It's crazy how in depth the video is. It might have benefited from a longer run time to avoid speed running. Yet, with a modest 15 minutes, we got a thorough analysis of the history of Israel-Palestine via the borders. (Goes to show how important geography is when learning history.)
not really, it failed to cover or show true facts, context, and just generally cover around 70% of the things he mentioned, he downplayed the 1973 yom kipur war, failed to establish multiple facts like Israeli self defense throughout the conflict and palestinian militias causing the collapse of lebanon and a civil war in jordan
bruh its not even 20 minutes, do your own research, his videos are good but very over simplified and it lacks a lot of context that makes the Israeli side look a lot worse

@GREENMASTER They did. In fact the term “Palestinian” was not generally used to refer to Arabs. Many Jews even identified as Palestinian. For example, the newspaper “The Palestine Post” was actually a Jewish newspaper.
@@animeXcaso In Islam, they define people as; 1) Muslim 2) Arab 3) Your Ethnicity. In this case, 3) would be Palestinian. This is because no one truly asked the Palestinians what they thought.
@3:40 Outstanding quality, as usual. However. In 1948, the Flag of Palestine didn't exist; it was adopted in 1964 by the PLO. I understand that you use that flag for educational purposes, as everyone is familiar with it. But, maybe, it would be more realistic to use the flag of the Arab Liberation Army?
Actually, it did exist. In the World Islamic Congress of Jerusalem, 1931, a photograph of Amin al Husseini and other delegations holding a Palestine flag with the al aqsa mosque in the middle was taken

I checked, it’s not bad. People are having simple discussions and are discussing who’s truly at fault. Seems like the Zionists / Prior leaders decided how it all became split apart. The Jewish people didn’t pick it and the people already there didn’t pick it, it was the fault of the zionists wanting to go back to their ancient homeland
@@Leyirs the Zionists were willing to accept the Peel commission and the 1947 borders, both without Jerusalem or any of the historical sites or any historical cities like Hebron, which a massacre took place in 1929 killing 67 and forcing the others to leave. I feel like the Zionist had more of a “We were fine with the original border but since we got this land after the war, we’ll keep it” mentality. Things like the nakba are not justifiable but inevitable as wars cause displacement, especially if the one who started the war loose.
Love this video, as it provides the most unbiased coverage of the conflict I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. Somethings I would’ve like to see/hear more about was the troop composition during the wars (e.g.: the 1948 war, where both sides were actually evenly matched in terms of composition). Additionally, it might be worth mentioning the role of soviet/western influence throughout the years of this conflict.
Adding on here, I would have liked to hear more about the Oslo accords, as the standing PM at that time, Yitzhak Rabin, was assassinated not even a year after its proposal by a zionist. Following his death, Netanyahu succeeded him, a man who believes that Hitler was pressured in creating the Holocaust due to the influence of some Arabs. You can imagine how well he treated the Palestinians when he was (and is still) in power.
Yes, there are many shortcomings in the video, and making the video short is a little annoying. There are many important topics that were shortened or ignored, such as the reaction of the Palestinian people after Oslo, the two Palestinian intifadas, the founding of Hamas, and the condition of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and those who remain of them in Israel. I wish I had mentioned them.
Sorry but this video was biased in its many omissions. He skipped over a lot, not just the Palestine riots of 1929 which caused the Irgun and Lehi to be formed. He also skipped over the fact that the straights of Tiran and Suez canal were closed to Israeli shipping, and the Egyptians and Syrians were amassing troops on Israel's border, when Israel's Airforce did a "pre-emptive attack"in 1967. The fact that it was the British who brought the idea to the Zionists World congress for the Balfour declaration only after the communists took over Russia because they had faulty intelligence that the communists were ran by Jews, (that was the Mensheviks who lost to the Bolsheviks who were primarily not Jewish), and they thought by offering the Jews a state it would sway communist Russia to stay allied with the UK in WW1. It was also the UK and France who masterminded and convinced Israel to join them in the "Suez Crisis" a war to get back control over the Suez canal that Egypt had nationalized from British and French private companies. "Nasser's response was the nationalization of the Suez Canal. On 26 July, in a speech in Alexandria, Nasser gave a riposte to Dulles. During his speech he deliberately pronounced the name of Ferdinand de Lesseps, the builder of the canal, a code-word for Egyptian forces to seize control of the canal and implement its nationalization.[108] He announced that the Nationalization Law had been published, that all assets of the Suez Canal Company had been frozen, and that stockholders would be paid the price of their shares according to the day's closing price on the Paris Stock Exchange.[109] That same day, Egypt closed the canal to Israeli shipping.[110] Egypt also closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping, and blockaded the Gulf of Aqaba, in contravention of the Constantinople Convention of 1888. Many argued that this was also a violation of the 1949 Armistice Agreements.[111][112]" He also stated that Israel had violated United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181, when it was the Arab armies, and Palestinian Fedayeen who attacked Israel 1st violating 181. When Israel declared independence it was only in the areas they controlled already, after they were attacked all that of course went out the window, because Israel took over the areas it had won, and Egypt and Jordan took over the areas they had won in Palestine.....181 specifically called for the creation of both a Jewish and Arab Palestinian state, however Egypt occupied Gaza, and Jordan occupied the West Bank.

