- Nosey decided to take the plunge, immersing herself completely in the cool pond. She was seen lowering her head under and scooping up water with her trunk, then spraying it into the air, while her large ears flapped and swayed all around her.
After spending her afternoon swimming, Nosey emerged from the pond and quickly wandered over to a cluster of nearby trees. With earnest effort, she leaned against their sturdy trunks, using the trees as scratching posts across her sides, back, head, legs, and tusks! This scene not only emphasizes the elephants' resourcefulness in staying cool and itch-free, but also highlights The Sanctuary’s diverse and natural habitats, where each elephant resident has the freedom to roam.

Located 85 miles southwest of Nashville in Hohenwald, Tenn., The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee provides elephants retired from performance and exhibition with individualized care, the companionship of a herd, and the opportunity to live out their lives in a safe haven dedicated to their well-being. The Sanctuary also works to raise public awareness of the complex needs of elephants in captivity, and the crisis facing elephants in the wild. The Elephant Discovery Center, The Sanctuary’s educational center with exhibits focused on elephants’ role as a keystone species, is open to visitors in downtown Hohenwald. The elephants’ habitats are closed to the public.

I love to see this! I saw this poor elephant when she was still with the "circus" that was imprisoning her, and then a year or so later signed a petition to free her to a sanctuary, and now I get to see videos like this of her enjoying life! ❤️❤️❤️

I protested for Nosey in Davenport when she was still owned by that heinous Liebel family. I have a photo of her on my fridge to remind me to say a prayer every morning for all of the others who were not lucky enough to find the peace and comfort that Nosey now has.

Oh my gosh. This makes my heart sing! It's because of Nosey coming to home to TES that I found out about the wonderful home for elephants, TES and I love the elephants and your amazing sanctuary home so much. ❤❤❤ Just when I thought I couldn't get any happier, she started making those huge splashes like a kid in a swimming pool. And then I thought I couldn't get any happier and she goes running down the path next to the pond. I am just...it sounds so 'silly', but my heart is singing now. Thank you TES, thank you SO MUCH for the love you give these elephants and the wonderful home and life they have with you. ❤❤❤❤❤

Oh yes...I am one of many who helped Nosey find peace for her senior years. Ths video is so beautiful...to see her tail wag so relaxed and gentle says so much about her contentment. Bless you all for caring for my favorite old beauty...Wish I were there to meet her. It is very beautiful country......

She's so playful, splashing and exploring all the sensations that the water is giving her. for most of her life she was so deprived to such natural pleasures, enjoyment and happiness.
