Footage of numerous car crashes, spin outs, stuck cars, and even some guy falling on Nicollet Mall.
As far as we know, nobody was killed in any of the accidents in the crashes in this video. But A LOT of ego's were probably bruised :-)
All footage shot while working freelance for various television news networks.

I love when the guys first reaction to hitting a pole and getting rear ended it lighting a cigarette
Ah-yep, no need to get excited in Minnesota. If something interrupts your day and might cause you stress, well, then, best just keep calm and pretend like it's no big thing. Ah-yep.
I was about to say this 😂😂I noticed that
Yeah thats because its the first thing he does after getting rear ended by his boyfriend
Lmaooo he needed sum light
I think it was normal for him
I was driving in these conditions one day and a guy behind me was flashing his lights and honking because I was "going too slow". He finallly got frustrated and whipped around me in his 4x4 and IMMEDIATELY lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a guardrail. I have to confess I smiled.
I had something similar happen to me too. It was super icy and we were all sliding. Here comes this roundabout so we were going even slower going through it. I had about four car lengths between me and truck in front, who was at same speed as me. Sedan behind me gets pissy and speeds past us and as he came even with the truck, the truck slides and does a 45 into the car. I initially thought they hit, but both kept driving. That truck must have missed him by 1/2 and inch. Did the car learn anything? Nope, not even when he continued speeding and passed a jeep in the ditch. Don’t know if he ever wrecked or not.
Haha love it that's instant karma right there 😂
You’re better then me… I would’ve stopped and made sure he heard every word I would’ve had to say
Ive had that happen to me before. I was in torrential, and I mean lose traction at 15MPH and no visible lines kind of rain. So I went 15! Dude behind me laying on horns and speeding around me on the 1-laner. I imagine he didn't make it very far in that storm.
I was 18 at the time, so it was very scary and new to me.
I was so proud of that guy who drove back up out of the ditch.
SUV + AWD + Good tires?
@@jamieohjamie What was that vehicle?
Me too I was like thataboy
@@YoopsYoops I thought so. I have a 2017 Grand Cherokee and was impressed with that guys driving.
I was yelling at the video encouraging him. Then when he paused at the top for a moment, I was like dude!! But he must have been switching out of a low gear or low 4 wheel drive
I watch these videos at the beginning of the snow and ice season to remind me of how easy it is to lose control of a car, and that reducing speed, increasing distance, scanning conditions ahead, and anticipating stops and turns, are essential measures.
Makes me glad to live just outside of Chicago where all the streets get salted and plowed. Too bad there's lots of people that don't know how to drive though. Too fast. Tailgating.
They don't have a license. Or their drunk. Or they can't read signs in English. 🤦♂️🤦♀️
Haha...here in Ohio winter is tailgating season. And I don't mean football.
@@Alexandra-fz7lk Good one!!! LOL I did.
Exactly I literally drove to work the other day going 10-15 mph in a 35mph zone with all these trucks and suvs riding my @$$, but guess who made it to work on time with mediocre tire tread
Very true Art, but then again people here in Missouri and elsewhere tend to hurry to get somewhere. THAT causes wrecks and spinouts more than anything, especially with snow and slick roads.
0:42 dude lights a cigarette like half a second after getting in accident LOL
+Earthling1984 LOOOOOOOOOLL I CRIED
+Earthling1984 haha yeah it was really look funny
+Earthling1984 that was to attempt to hide his DUI breath....duh.
Probably trying to be like that Soviet Mig pilot that survives his plane disintegrating in a mid-air collision, parachutes down, and lights up a cigarette
+Earthling1984 HAHAHAHAHA the best part hands down!!!
0:41 guy lights a cigarette after crashing. Completely unfazed
maybe he hot boxed before and lights a cigarette to mask the smell
Definitely to mask the hotbox smell. Haha
Ivan Vasquez bu mı sabanfilm
NOS Huffer thats already been said
that was a hamlet cigar moment lol
I can just imagine a self driving car in these conditions- computer error 404, road not found
Lol
😭😭😭😭😭
Lol
They won't call them accidents anymore, they'll call them glitches.
it’ll be many more decades until self driving cars will be actually self driving, i wouldn’t trust teslas autopilot in this weather to save my life. no thanks
I don't understand why some people get out of their cars in the middle of roads like if there is no one else who might slide and crash into them.
They're just plain stupid
Tips from a Canadian:
1- Get winter tires
2- Don't brake unless you really need to
3- Slow down
4- Keep your distances
5- If conditions are very bad, stay home!
Can’t stay home when you will be fired for not arriving to work.
Here in Minnesota a lot of businesses close if its too dangerous, or at least are lenient on employees being late.
I’m sure Canadians never slide off the road or get in crashes because of slick conditions. Please. Some of us don’t live in the arctic. So when it rains, turns into freezing rain and then snow driving is tough. Plus you can’t fix stupid.
6- Don't live in a climate inhospitable to human life
7 - Move to Southern California! We got no snow tires, ice scrapers, salt trucks, sand trucks, etc.
LMAO... Car accident? Light up a cig and chill.
He didn't knock out the light, so a friend came along and helped him knock it out. :))
No stress there
+Vincent “Yrendan” Boehler Lol that was funny
the guy was probably too stressed out from that situation and a smoke helps
keep calm and let me light a cig
0:33 After two seemingly stupid impacts, he lit a cigarette, and he could see that he was completely down😂😂😂
6:34 You know the situation is bad when the snowplower gets stuck.
thank you sir!
for a fully excellent video with NO awful music and the ACTUAL audio from the events as they transpired.
well done!
I recognized a couple of shots from MT.
It's actually good
Finally! Someone else who HATES videos with awful and needless background music!
Love that Jeep Grand Cherokee's stunt at 2:42 of pulling itself out of being off in the ditch.
Jeeps are incredible
Credit the tires. Where Jeeps excel tends to be in low-speed off-road maneuvers; this was just a matter of powering uphill via 4-wheel traction
@@nthgth True.
I'll never complain about living in the desert again. 😂
Honestly as a Canadian I'll take our bitter cold over heat exhaustion lol
Or just stay off the roads.

