Thanks. You were especially clear and to the point. I am shocked at how dirty my filter was. I will clean it much more often. I hope that I did not damage my dyson. I really like it.
I’ve had dysons from DC01. To dry the filters in summer just pop them outside in the sunshine all day. Leave it off the machine for 24h. During winter, sit it ontop of the radiator to dry for 24h
Can’t believe that was the only filter. Mine even looked clean but alas I lost suction. I did exactly as you said so let’s see if it works in a few days! I will let dry for a few days then reinstall. Thanks!!!
After five years of experiences with Dyson filters I can not recommend washing the hepa filter with water because if you have a water with a high level of calcium in your region the calcium will clog the hepa filter over time and even when the filter is dry and the water gone. You can always wash and clean the soft filter but not the hepa one.
Yr video is helpful. I bought my dyson on line. It came without any instruction manual. I find some video of opening the dust canister thru another video. I am 77 years old and not tech saavy. A proper manual book wld be helpful fr people like me. I love yr dyson as it cleans very well. But the advertisemnt said, it has running time of 60 minutes. However, mine goes dead after 20 minutes. I wish to know all abt this dyson V12 total clean , thru reading the manual and how best to use yr machine. Pls help.
You might be running in boost mode, that'll kill the battery in about 20 mins. Try Eco or medium, press the button on top while it's on to cycle through. You've probably worked it out by now though.
We cleaned the V12 Slime Line filter as shown and dry it over 24h. After that it looks clean but after one room or a very short time the same failure come again. We have it know since January this year and cleaned the filter up to 20 times. It’s a normal flat without pet’s! Something must be wrong with this model. Our neighbors have V15 and V11 (over a year) and two cats but didn’t have to clean the filter yet.
if you have a water with a high level of calcium in your region the calcium will clog the hepa filter over time. Try to wash the filter with a water and vinegar mixture, it will wash out the calcium.
Have you resolved the problem with the filter? I have the same problem with my v12 Only, the filter does not get dirty, the dust doesn”t get to the filter, Same, I wash a clean filter and get same message after 5-10 min cleaning AfterI I remove the dust bin for cleaning, with just gentle tap on the vacuum cleaner lots of dust coming out of it. Must be some blockage or maybe design problem
Get going again in 15 minutes. After washing it, I ran over to my large shop vac and pulled a bunch of air thru it to dry it off quickly. Interestingly I would've thunk that it would take 3 minutes tops. It was a good 15 minutes of rotating and manipulating the airflow to get it truly dry. Also tricky for me was not letting the shop vac get too much pressure such that it could tear the filter. Not sure if that could happen, but better careful than sorry. Pinch the fabric between two fingers to verify no moisture is present.
Hi! I waited 48 hours and it was dry, but when I ran the vacuum, water shot out the sides so I took it apart again. Why aren't the pleats 100% dry? Is there a way to take it apart?
When was a failing motor the reason for any product the reason it stopped working these days? So why are you even bothering with a filter on your Dyson?
i have filtered main tool filter with a tiny stick and please be sure cleaning only this outside filter ""HEPA filter" is not enough. Please clean inside .. if you shake it a bit, you will understand what i am talking ..
Glad I found this video. I pulled my filter off and woulda lost a $100 bet that I can separate the paper from the cloth portion.

You're welcome!
short, sweet, to the point. great video!
When you clean a vacuum cleaner you become a vacuum cleaner
Super helpful thank you . Plugging it with hands and shaking it really released dirt .

There are 3 filters. The perforated stainless steel mesh, the washable cloth pre filter, and the pleated HEPA filter
Easly explain and great video, thx alot! We bought our V12 a few days ago and love it!

This the purple thing in the video the hepa filter?
@@PhilippeCJR yes, the hepa filter is in that blue or purple plastic thing!
thats why I use filtered water to clean HEPA paper for final resin . ... what a stupid design
I'm glad I saw this comment before washing! We have a ton of calcium in our water. I'll be using some of the distilled I have lying around.
If that's the case use an acid/vinegar to dissolve the limescale.
What about blowing it out with compressed air?
Great video. Short and professional!
Thanks, this is very clear and informative.
thanks for the straight-on point tutorial :)
The only video that helped me ! Thanks :)

We had sent him back to Dyson and the changed the complete housing. Took 4 days at all. Now it’s running without problems anymore.

use hair dryer to blow, then later use fan keep blowing for 1 day or 2
stupid design, dyson want u to buy new one
Thank you so much!@@henryzhang6489
I cannot find a v15 fliter to purchase, will a v11 filter fit my V15 dyson?
Thanks man, big help! My little brother almost put it back in while it was wet 😬.
Oh yeah, has to be bone dry.
Thanks man. Perfect video.
Hi nice video.
Is v11 filter compatible with v12?
Ty for your help, hi from turkey
Very helpful. Thanks.
When was a failing motor the reason for any product the reason it stopped working these days? So why are you even bothering with a filter on your Dyson?
i cleaned but still gives same warning ?
Find a solution ? I need it 😅
the bottom of the filter gets worse efficiency if u clean with water

Somehow this didn’t work for me. Cleaned it really well but when re-inserted, it asked for a filter clean again, right away.
Sounds like a dirty sensor. Maybe you can look inside? Not something I have encountered before
@@unsharpen not sure. Might need to get it checked out. Thanks for the reply!
Same here, I finished cleaning and then it said need to clean the filter
Thanks, Easy Peasy!
Can I clean it with a vacuum instead of washing?
Kinda, but it won’t nearly be as effective.
Thank you!!
thank you!
I put it in the sun or over a heater vent.
Can i use detergent to wash the filter? Or just clean water only?
Clean water is all you need
@@unsharpen ok tq. Going to buy v12 soon
Can u use soap to clean it
No. There is no need
Awesome 👌
i have to do it every single time.
Use a hair dryer to dry it out
Should work. Dyson recommends against it but your call!
Is this a HEPA filter?
Depends on the vacuum. The v15 has a hepa filter but not all them do
not really, only the paper one that u cannot take out is HEPA
My V12 filter needs cleaning 2 or 3 times a week. Something wrong there!
Similar with my v12. The channel in the Motor collects dust and clogs more so than my other vacs.
put a 1st layer face mask before the engine, so less cleaning
Your filter has mold inside the purple clear plastic.
i am trying to take out that HEPA filter, very difficult , rubbish design,
create another plastic as need to buy whole pc
My old Dyson never was this much trouble. I had it for 6 years, never had an airflow problem and never had to be washing filters. Ridiculous.
4 minutes to say wash under running water and dry.
Thanks!