You have some good stuff here, but there are a couple key things you skipped over. Before the war in 1948 between Israel as a state and it's 5 Arab Neighboring countries, those countries instructed their Arab citizens living in the territory they were about to go to war over to leave and that they would have the "right of return" once they took care of Israel. They just didn't want their civilians to be caught in the crossfire. It would be 5 against 1. Then Israel won, and that is now framed Israel as a bunch of evil colonists when that in fact was not the case. You also need to go back further than just the British mandate and ottoman empire. There is so much people need to know that simply starting there paints this situation as "where it all started" when it in fact didn't "just start' there.

2:58 "Indigenous Arab population" ??? Arabs aren't indigenous to the Levant. It's literally in their name. They are indigenous to the Arabian Peninsula. A lot of the information you are conveying is false. At 1:35 you said that Jewish immigration displaced the Arabs. This is false. The Arabs strongly opposed Jewish immigration as can be observed in the many times Jews were turned away while trying to flee the Holocaust. Furthermore, there are very well-documented land purchases by the Jews from the Ottomans in uninhabited areas that actually overlap with areas with high levels of malaria. The only time when Arabs were displaced was during Israel's war for independence in 1948 when the Arabs in Israel and the surrounding countries became combative, attempting to wipe out the Jewish State. I don't know for certain if your intention is to misinform but your video is severely lacking in historical context.
Arabs originated from southern levant and btw it doesn’t matter if you live in a place for 1400 years you become indigenous to it, people who came from Europe 70 years ago are indigenous while people who lived there for over a millennium are not? Using the term Palestinians to mean Arabs is disingenuous. The Arab people in the land did not call themselves as Palestinians, and it gives the idea that they were all in the land forever, when there was massive Arab Levantine and Muslim refugee migration in the 1900s.
You could deny Ukrainians exist by the same logic. Not really a distinct group from Russians until the 1910s-20s. Also how does the last 70 years of history not make them distinct from the other Arabs? They’ve been 2nd class citizens in their home for 70 years. Also if they aren’t distinct then what are the Palestinian Christians? Palestinians are all pretty directly descended from the Israelites and canaanites. How aren’t they indigenous and distinct? If speaking the same language as other people makes you the same ethnic group then American whites and blacks are also the same race
@@words3147 No, the Palestinians are Not mostly the descendants of Jews and Christians. Palestinian Christians have different DNA than Palestinian Muslims, The Palestinians in Gaza have different DNA than the Palestinians in the West Bank. Many people claiming the identity of Palestinians are not from Palestine. They are recent Muslim refugees invited into the land by the Ottomans. Bosniaks, Circassians, Chechins and Sudanese are not Palestinians! And, Arab Levantine laborers that came into the land as support personnel for the British, and because of the prosperity brought by the Jews reclaiming the land. Egyptians, Syrians, Jordanians, Iraqis and Lebanese are not Palestinians!! The Palestinians are not an ethnicity, as Ukrainians are not an ethnicity, it is a Political identity created by the KGB and PLO in 1964 to try to destroy the Only Jewish state.
Thank you for trying to explain the situation in Israel. I always thought “Palestinian” was an ethnic group, and not an actual place. Let’s pray that someday this conflict will be settled.
Wost is, recent DNA studies showed that Palestinians were ethnically similar to ethnic jews who always stayed in Israel, so it's more of a war between brothers and sisters
The ethnic group would be pretty much just called Arabs if not for the tactical utility of branding themselves "Palestinian". If they just continued calling themselves Arabs, they have plenty of Arab states to go to. If they call themselves Palestinians, their land claim makes more sense. And if they procreate a lot, it adds more weight to it.
1:36 not a single palestinian was dispossessed from their home before 1947, everything was legally bought, but it was still considered as occupation/colonialism (including sheikh jarrah btw)
@@marcosenarosa4877 just try and search "earliest palestinian expulsion" or things like that, it will always give you the nakba of 1948, or ask an AI to give you an example, meanwhile jewish villages and neighbourhoods were being attacked, which lead to the formation of one of the terrorist groups, hagana, whose main purpose was to protect jewish settlements, and smuggle jews in to palestine, there might be an examole of an illegal settlement, but never in place of where palestinians have been
Yes because the Arabs were aware the Jewish people had a desire to create a homeland. Hence, the Arabs saw the land being bought as Jewish people trying to "take over". Doesn't excuse the atrocities committed though.