when the snow removing equipment can't get traction and slide off the roads, its a pretty good indication you shouldn't be on the road, either.
Except some people actually have places to go?
@@SuperVarunan so i guess having somewhere to go is more important to having your life got you...
@@officialnas2523 Some people don't have a choice to not go to work? Maybe they were on their way back? Maybe they had an emergency? How are you going to know the intentions of everyone?

Or they put out the summer crews. Wrong tires and all. Pedal to the metal don't work.
The maxima hits the lamp post and immediately lights up a cigarrete WTF!
That's what I would do too!
he probably just got done smoking a joint or something in his car had to use the cig to mask the smell lmao!

Billy Madison fo sho i know what ya mean, i would have prolly lit a cig up too in any case
Most likely drunk had to light that cig up real quick to mask his breath

Alter not alternate lol.

Watching this while I wait for my car to warm up to go drive on icy roads.
This makes me appreciate living in Las Vegas during the summers.
Impressed that grand cherokee got up that ditch! Siiiick
Jeeps actually have one of the best 4 wheel drive systems, they are great for getting a person unstuck if they know how to properly use the system. However, they can be extremely light and when I had mine we had to put sandbags in the back to give it some weight.

This is really dangereous, i'm here after the Texas accident more than 50 vehicles crashed
Same man
100 I think.
And this is why you need to buy "winter tires" not "all season"
Danny G nah bro I've learned to drive on all season tires on 2000's cars with no abs or txt you're just a bad driver
Julian Davis LOL!!
David Stevenson
Maybe you're just not aware as to how the rubber is different with winter tires David,
In extreme cold temperatures, the tread rubber of an all season or summer tire stiffens and becomes less able to provide sufficient traction (it can be equivalent to ice tires trying to drive on ice road) To combat this, tread rubber compounds of winter tires are designed to remain flexible and soft, allowing the tire to grip the road better.
Julian Davis You never heard the stereotype that Canadians are too nice etc? It's proven thag Canadians are nicer then us Americans, but who cares.
I gotta give Canadians credit for the best thing ever Crown Royal Reserve, i always carry a bottle in my my work truck....fock it! because I can.
0:44 did this guy just light his cigarette??? Lmao!

*THE* smartest thing to do when you wipe out in the middle of the road, is get out in the middle of the road with more vehicles coming at you, and walk around your vehicle inspecting things. [eyeroll]

I love the difference between guys losing control of their car and gals.
Gals: *start screaming*
Guys: "Uh....... not good."
first clip, guy puts the pedal to the metal as he heads towards a pole, subsequently striking it. Then gets rear ended, as he proceeds to light up a cigarette. classic.
What an aboslute tool.
Cruise Canada I'm pretty sure he was just trying to get out of the way of the other car, it's better to hit the pole than get t-boned... of course he got rear ended anyway but whatever
Cruise Canada like a boss
He pinned it to get out of the way. Use some common sense before you wanna bash someone.
I at first thought that he was just being an idiot but then I realized that he revved it up to try to get out of the way of that oncoming car behind him. That was however the quickest lightup of a smoke that I have ever seen.
'Wow, not good ' as the momentum carries him through open off-road area and back up on the ramp he was on. 'That sucked ' but you can almost hear a smile and relief in his voice

