- Two part video where we look at this amazing super heavy hard hitting walkie talkie from Baofeng, i get it on the bench and put it on the test gear to see if this budget beast of a radio really does live up to the hype!
Part-1 of a two part video. - Наука та технологія
Your right Paul! To program the channels using Chirp you need to select UV-17 Pro as the radio or it will throw up and error. I Look forward to your next edition 👍
It's a really really beautiful radio I am totally impressed I have to buy one remind me of the older style radios back in the day 😄
I actually purchased one of these myself a few days ago and was wondering if i did the right thing, after watching your initial test hopefully i made the right decision. The antenna reminds me of a 5G Cell tower and a 80s gooseneck lamp 😂. Thanks for sharing Paul
I'l guess we can't Mod this radio like the Quansheng radios, but it looks great and they didn't lie about the power output as you showed us. My Quansheng can now also transmit SSTV and APRS, and this radio is is a miracle.
Great review! I think I'm going to order another one. Thank you.
Brilliant presentation.
Very nice I will wait for the distance check
Thanks for the video, I don’t think I’ll be adding one to my collection of radios but all the same a great looking radio. Just one thing, the Quansheng screen you mentioned being of a Matt finish, I thought that but it does have a film on it and you really have to pick at the corner and the film will come off.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Nice radio thank you
Ap2ars
It looks fantastic. I've got to get one. Would make a great emergency radio.I noticed it's 1.25m rather than 4m, but looks like it could receive some 4m. I was waiting for you to spot the 10W sticker.

Wow! A 10 watter that actually does 10 Watts.......must be a first for Baofeng! Mind you, you could use it as a club.....give someone a clout round the earhole with that and they wouldn't be getting up anytime soon! 😲😲😲😁😜. Great review! 😎
The "old" UV 13 Pro V2 does 10W also.
Excellent video, Thank you!!! Could you please share with us following: Firmware and Hardware version please? Also, if you could key number8 while powering up radio to see what what Radio index is and what chip is inside? It usually shows three line of information?? Many thanks

There is still a screen protector on the Quansheng’s display. You can hardly get it off but trust me there is one 😊
Man, that is one serious looking Boo-Foo, I kinda want one...
Please can you put a link into the comments to the website you purchased this from in china as £30 is a bargain price 👍 many thanks 😊
The only problem mine has is I can’t charge it around any radio I’m using. Puts out a weird interference. It’s a monster but one to have if you collect these.
Great video 👏🏼 what is your favorite 10-watt radio?
Do they all provide frequency hopping?
that thing looks good! and here i cant find stuff for my v6
The menu interface is just like the motorola gp338 😅 can u do a review on abree radio and motorola too?
what is the difference between 5w and 10w output? One S unit? Half and S unit?
how readable id the color screen in normsl daylight? I have a Wouxun HT with color screen that is totally useless outdoors in daylight.
I had mine for a month. So far it's good. Battery life lasts for a week.
Interesting - I’m going to grab one of these for review. I feel like being rather cruel to this! 😂
I super glued a thin peice of wire to the bottom so it will stand up to mine and I use the baofeng tactical antenna it's a tall straight rubber antenna btw youhave to add solder to rhe antenna needle connector so it contacts deeper into the antenna . Your need a steady hand , soldering iron , dlux andn6o40 solder . Cause the antenna connection dose not seat in all th eeay into the antenna on all baofengs.
I was curious what it would put out on 220. Did you test 220 off camera?
So where do I get a drop in charger? The battery and radio are made for it.
Hello what site did you use PLEASE to buy the radio i tried Ali Express for some reason they can not post to the UK thanks 2E0EVP
There are two versions. The UV-25 and the UV-25 Pro Max. The second on has a scramble option in the menu and airband. Inside this bendable antenna is a very thin antenna like the Signal stick.
Hi, Looks like your Quansheng still has the second foil on it. There is an oversized one that everybody sees then one that covers the screen only. Have a go at a corner.
could we get an update on how the meshtastic solar powered node is getting on please, we have had a few days bad weather I just wonder how it's holding up love your videos
Yup that video is on its way
Thanks for the video, mate. Are you going to test harmonics in Part II?
How did you buy? Link? I looked on Amazon and do not see. Help?
Can it be used for cb radio ?
It says 10 watts power output. But as per swr meter, it kicked to 16w
Where is the best place to buy one of these? US based and want to make sure im not overpaying
WHERE DID YOU GET IT FROM ????
Baofeng radios have a tendency to have low audio quality so I'd be curious to know if it has good, loud transmit audio or not. Other than that, I really like it. It would make a good emergency radio.
Good video
Won't ship to the UK for some reason- anyone know why?
I subscribe to your channel tell me is the grill where the speaker is is that made of metal or plastic
I have various Baofeng radios. This new one reminds me very much of my Radtel RT-470L although it's only 5w.
I wish you wouldn't make these videos as I'm going to have to add one to the collection 😂
Edit: £55 cheapest on fleebay 😳
Kkkkk😂🤣
I need to see one of those batteries open . One of my first baofeng's i dropped the mic so after that drop something was ratteling inside i opened it upp and low and behold they glued in a piece of rusty iron to give it weight lmfao .
É possivel usar o carregador de 2A nesta bateria?
O carregador original é de 1Amp. Demora demais pra carregar essa bateria.
The screen seems small. It comes in a tin, thats cool, do you have video of the tin, id accept a regular box for a radio. Im guessing it comes in a tin because it weighs 30 pounds.
Those in the know, know that it is pronounced, "boof-wang".
Does it have a hand dandy wrist strap?
