THANKYOU FOR TAKING ME WITH YOU TO THESE MAJESTIC ISLANDS CAPTAIN JAMES 😍😍
🌈🌎😍😍❤️❤️💎💎💎💎💎
Perfect episode. Sound, audio, & vid. Love the sounds of the bugs, birds & waves . Felt like I was there.
Epic video James thank you for sharing. Reminds me to be grateful this is my back yard.
Hi James lynn from canada what you are doing sailing around the world is amazing , new zealand ,pitcairn island is my. dream & many more thanks for keeping my dream possible.
Been following your journey for a long time. Solo sailing as well, and always look forward to your videos when I hit a new anchorage. Long story short, you are inspiring! Fair winds, brother ⛵️
Looks like a lot of fun and the area is absolutely gorgeous I like how you pull your anchor out on the dinghy when hiking just incase high tide comes super smart thing to do …thank you James for sharing.
Nice sail and explore!
Great episode yet again! Thanks for the inspiration! Just signed the papers for a slip in the local marina and got me an Albin Scampi 30.
That was a stunning hike James. Thanks for takng us along.
It's soo nice to see you've got the engine back up n running. I'm really enjoying your vids, it helps a lot to calm me down. Thanks James. Safe sailing.
Thanks for the effort you go through to share with us. I look forward to your vids each week and always enjoy them immensely.
Enjoy your content a lot James, both inspiring and takes me away. Thanks
Great cardio!!
I've been to the same place in January, did not eat the pizza but some burger in the place just before the pizza place. We also did the hike to the lighthouse in some 30+ degrees celcius and were as surprised as you were about the size! It is a really nice area. Check out Whale Bay, its just 5km north and is also beautiful.
When you get further south, check out the Mangawhai Cliff Walk - amazing views from up there.
Looking forward to hopefully see you visit the Coromandel, that's the region I love the most in NZ...
Love all your videos can't wait to join the adventure
Great episode- the sounds of the islands came through so clearly. I am wondering whether you have done any research into what it would be like to sail down around the bottom of the South Island and back up the West coast. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Yes I originally planned on sailing around both islands but rebuilding my engine took longer than expected and weather was terrible last summer so I didn’t get to. It’s not difficult to do, just takes time
James I put your video on the Big screen TV again and the Quality of your Videos are Absolutely Beautiful Once Again it felt like we were right there with you,Thank you that was Awesome as Always✨💕
Love these vids man! Come to Wellington!! Beautiful down here as well yo. Great Pizza in Newtown Moon Bar!
Great to see the village I spent my childhood in 1 to 15 years old.
My dad leased the farm that went from the main road to the lighthouse back in the 50s /60s , No hidden treasure in those caves, we check them out long ago.
You showed a clip of the boat builder shed, back in the day that was Watsons, it was a busy place back then.
It was a totally different place then, the gullys inland from the main road where tidal mudflat and could spear/nett flounder up there..
There was only the pub and a dairy with petrol available out front. Sadly the pub burnt down and it all changed.
They were happy days and a great community.
Cheers bro
PS: Pour knights are a magical place, well worth a charter trip on a good day so they can take the boat inside the cave and see right to the bottom without diving. And also take the boat through the hole in the island.
I like your show a lot because some others hardly sail but try to make a SALE .
Thank you 🙏🏻
James if you want to see some really beautiful country you need to visit the Kimberley's in Australia its second to none.
Also broom its on the south end of the Kimberly's the sand is pure white and the waters a beautiful light aqua blue colour.
you would love it it is paradise at its finest.
Yes they look beautiful, sadly they are downwind of where I will be clearing into Indonesia so I won’t get to visit them
@@SailorJames I've no doubt james this won't be your last around the world just put it on your todo list.
Absolutely!
Can't get enough of how awesome it is to open the windows on the dodger.
It’s sooooo handy to be able to open and close them
Engine sounds good.
It must be nearly springtime in the southern hemisphere. Hopefully warm winds will be along soon James.
Hi James....zeke here. I was a patreon but recently someone hacked my card so had to cancel it. Sadly I forgot to redo my patreon support......I'll remedy that soon.
Love the video. Reminded me a lot of my diving days around the Poor Knights, Hen and chick's and Barrier. Keep up the gr8 work....
I know the southern fjords are not possible this time around but do hope you one day get to see them 😉.....Certainly the 8th wonder of our amazing world.
If you get a moment their is a totally amazing video by the BBC called "wild new zealand", narrated by Sam Neil. It gives a beautiful taste of the fiords.....stunning mind blowing beauty.....just a thought for next time around 😉. Fair winds chap
I have seen that documentary, it was beautifully done!
