I love Lagat's face when hugging webb. Its the look of "Calm the F**k down Webb you beat me after i ran the 5k & plus you'll probably suck at the world championships anyway"
After the NCAA Championships earlier this month, I was thinking that Leo Manzano needs to move up to 5000. But now its clear that he can run with the best.
@kungfusoccer77 It's because the World Championship was being held in Osaka Japan that year, other athletes were given Japanese flags as well. Still funny though hehe
he ran a sweet debut 10k...i dunno, i think he has good range. ofc, i guess if you're talking world class maybe he doesn't...but i still think he'd be sweet at a whole host of distances if he trained for them. we saw him run that 1:45 5 days before he pulled out that 3:30, so he can come down at least. but yea, he's optimally a miler...perfect high speed/strength mix. which milers have better kicks than him? his speed is sick.
yea, el guerrouj is sick. but a kick to me is the last 150, like a strideout - pretty much top end speed. the last 300 meters is more strength in my book. and in the last 150 i still think alan webb is pretty damn formidable relative to his peers.
Alan Webb is honestly one of the most muscular endurance runners ive ever seen, shows in his sprint finish!

Notice how Manzano just latches on to that surge Webb made in the last 50m.
Thank you, just thank you

i saw this on tv today. good stuff. lagat might have won had he not won the 5000 meters the day before. domination either way
how true this is four years later. great foresight!
Webb's kick is so inspiring... what happened?
yo pensando que lagat iva ganar
y va ganando webb
el que agarro el segundo lugar es latino?
alguien sabe?
and then lagat goes on to win the 1500m in Osaka and Webb goes downnnnnn...
i totally agreed he was a junior at texas
As a man reading this in August 2012, I must say you are absolutely right
@kdrast03 i'm not sure, but certainly a good question
is it better to run with nothing under the shorts?
Crazy to see lagat place 3rd at the US championships then win the world championship a couple months later
That last 50 was so fast! looks like he could have run another lap.
kinda cool that the three guys wearing black and red milers were the ones to make it...

Webb's strategy was good even though he front ran some
It's much harder on the kick to be the hunted, It seems to me to be easier to be the hunter
Chris Lukezic probably a billionaire now.
I know right? Webb was like half-bald in the Olympic 1500! Props to VA distance running.
I thought its Kobe 0:48 LOL
mazano is like 5'4 - 5'5...lagat is 5'7
Leo Manzano disrupted the narrative.
did you see the annoying lady after the finish? @ 5:20 "Alan, Alan. Grab these, grab these." geez give him a break
legat is still da best
haha
thats funny ey
Commenting is horrid
