      @@2carpros just finished the job a few minutes ago glad to have gotten rid of the warped rotor feel and back to smooth one more. Due to the new tire dealer torquing the Lugnuts to 200+ ft. pounds, it prematurely warped the rotors quickly.
      At any rate, I did it all myself, and they’re now torqued down to the proper 100 foot pounds.

    You did a nice job showing the simplicity of doing a brake job. However, I am surprised you didn't suspend the caliper with rope, strap, or wire in case it fell and stretched the brake hose. Also, you didn't lubricate any of the prescribed moving parts. Lastly, no fasteners were checked with a torque wrench. Anyone watching your video and doing a brake job for the first time needs to see those steps.
    Thanks for sharing!

      So what is the little lube packet used for in the pads box? Please elaborate. Thanks!

    You should really take the clips off the bracket while its removed and use a wire brush to clean the brackets where the clips go in. It really helps with the little clearance some new pads leave you. Keeps the pads sliding smoothly and helps to prevent them from hanging up. Just a tip

    Thanks so much for the video, I was hesitant about fixing/replacing my own rotors and brakes till i watched this video. Last time i replaced my brakes at a service center they charged about 500 dollars and used the cheapest parts. This time i used the best parts and did it myself and only cost about 180 dollars

    Hey, dumb question but what is the grease for? Can I do this by just jacking the car up as to change a tire? Also thanks for this video, it looks fairly straightforward.

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  7 років тому

      No dumb questions here! The grease is for the caliper slide bolts so that the caliper can slide during braking easier. And yes, you can absolutely do this by jacking it up like you were changing a tire. Thank you for watching!

      Thanks so much; I'm going to tackle this over the holiday weekend (hurray...). Do you have any advice for doing the back drum brakes on the 07? Lucky me, I get the one the year BEFORE they went to caliper brakes on the back x-(

    None of these vids say to check level in brake fluid reservoir. When pushing pistons back in you displace x amount of fluid. If u don't have room in the reservoir it will spill all over the place!!

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  Рік тому +1

      If your brake fluid is filled to the brim yeah but most aren't even close. Thanks for watching!

    Surprised you aren't using the brake pad adhesive on this brake pad repair. I always spray some on to keep the noise levels down when braking especially for ceramic pads. Other than that legit video I hope it helps people out.

    Doing a 2005 saturn ion front brake pads. The 14mm bolt came out easy, and the bottom pin is free. I took it out and lubed it. The top pin will not come out. It is hard to turn. I did free up the rubber boot and it is still hard to turn and will not come out.
    Do you have any suggestions on how to get it out. Like I said it will turn but is hard to turn and it will not go in or out? I noticed the old pads were not worn evenly the top of the brake pad was not worn as much as the bottom. Not real bad, but noticeable to the eye. How do I get the top pin out?

      How tight do the caliper bolts need to be onna 05 saturn vue?

  • @johnr7144
    @johnr7144 7 років тому

    Had a question. I did this exact same brake job yesterday with a friend. 2005 Saturn Vue. We installed new rotors and ceramic pads from OReillys. On the brake pads, does it really matter whether you put the pad with the wear indicator clip extending on one end on the inside or outside? We did not know and installed it on the outside. When I re-watched the video, the mechanic installed it on the inside. Is it important enough to take it back apart and switch them?

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  7 років тому

      I can't recommend anything that isn't the stock procedure but if the brakes are functioning properly I'd call that a win. The wear indicator may not work however, so keep an eye on the brakes because the wear indicator may not be accurate. It could sound off early, late, never or on time.

    What would make my brakes stay applied when I push my brake pedal

    • @2carpros

    Nice conditions you have there. I'm working in the cold Feb Canadian winter. Ice everywhere. Car was sliding down the driveway when I jacked it up. You should see what road salt does to a Saturn ion. Pads don't just slide on here, you have to grind to fit like yours do. lol. Thanks for the vid.
