or even at home as a fixed station. Excellent video, thanks.....

    What kind of cigarette adapter is that? Do you have specifics or a link? I appreciate the videos on this radio and I am considering it for my truck. Right now I have a Yaesu FT-60 and the 5 watt limit is a pain sometimes. What kind of antenna attachment does this take? I have the Yaesu attached to a Diamond MR77SMA mag mount and it is difficult to tell from the video if what I have will work. Thanks!

    Great Testing! But I think your SDR bandwidth is too high - try a setting of 25,000 or 12,500 in the top left panel.
    Edit: While I'm here, hit the settings/cog icon next to the volume adjustment, and make sure RTL AGC and TUNER AGC are ticked.

    How did you do the elevation checking thru google maps?

    • @knoxieman
      @knoxieman  3 роки тому +3

      That's the desktop version of Google earth, you draw a path from a to b, right click on the path and select elevation profile, you can then slide the slider up and down and a pointer appears on the map at the point on the profile, very useful feature that is.

    Hello i just want to ask how many kilometers if your in mountainous place. Like here in mindanao Philippines.

    • @knoxieman
      @knoxieman  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, such a tricky question to answer, this radio will do 35 watts, so line of sight 100km is easily achievable that could drop to 5 miles in urban area and maybe 10 miles in a mountain area it's very hard to say, generally longer wavelength would work better in a mountain area, 4m radios.

    Hi I have one of these radios and it has no DTMF ? Is this the same as yours ?

    • @knoxieman
      @knoxieman  3 роки тому

      Yes it supports the encoding of tones using DTMF but they have to be pre programmed you can't just key up and push the buttons like other radios, I guess not many folks use that feature on a mobile radio so they didn't enable it.

    • @kozzae44