I like looks of it
would this be good to use when hiking to stay in contact with another one?.
yeah wihin a 5 mile radious depending on surroundings
I have a baofeng 888s and the battery is bad i had to epoxy a powerbank at the back just to make it endure..but it looks alien but could do the work 😂
Do you have a link where you bought yours from?
aliexpress
Looks like the military grade version Baofeng.
OR ... the 1990s version HT. 😂
why isnt baofang selling these on there official web site?
Nice radio for a Baofeng but one thing Do you really want 10 Watts radiating next to ur head ??
The only thing I dislike about this and the 152 style radio baofang has is this 2 pin earplug adapter style I would much rather have the uv5r/uv9r style connector that screws in
Has anyone connected this to a VNA to check its output? Before everyone goes gaga over it, first make sure this isn't just another typical Baofeng noise generator.
I hope no one complains about part 90-95 .
Can you show us and make a contact let us hear what it sounds like
How did you get this for 30squids iv just looked and the best iv found is 50 to 95
Prices have gone up since the video went out but they are there for sub 40 on Ali Express
@@knoxieman I bought my UV-25 in February for ~25€ incl. Shipping on Ali Express. Was a kind of "Rollout"-Offer.
$54 on ebay here in the states. Very intriguing. Would be very good for the military LARPers that have the radio pouches for the military radios that size by Harris.
well, Ukrainians are using 'fengs on battlefield, i'd say its far better than just for LARPers ;). i keep my 82UV on Enduro bike, and its still working just fine.
why do all these radio's have PTT-ID encode, but none seem to have decode so you can read it
So the fcc can read the ID for reporting.
Looks like the screens thatyou probably won't be able to see the screen outside in the sunlight 😏
I use the waterproof version.
One moment please 😂😂😂😂
Can you get air band ?
Yes
How much of a "beast" can it be, when it appears it can't get wet? The page in the instructions you showed literally state "Keep the radio dry. Rainwater or damp will corrode electronic circuits." I feel like you need to test that out next.
Just wish the silver speaker grill wasnt just fake plastic with fake screws!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🇧🇷
baofeng hep kasa değiştiriyor içsel yazılımsal çok bi değişim yapmadıgından tercih edilmiyor artık.kendilerini biraz quansheng gibi geliştirmeliler.şuan quansheng uvk5 modeline çok ilgi var
Naa.. I'm not that impressed. Although Baofeng released some new radios, with the new chipset & colour screen recently. My favourite by far, is the BF-5RH/UV-5RH It's well worth a look, and comes complete with Docking station and has USB battery charging. Also the familiar Orange VFO/MR & Blue A/B buttons. which this one appears to lack. A quick frequency sniffer function is also available on the front panel. An interesting review none the less.
Does this require a lic? Looking for easy two way for my wife and I
lol
10w isn’t that safe for long exposure for something you hold in your hand.
It's fine
The silver makes it quite tacky.
FREQUENCY HOPPING???
never turn on a radio without the antenna
Why it does no damage
It loads the internal circuit unnecessarily.
Without an antenna, transmitting at 10 watts for an extended period of time will most likely damage the internal circuit because the power has nowhere to go.
@@Model3GenerativeANdroid pretty much what i was going to say
Not a walkie-talkie .. Its a ham radio
it is not a antenna it is called a gooseneck (your antenna attaches to it)
Nope it's an antenna
Bwk benda ni kat Thailand entah le apa jadi..
Thanks for telling us the Model and Link where to purchase.....NOT!
Ali express, if I post a link the price goes up
I don't care how much they cost. I'm not buying another Baofeng until they properly filter their output. They should also remove the stupid LED "flashlight" as well.
It’s very bright
@@daniellarsonintervew7413 I don't care if it outshines the sun. Nothing says cheap Chinese garbage like a free flashlight built into your non-flashlight product. Oh, and the RF filtering.
So you also think a phone "led flashlight" is useless?
@@wewya. If I already have one on my phone, I don't need a weaker one on my garbage chinese HT. It might be different if it was already a quality radio that did everything right, and the "extra light" was the gilded lily, but that's not the case.
@@acf2802 it's much stronger than the one on modern iPhones. WAIT I've got your answer prewritten "I don't care if it outshines the sun" shut up goofy man
My tyt uv98 way more superior.. thats have wonderfull RX capability test on satellite repeater and real 10watt V/U output and cheaper
Lol - not even digital. What a putz.
LOL!! It's locked down to ham frequencies?? What a POS - why else would anyone buy a POS like that?? LOL!!!
Nope, you can run different firmware as well
@@knoxieman well, that's some redemption. I hate how proper "HAM" radios are locked down. You get some high-quality japanese radio that's intentionally hamstrung. nuts.
SAD REVIEW.
somehow in this timeline hoards of clueless get excited about this complete garbage of an ht.
the rf performance on receive and transmit is beyond pathetic but somehow that has stopped mattering altogether.
this is a peculiar situation indeed.
Can't get custom firmware for this. Meh. No airband.
Quansheng does way more frequencies for less, doesn't have the same crazy build look.
But in 2024 if you can't do custom firmware on your cheap radio, it's as good as trash
Dude. Dispense with all the talking. No one cares that its a brick. 🤦♂️
If you bend that goosneck 90 degrees are you then Horizontal or verticalli polarized with your signal or does that just make it an omnidirectional an antenna lmfao this is getting confusing hahahahaha.
OIY MATE!! You have a 3 band radio. People who have 220 mhz also have an interest. Just because the uk does not have it does not mean you can't test it on a dummy load, because many 3 band radios for some reason have lower output on 220 PLEASE PLEASE you blokes test the radios for everyone NOT just the Brit Isles RIGHT!!