Nice one James, Quality work as always!
Hi James, i really enjoy your channel and you showed the beauty of the area in this episode, hopefully one day I'll sail it too. My i recommended some wheels for the tender, especially for Australia as the tides are insane up north. Fair winds mate
I have wheels on my tender 👍🏻
@SailorJames my apologies mate, that looked like such hard work pulling the tender on that beach. Still it's worth the hard work for the great views. 👍
Probably too late now, but about 2 or 3 miles further up the harbour is a very protected bay called the Nook.
Yeah I stopped there several weeks after this was filmed, wonderfully protected spot
Cheers James for another great episode 👍
Spectacular views as always
Keep climbing those hills

What a beautifull place...question, can u line the interior of the engine space with some kind of soundproof material to deaden the noise? (Most hated noise for a sailor 😅) or would it raise the heat?
You can but I have not be able to find any that was fireproof and suitable for what I need
Most of the noise is coming through the engine mounts.
@@bwfvc7770 if that is so, it's easy to fix...u put a thick piece of rubber ( could be a piece of old tire) and put one between each mount and the engine. That will muffle the noise a lot.
@@loboestepario219 I used to soundproof diesel installations and you need to do it properly with proper mounts mounted at the optimal level and relationship to create a silent installation based on a Pythagorean triangle approach of Transmitted, Radiated and Convected sound rather than trying to take a noisy installation then flat plane silence it. And yes, good sound insulation is usually good heat insulation as well in the case of convected sound.
If I’m not mistaken it sounds like a 1 cyl yanmar engine, if it’s not the sound it makes it’s the awful vibration of it, and yes that is def worse on a polyester boat than a steel one as I used to have. It’s really difficult and almost impossible to soundproof them unfortunately. I’d recommend active noise cancelling headphones 😂😂
Awesome 👍 Mmmmm Bleu cheese 😊
man you should have cheacked out whananaki its got a nice little harbour and shop also sports the longest foot bridge in the southern hemisphere
Engine sounds good, check your sump for metallic particles in the engine oil. If it comes clean and compression is good , rest easy,
Wish I was there, in a way, in my own boat lol
How's the battery, it might be the battery, I think you'd noticed an alternator problem while motoring as well ☠️✌️
It seems like it's starting to get cooler here in the sw mo usa. Safe passages!
There is an overnight in between the south end also mooring buoy. Spent many a night moored there even in very bad weather.
Hey James. Been following your voyage from when you started in the states to Hawaii. Amazing journey mate. Nice to see my home Country from your perspective now that you're in New Zealand.I know nothing about sailing but you have changed that .Do you think you will be sailing to Australia? Stay safe and God speed.
I love New Zealand! Yes I will be sailing to Australia this coming January 🦘
Motor sounded good.
When you work so hard to discover something chill and hope you can spend time there and you get to the top and there’s people there! 😕
I don’t feel entitled to anything and don’t mind other people enjoying the same magic as me, they worked just as hard to reach that place as I did.
Thanks Sarah
Beautiful country ❤️
Is your Dingy Identified as Trading Tanker Triteia? Neat!
TT stands for Tender To
All the while watching your journey, no matter the trials and tribulations, I sure this part of your life has no regrets whatsoever, I hope so anyway. I'm sending good vibes from myself and Sam H. Take care dude, Crackerjack.

I love the story of the Maori who were offered money for New Zealand. Incredulous that anyone could be crazy enough to believe they could 'own' part of the planet, the Maori accepted. I can see their point a lot more readily than the alternative.
Are you gonna go to the south island to see the big mountains ??
Nice
You talk about redundancy. I was wondering can't you use a battery boost pack and leave it on board in case something goes wrong with your alternator?
Yep that’s an option
James are you planning on getting down to the south Island.
Yes, but only as far as Marlborough sounds and Nelson
Hi James, We would love to see you when you arrive in Nelson. Cheers Jimmy and Sue@@SailorJames
what equipment do you use for the videos? mic camera editing etc..
I film everything with a GoPro hero 9 in a media mod (mic)
Hi, can't you take a small wheeled folding bicycle on your boat with you, it would be top class for cycling to villages and towns and keep you in tip top condition, back, fitness, cardia, lungs and you would feel as free on the land as you do on the ocean.
No room to store it and I like walking
How long is a scope?
1 scope is the depth of water you are in
@@SailorJames thank you for the response
where's zhane? asking for a friend
Tell your friend if they watched the last episode they would know
Hahaha
Morena James
please for the love of god pronounce Aotearoa properly!
I am, maybe you aren’t 😘