I wish the video was as good as you say. There were serious flaws in the chronology. Irgun and Lehi are mentioned as if they initiated the violence without anything to radicalize them, like events of 1929. There is more bias like this, supporting pro-Palestinian view on causality. No idea if it was a rogue researcher or team effort, but I lost faith in this channel.
Some oddities in language. 1 you mentioned a multicultural pre-israel population, but only called the Palestinians indigenous. 2 You showed a Jewish claim to a large portion of Jordan, but then ignored that division of Jordan. 3. You implied that the 6th day war caused tensions, but it was clear that those tensions predated, to a large degree, the 6 day war.
"Nasser's response was the nationalisation of the Suez Canal. On 26 July, in a speech in Alexandria, Nasser gave a riposte to Dulles. During his speech he deliberately pronounced the name of Ferdinand de Lesseps, the builder of the canal, a code-word for Egyptian forces to seize control of the canal and implement its nationalisation.[108] He announced that the Nationalization Law had been published, that all assets of the Suez Canal Company had been frozen, and that stockholders would be paid the price of their shares according to the day's closing price on the Paris Stock Exchange.[109] That same day, Egypt closed the canal to Israeli shipping.[110] Egypt also closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping, and blockaded the Gulf of Aqaba, in contravention of the Constantinople Convention of 1888. Many argued that this was also a violation of the 1949 Armistice Agreements.[111][112]"
That's like saying "You called America a multicultural country but only talked about Americans". You are confusing country and culture. Palestinians are Jews, Christians, Muslims, and members of many smaller faiths. The majority of Palestinians are of mixed Canaanite and Arab descent, but there are also Armenian, Greek, and African Palestinians. The Palestinian identify is itself one that encompasses multiple different types of people. So there are no "oddities of language" there.
Just because the brits occupied it doesnt mean there were no indigenous people . Britain illegally occupied Palestine and committed horrific atrocities to the Palestinian people. This debate is childish, no state deserves any land. Force is the only way a state can be established and maintained. If you want peace it will take blood, war & eventually compromise
People should learn to see conflicts from both sides and to not only accept the opinions or facts that align with their opinion about the conflict (and see the rest as propaganda of the "wrong" side).
Yeah the issue is that people feel a need to pick a side and claim they are on the good side when in reality most of the time there is no good side in a war.
@@Nib_Nob-t7x Yeah but at times it’s pretty obvious when one side is clearly in the wrong , and to look at “both sides” is pretty much trying to down play all the horrible things they did or say that “they were right” to some degree, especially when they are the aggressor in both cases.
One thing missing is the part where the Roman Empire came up with term Palestine which created the confusion as a whole as in Roman times locals called Judea and Israel

Why are there more than 40 Muslim nations and not a single one accepts Palestinian refugees?
Agree with the previous speaker. After so many years living somewhere one becomes one with the land and has a right to live there. A state is a formality. You cannot just ignore rights of people just because the dont have a formal state. A state is mentioned in international law because thats the normal actor. A state represents the people. This is a well-balanced video, which given the subject matter is quite impressive. Also impressive is your ability to largely explain a 100+ year conflict in just 16 minutes, pushing back against some of the more unscholarly and derogatory positions in the process.
The balance or impartiality is quite a good illusion. Some damning facts are mentioned about both parties to the conflict, not giving the viewer the nagging feeling that what they're watching is propaganda. However, when there were some critical omissions that couldn't be merely a honest mistake (or just for the sake of brevity), they were always removing causes to the actions of Israel, e.g. that the militias Irgun and Lehi were only formed after 1929 Palestine riots that saw a lot of Arab violence against Jews. Judging by positive feedback, it is quite clear that the subversion was quite efficient.

