Hunting is fun, shooting guns is fun...but for me, watching a dog with a job do what he/she is trained to do is something else all together...that little tail wag when told "Good Dog!" is what makes it so worth doing and watching!
Long story about a great doh so don't bitch about it as I warned ya Man I can't agree more. I ran a German Shorthair named Copper. Damn was that dog a hunter, and boy did he LOVE to work. Not only that I'd work with him all day and I'd be unloading gear and cleaning birds and he'd go wrestle with my boys. After all that and we relaxed after supper he'd crawl up next to my wife and keep her feet warm while we wound down by the fireplace in my cabin. Damn was he the greatest dog. We loved him so much we searched for a good female to breed. We had 2 litters and stopped because she had huge litters of big pups. We has 32 pups from 2 litters. We had people calling us for 5 years asking when our next litter was they wanted another dog so bad. Had one running in the dog show circuit and took first for her breed and sporting group in Kentucky. I worked a few pups and they were as good as their dad. Plus they were all good pets. We kept 2 pups and kept track of about half of them all great dogs. Lost Copper at 15 to stomach cancer and one of his pups my son kept to work as well at 13. Man I miss them dogs. When I got hurt at work that dedicated hunter quit and became my best friend. I had 5 surgeries trying to fix my spine over 2 years and was bed ridden a year and he never left my side. Nothing like a dedicated hunting dog!
That lab is so happy with their job and I bet it slept hard that night. Reminds me of my best dog, my black lab Yoyo. As quick as he landed he’d be up in the air quicker than before
Chef JP is a top notch host! I really enjoyed duck camp dinners! Hope more of that is on the way! I like this one as well! Anything with JP is an automatic watch! His ability to narrate and really get in depth with the passion and heritage of the folks that he shares his hunts with makes it even better! He truly enjoys what he does and connecting with folks! Would love to get him to Illinois for a deer hunt or rabbit hunt!
Pretty cool and you couldn’t ask for much better duck hunting. Even so, Duck Camp Dinners still reigns supreme! Love that series of hunting, comradery, and of course cooking and eating.
Loved the duck hunting series you did last year Chef, this one did not disappoint. I think my favorite part wasn't the shooting but the conservation work they've done on that family homestead, super cool! keep them coming!
Every time JP shows up on the meateater feed I get excited. Him and Bagbey make better content than the original Meateater show. Hype for the next two episodes!
High praise! Thank you for watching. We have some very exciting things coming down the pipeline for y’all and I can’t wait to get started again this winter.
Looking forward to the next parts. Chef Bourgeois's fantastic series shooting in Louisiana and now Arkansas is a treat and for me some of the best content on MeatEater.
Nice content J P, your boys from the houseboat in Bayou Black would be foaming at the mouth seeing all those green heads locked up and coming in hot. No poulle deau up there in the flooded timber. It was raining mallards , Lloyd what you think about this stuff.....not too shabby for a country boy who moved to Texas and shooting like Daniel Boone......Thanks to the Carmichal family for being such awesome stewards of their land and creating and preserving habitat...BRAVO
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dick. He is a great man that’s all about some waterfowl. I could just sit and watch the birds come and go all day.
Aint nothing like hunting the timber in Stuttgart AK. some of the best hunting ive ever had a pleasure to be apart of. Got my first Greenhead there , and it was banded.
This video is fantastic, Well made and good education, The entire conservation movement has always been done by hunters. I used to hunt ducks as a kid in S. Carolina, this brings back.
The boss (JPB) is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can we get rid of all the other random knuckleheads that have been popping up on this channel and give those episodes to him?
Meat water is one of my favorites to watch Steve, Chef, Janis and all of the crew. I couldn't live in the south though too many mallards! I hunt lake superior and Mississippi river in Wisconsin and MN, give me variety flock of cans on Mississippi or flocks of teal on the big lake, plus there's always a shot at a rare duck, scooters, harlequin ,long tails, even saw eiders once almost got a shot. Thanks for doing a great job, keep them coming!
Chef JP, awesome hunt! This video show's the finer points of what duck hunting is all about. Long ago, my daddy taught me the old school way of hunting ducks and I still love it so! Good people, great dogs and good food, having fun in the woods! JP, what kind of cutdowns were y’all blowing in this video?? Lookin forward to the next Timber Tour!
What a treat of a video! Can't wait for parts 2 and 3. What a dream place to hunt waterfowl - striking beauty in a chilling and eerie way. Looking forward to watching.
It's great to watch another part of the country hunt ducks their way. I'm in Northern California and most of our hunting is in rice fields so when you see hunting in the timber the rice fields seem boring compared to timber hunts. Chef J-P can tell good stories on the hunt and looking forward to his new duck adventures.
What! No cooking!?! Sheeeit....Love to see the locals recipies...Mr.Carmichael is exactly the kind of land steward this country needs - Bill Gates and the CCP can pound sand. Great stuff JPB and Meateater👍👍
Family begged me to start duck hunting for years, always declined. Started 3 years ago now I've got a boat, a heap load of decoys and I'm 20K in debt. Best fun I've ever had with my clothes on.
No cooking?!? Great episode anyways!! My uncle bought a property a few years back. Been working it with him. Finally getting more and more duck in every year.
Hunting is not only essential for some but the fun, the hard work, the dedication, and the commitment to the game dog..there's nothing like it and is something else to say the least. Love every single part of this except the plastic buckles on the first lite waders… 😩 please First Lite!!! Put some metal clips or buckles on em please!! That was the only complaint I had about my bibs I bought as well for deer hunting.

I agree with you.

Incredible cheers from San Antonio 🥃
That lab is living the best life imaginable & you can see it in that tail wag & those eyes intently looking for the splash of a busted green head 👊

Family begged me to start duck hunting for years, always declined. Started 3 years ago now I've got a boat, a heap load of decoys and I'm 20K in debt. Best fun I've ever had with my clothes on.
Keep em’ coming
Watching a good dog work is better to me than watching the fellows shoot . I didn't know you could even hunt ducks in the timber. Great episode.. THX
Who wouldn't appreciate duck hunting like that, dog was in heaven with all those ducks.
Greetings from SW Arkansas
Love it!
No cooking?!? Great episode anyways!! My uncle bought a property a few years back. Been working it with him. Finally getting more and more duck in every year.
