- In today's video I teach you how to pro hop.

The pro hop can be broken down in a few short sentences. The first thing you must keep in mind that the timing of your last dribble is very important in order to be able to cover the most ground possible. You want to slam the ball and jump off the opposite foot at the same time. Something that's not covered in the video is that it's good to gather as well so that you can really change directions.
Once you're in the air make sure to rip the ball over high and turn your shoulders to shield the ball away from the defender. Finally, the last part of the pro hop is to land with your feet at the same time. If you do that correctly you won't get called for a travel and you now can pivot with either foot.
I hope you enjoyed the video today and if you did please go to my channel and check it out as I have a ton of other basketball drills, basketball moves, and even complete basketball workouts on there.
Thanks for watching and have a great day.

Your welcome and congrats.
I was recommended by one of my friends on facebook to watch out your video. Great job bro... looking for more from yours. However good luck with your channel...
Really helped thanks 👌🏽
Great vid Augie
Thanks
Hi, I don't think you're allowed to pivot after the pro hop (at least in FIBA) :
"Art. 2. A player who catches the ball while moving or dribbling may stop and establish a pivot foot as follows:
a. When both feet are off the playing court and the player lands:
1. Simultaneously on both feet, either may be the pivot foot;
2. On one foot followed by the other, the first foot to touch shall be the pivot foot;
3. On one foot, the player may jump off that foot and simultaneously land on both; neither foot can be the pivot foot."
Anyway, great channel with good videos and usefull tips, thanks !
great video
thnx
I would like to have a video on the multiple different finishes in basketball !!!
Go check out my channel. I have a ton of different videos on finishing.
Great tip about landing with both feet and being able to pivot with either one. It adds another dimension to how you can finish. I recently started a basketball tips channel and I would appreciate any feedback y'all might have.
Ok I'll check it out. Thanks for watching.
Thanks!
Thx
If start the pro hop dribbling with the right hand, do you have to finish with the left? I notice you do that.
Is it legal to jump of like a prohop but land with a 1-2 (the first being the opposite foot of the jumping-off foot) ?
3:17 What if you move your left foot instead? Then your right foot is the gathering step (before you catch the ball) and then you have 2 more steps to go. Would that be legal?
I think 3:43 is travel. After jump stop, left foot lifts off the ground and come back to the ground without ball release. Other pro hop examples are good.
eugenesiu naah I think pro hop means either can be a pivot foot so it not a travel
It’s a fucking hop step
I actually slowed it down and it’s not a travel it looked like his hand touched the ball after he hopped
You will get called a travel if you jump and land on the same foot, so is it possible if you do a 2 step pro hop but instead you will jump on that foot and land on a different foot?
Good video. Thanks.
I see some players in pick-up game driving to the hoop, pick up their dribble, take their two steps, and then jump hop. I called travel, and they got mad.
Did I not make the correct call?
Not a travel its a jump stop
nice!
thnx
Augie can i pro hop and pivot out of either feet?
hey augie...can I ask you a question? since you mentioned it is a violation if you take off and land on the same leg, is it a travel if you take off and land on a different leg in that same manner?
No
I teach kids that the outside dribble before the pick up needs to be simultaneous with the inside foot step into the hop.
what is cover more ground?
After you land can you pivot or no?
Can you dunk? Is a question I get pretty often. My answer, yes, but it's nothing special, lol...Can you dunk? #WeDedicated #CantStopWontStop #Dreamchasin
just saying jessie (snake) vs augie 1 on 1 would be a great video
+Chosen Troll lol Auggie was a pro in Europe bro
I would be down with that.
+Baller Boot Camp can't wait
Baller Boot Camp I wish I can dunk😭. Anyway I love using the pro hop so much😃🏀🔥
is mi fav move to finish
Nice
Thank you so much this helped a lot, im so ready to cook people
03:48 is a travel. Broke i you’re own rule!
Is it ok to jump of 2 foot?
Is it a travel if you take two steps after instead of landing on a hop?
Yep.
So your saying the only way reason this is not a travel because of the height of the jump?
U should check out Jump Science, anyways may u pls make a vid on play Pro Basketball??
Ok thanks. What about playing pro basketball?
Baller Boot Camp Like the process on becoming a pro Basketball player (Overseas, NBA, etc
Baller Boot Camp And yeah, Jump Science is the best program on developing athleticism, it uses real science. Here jump-science.com
like your going to shoot. but instead if you land without the ball leaving your hands it is also considered traveling
Looks like Augie improved his vertical jump
I wish :)
Baller Boot Camp you jammed that ball pretty hard. The backboard was shaking.
13
So you can take 1 step with dribble picked up before jumping as long as you land with both feet simultaneously?
Or do you have to gather possession of the ball while in the air?
@@tshull14 drible hard cuz the rebound of the ball will go up and that gonna help you.
but will it be called jumps when you do the pro hop cause I once did it and was called for a violation of jumps by the ref ...... + Augiejohnson
Yea, bad refs could call you on it, but technically it's not a travel.
I think in FIBA basketball you are allowed to jump off one foot and land on that foot again before make one more step and finish at the rim. Am i right?
Yeah I think you're right. In the NBA they don't allow it.
and one more thing after Pro hop, am i allowed to make one more step?
It’s a hop step you hop basically jump and you tell into a layup
At full speed you traveled on one drive. Failed to mention once you hop you need to go off two feet and give up the option to have a pivot.
This video is 7 years old….and he literally explained how not to travel and explained the pivot which you’re wrong about.
Is it a travel if you take 2 steps after the jump but instead of a yugo step (jump and land on the same foot) you land on the other foot instead of the same foot?
3:30
0:56
03:43
This is actually really interesting because once you take 2 normal steps, you cannot pivot. Chances are, it would be too awkward to do anything besides go up into a layup or immediately pass them ball.
CJ Zanders both feet simultaneously is counted as 1 step!
The pro hop won't be consider a travel?
Nope
Yes. You can't jump and come back down the ball in your hands. He is walking
what is pro hop
The move i just explained in the video.
How to Alley Oop Perfectly
what it means "Pro" hop. Why not just "Hop" or "long hop".
you cannot pivot after a pro hop.
thats not derrick rose does. :/ i thought its like derrick rose hop step.
A lot of players use this.
Baller Boot Camp no,hop step use of most player is to create contact, not to create space from the defender. Because that hopstep you teach is not so helpful, especially for the small player. Im sorry coach i respect your tutorial,i hope you teach us the right hop step.
I can yammmm. As in make dinner :/
lol
It is up and down. He is traveling
I can't dunk 😭😭😭
Thats ok. Keep working and someday you will
So if you pro hop much farther, refs can call a travel? Never heard that.
No if you jump high. I mean, it's still not technically a travel, but you have to be careful because all refs are different.
wtf you can dunk?
Yep, but nothing special, lol
you can take one step before doing a jumpstop. this is bad advice
first
This guy can barely dunk