Good video. One common factual error was at 07:31 where you state that Israel had odds stacked against it in 1948. This misconception is due to the fact that officially Israel was fighting numerous Arab nations. In reality the Israelis outnumbered the Arabs 2:1 in terms of manpower, had access to better equipment and were better organized as they were under one command as compared to many different Arab commands. Israel was always going to win the 48 war. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Arab%E2%80%93Israeli_War

15:00 the goal of the disengagement from Gaza wasn't to promote the peace process, I distinctly remember prime minister Ariel Sharon stating so on his address on TV. he was a extremely anti the peace process, that why it was done unilaterally. In recent years Israelis hawks have tried to rewrite history, they retroactively say it was a peace offering...it wasn't perceived so by either side at the time.
The narrative on Palestine is so diluted with pro Israel fantasies unfortunately, that shows Israel as a country that wants peace when that was never entirely the case
Thank you for the video. A few comments: 1. There were massacre events of the Arab population against the Jewish communities prior 1936 (Jaffa in 1921 and Hebron 1929) 2. Most of the lands prior to 1948 were legally purchased by Jews from Arabs. Many times it has occurred that Arabs who sold territories to the Jews were murdered by their own communities for betrayal. 3. Most of the displaced Arabs on 1948 ran because their leaders told them that the Jews would kill them and that their displacement is temporary. Arabs that did not run and did not participate in the fighting still remain today - mostly Arab villages in the Galilee in the North. 4. 1967 - Israel opened the war after Egypt's president Gamal Abd al Nasser ordered the Egyptian army into Sinai, threatening Israel. 5. The Israeli invasion into Lebanon in 1982 did not happen in a vacuum, as PLO fighters regularly invaded and killed and sabotaged infrastructure in the North. 6. You said the Oslo Accords failed but did not manage to say by whom. According to former US president Bill Clinton, Yasser Arafat "disappeared" without signing the agreement. In the end, the territorial disputes were solved in all peace proposals. The one thing that kept on failing the negotiations is the Palestinian demand that the 1948 refugees and their offspring (today, more then 7 million people) go back, but not to the Palestinian state but into Israel itself - a demand that would topple Israel in terms of society, security and economy.

In this case, 3) would be Palestinian. The British and partially the UN, didn’t consider anyone anything other than Arab Ethnicity. Therefore the West in large part never acknowledged the Palestinian Ethnicity until the PLO attacked the Munich Olympics in 1972.

Depending on your own bias, you can choose which third, I suppose.
Exactly, it is one of the very very few unbiased videos
The Soviets had no role. The decisive role was for Britain, and after World War II, the role was taken by the USA and its support for Zionism.

I know it would be a very long video, but the era of the 1900s to present is just little sliver of history with that land. There is so much people need to know that simply starting there paints this situation as "where it all started" when it in fact didn't "just start' there.

@jotaro2690 LOL, no it does not.
But you know what they say about antisemitic propaganda right? A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can pull its pants up.
So I'm not at all surprised that some people have been fooled by the myth of Palestine.
Using the term Palestinians to mean Arabs is disingenuous. The Arab people in the land did not call themselves as Palestinians, and it gives the idea that they were all in the land forever, when there was massive Arab Levantine and Muslim refugee migration in the 1900s.
Palestinian DNA is overwhelmingly Canaanite being only 20% actual Arab
You could deny Ukrainians exist by the same logic. Not really a distinct group from Russians until the 1910s-20s. Also how does the last 70 years of history not make them distinct from the other Arabs? They’ve been 2nd class citizens in their home for 70 years. Also if they aren’t distinct then what are the Palestinian Christians? Palestinians are all pretty directly descended from the Israelites and canaanites. How aren’t they indigenous and distinct? If speaking the same language as other people makes you the same ethnic group then American whites and blacks are also the same race

@@Ghostiee8 Obviously, multiple countries support Israel.
@donaldseigel4101 you mean the Irgun and Lehi terrorist organizations
That's like saying "You called America a multicultural country but only talked about Americans". You are confusing country and culture. Palestinians are Jews, Christians, Muslims, and members of many smaller faiths. The majority of Palestinians are of mixed Canaanite and Arab descent, but there are also Armenian, Greek, and African Palestinians. The Palestinian identify is itself one that encompasses multiple different types of people. So there are no "oddities of language" there.

In reality, on this piece of land there has been everything BUT A PALESTINIAN STATE!
You don't have to have had a state to be a unique ethno-cultural nation
@@MyCaio1997 the point being palestinians don't have a claim on those lands. Jews do. By the way the only ones who have rejected a two state plan are the palestinians.
If there is no state then you have to deal with the people directly or their political representatives

Israel was always going to win the 48 war.

he was a extremely anti the peace process, that why it was done unilaterally. In recent years Israelis hawks have tried to rewrite history, they retroactively say it was a peace offering...it wasn't perceived so by either side at the time.

Thank you for the video. A few comments:
1. There were massacre events of the Arab population against the Jewish communities prior 1936 (Jaffa in 1921 and Hebron 1929)
