If we look back at the 2020 season, having bruising Bigs around A D are proven effective ways to unlock his potential and 3 point shooting ability because it allows him to be able to roam the paint and the perimeter so that he can comfortably shoot at an effective rate. When did people forget that A.D can and will do much better when he doesn't have to be at the center position and carry the team like he has had to do 95% of the time that he's been in L.A? He himself has stated many times that he would rather play the 4 so that he can have some freedom to shoot around the outside of the paint and outside the 3 point line? Usually I agree with your assessments but this time you are completely incorrect and it seems like you have forgotten certain things and/or are basing your opinions here solely on percent numbers during seasons when there were things going on which caused him to change his game to fit the situation and/or he was injured because he was having to do more than he should have had to for his size, abilities and playing style. Sorry J but you are incorrect here in this clip and in your replies as well and It makes me think that you posted this for click bait or something like that. Also having true bruiser Bigs around A.D is completely different than having skinny, tall dudes that couldn't hold back bigger centers, or anyone else for that matter even if their lives depended on it! Cook has shot like crap and Hayes couldn't shoot a 3 even if it were relocated to the foul line and neither could protect the rim even if they were sitting in the hoop blocking the opening! We all know that the league has moved on to a more outside,3 point shooting offensive game for the past season or so and whether you agree or not bringing in another true big will give A.D the ability to move around the half court while giving the Lakers the ability to follow that model. It actually will only help and it in fact opens up the ability for them to follow suit!
I agree with this brother, the lakers lineup during the bubble is really effective. Specially for davis playing that pf position. Lakers need that big body bruiser if they wanna get past the western conference
JSM has provided actual numbers and examples for his reasoning while your take is based entirely off emotion and false information. AD played more at center than he did PF during that season and yet you're acting like he played there 100% of the time and that "unlocked him". If that were true then the following season in 20-21 should have "unlocked him" even more. Meanwhile, he had the worst season of his prime on both ends of the court. Fans like you are stuck in the past of the "2020 team", favoring 90s basketball with 2 bigs, and remembering that 19-20 season incorrectly. If you "understand that the league has moved on to more 3pt shooting", then why would you be in favor of moving a 24% 3pt shooter over the past half decade to PF to pair him with a non 3pt shooting big? Your argument is so biased in favor of your love for two big lineups rather than actual stats. Yet you're somehow right and he's 100% wrong? Some Laker fans are truly hilarious.
AD lose the ability to shoot 3 was one of the biggest problem not only affect our offense but also hurt a lot on defense cause if he can’t shoot he gotta play at center but we all knew that he need to play pf at least 20mins in one game
This is absolutely FAX 💯💯💯 ... LBJ has NEVER won without a stretch big: C Bosh 🏆🏆, K Love 🏆, 2020 Davis 🏆 (when he was hitting the 3), this is why I'd prefer Wendell Carter Jr who shot 37% 3pt last year. Walker Kessler is still a good option. I do wonder if AD lost the ability to hit the 3 because he's overworked, and lacks the fresh legs to shoot... I'd still prefer both the new center we aquire AND Davis to shoot 3s ideally.
@@dondreregis559 great point ... Lakers management forcing Davis to play center full time has been the undoing of this team, look how good AD/Bam pairing was - obviously its hard to aquire this TYPE of player (I'm not saying they could get Bam lvl) Rob not doing the Myles Turner deal was so stupid.
I wouldn’t say that for sure. He played 90% of his minutes at PF during the 20-21 (most he ever has) and had the worst statistical season and injury plagued year of his career. I think there’s a time and place for AD at the 4, but it’s not more than 50% of the time.
@@JSM24With no center that AD could trust since the bubble (?), he might naturally be focused on rim protection, etc., which for him personally might distract him from 3 pt shooting. Ffs he has said he doesn't want to play center. But, we don't yet know the effect Reddick (and Vanderbilt) will have on team chemistry..
He didn't lose his shot!!! We took him from playing 60% at center to 99% at center!! He barely gets to shoot outside the paint anymore! Put him back to pf for 20-30% of his play time which will force him to play outside and shoot more and they'll start falling again!
He played 90% of his minutes at PF during the 20-21 season and shot only 26% on 2.8 3PTA per game. AD’s shooting (or lack thereof) was why they had to start playing him more at C, not the other way around. Wish he could still shoot effectively enough to be a 3pt threat, but that’s simply not the case and it has nothing to do with him playing less at PF.
@@JSM24 it absolutely does. He doesn't have to be a sniper from 3 just decent enough. Repetition is everything and if u move him to pf 2x the amount u did last year, forcing him to play more perimeter and shoot way more mid range and deeper shots compared to only shooting in the paint with simple repetition he is obviously going to get some of his shot back whether it's 3 ball whether it's deep middies cuz he is shooting more whether it's way better or just better it will have to get better seeing as he HAS to shoot more perimeter shots and getting more shots up w lead to a better shot and him shooting even ok at 3 and getting.his mid range back on point is more than good enough to be able to make a guy like Kessler work for 15 mins a game.. if a.d didn't get hurt in 21 we most likely repeat and u just said he shot below 30% from 3 that year so he obviously doesn't have to be a sniper for us to still be great w him at pf lol.
@@CrowKage8 so u can take it both ways. If he shot 26% from 3 while playing more of in 21 then obviously him being a good 3 point shooter isn't as important as ppl act like. As well as we've seen him lose his middie more and more each year. And when u go from playing 50-50 and playing more perimeter shooting several more outside mid range shots a game, to playing 99% at center and barely ever shooting mid range shots it doesn't take a huge brain to say hm if u shoot hundreds and hundreds of less mid range shots each year then after 4 years u probably won't be as good as a shooter as before.. LMFAO. This isn't some huge point to wrap ur head around
AD is a center at this point what he needs is a SF who can guard the perimeter and shoot and then a 1 or 2 guard who can also shoot and hound the perimeter. Get a Bogi and DFS then Capella to play back up. Thats the trades. Rui Gabe Vando JHS for Bogi and Capella Then DLO for DFS
It seems like Kessler would be a good upgrade over Hayes for what the team needs, but it's tricky to make that trade work and it might cost more than it's worth.
Maybe playing at the 5 and shooting threes is too much for AD, and having a strong defensive 5 is the help he needs. In the bubble he had two strong centers. He has said he doesn't want to be a center.
Much as I would love to have Kessler, both he and AD can’t log minutes together especially if AD can’t space the floor. Trading Jax and Cam for a guy like Nick Richards just to alleviate minutes for AD is the most ideal for this team.