Me: when guy falls at 0:18 you know it’s gonna get good
It's usually the 4 wheel drivers who thinks they're invincible.
yup. i've noticed that the best drivers are those in small boxes.
they usually drive extremely carefully... cause if they ever hit a bunny... they're all dead.
Bobby D Mac I drive a lifted 4x4 with snow tires I’m not invincible but I’m better off than nearly all of these people
I drive a 4WD Toyota Tacoma and I still drive like a grandma when its slick. I dont care what you drive, ice is nothing to underestimate
Ice is ice doesnt matter if you have 2, 4, 6 or 100 tires. They're made out of rubber and dont even say "WeLL yEa bUt i HaVe MiChELiNs" that's just a brand name buddy. Tires are tires and when its slick out there you should be driving 20mph under the speed limit
It's pretty easy to drive on ice is you are light on the brakes and the throttle. You also should try to avoid steering as much as possible, and steer slightly and take corners widely. If you spin out, you should go light on the brakes and counter steer as much as possible to get yourself back in a straight line. Not saying you shouldn't be careful on ice.
Winter tires would solve the problem 90% of these...
No. If you lose control on snow on bad tires, driving skill isn't always going to save you.
Jim Garrity somebody's never driven on icy roads before
I would like to know what miracle winter tires you have?
Gordon Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06
***** It's all good, :) the point is better tires would have prevented most of the wrecks.

Winter tires guys, winter tires. Hello from Russia.
^^ this. Hello from Canada

Thanks, Canada is awesome!
Hello from Michigan where snow tires aren't allowed. Snow tires aren't allowed in the "Water, Winter, Wonderland". Go figure.
How about chains ?
Gerculy Robert
Chains are good on snow.
This is why semi's are required to wear chains in Colorado.
I always air down my tires and put chains on, works like a charm.
Best advertisement for winter tires and snow chains ever
Most of this could avoided by slowing down or just staying home 😂
3:30 hey officer drifting not allowed
I was all set to broadcast this video til I saw the watermark.
You can telecast it

The guy walking @5:00 after crashing his car into the truck in the ditch see's another guy spin out but recover. He was SO jealous at that moment LOL!
I love the idiot at 3:45 that after spinning out on ice proceeds to pull out in front of other vehicles and stop on the same ice patch. Amazed he wasn't hit.
0:45,. That's a 'Hamlet', cigar moment. lol
***** Haha, yup, when that happens, the fat lady is fine tuning her vocal chords. Better to admit defeat with dignity than raise a right hoo-ha about it. Thanks once again for sharing your footage with us, nice one. :) Stay safe. Oh, question: What does American law say about the use of tyre-chains in icy conditions? I'm hazarding a guess here that it's not compulsory, (lol), but does it say it's advised, or something like that?
***** Chains being allowed in most areas, begs a question,.. why do so few motorists use them? Ok, granted, when you set out in your car and it's light flurries, you're not likely to want to spent and hour or so changing all your tyres to get chains on; I suppose it only becomes apparent that chains are needed when it's too late - ie, when you're sliding backwards into a gully, lol.
Maybe tyres need chains built into them,.. 1st mode would be normal tyres, 2nd mode would be chains deployed, at the flick of a switch. The pneumatic tyre has a lot to answer for and it's hardly changed since its conception.
+Edohiguma I carry and use tire chains but most drivers these days have never heard of them and frankly, most people are too lazy to put them on. *That's my thinking.
+Kris A (londongamer) That was awesome. He knew he was going to be late for wherever he needed to be so why not light up? lol
+PotatoGunsRule you´re right, nearly noone got tire chains, here in Germany too, especialy for trucks, their using is ordered by law, on some streets or roads, if the weather makes them nessesary.

4:49 okay but that was so smooth.
Spin the tires as fast as possible! That is the way to get the MOST traction.
Ironi?
rune229 Sarcasm.
hahahaha some people huh? they either accelerate or brake... neither help on ice... makes you wonder how people get their license.
+LowFlyin' You mean just like the guy at 2:05? Ha ha!
+IngeniousFirefly yes you are right, that friction is created but is only beneficial when your tire speed decreases.. that's when physics generate forward momentum... but most of these individuals in this video, floor the accelerator and don't allow for any forward momentum to build. the forward force is to great for the tire to grip. If these drivers would bring their rpm up then let the rpm fall the tire would start to slow and transfer that power to the ground.
2:33 those people are so inconsiderate. There's a no parking sign right there, yet they park right on it! What has this world become?

Ah, Minnesota. As a Minnesota resident, can confirm. Almost all of these were from Minnesota (or Minnesota plates).
Same here. I don't risk driving when it gets this bad. Sleet storms are my biggest fear in the winter. During a sleet storm I don't risk leaving home.
Because they're pretty well plowed for the most part, so the chains will hit the pavement and slide. Almost everybody has snow tires though, and a lot of people avoid driving those days if possible
@@technicallydifficulties7094 Im curious, do you spin out even with winter tires on?
@@MZBrandao Yes, depending on speed and road surface. But winter tires definitely make a difference. Using "all season" tires in winter is like using bowling shoes to walk on ice.
its funny watching people fall, but not when it is you.
5:05 Stay in your vehicle man until police or ambulances arrive and block the roadway. You could be hit or crushed by other cars.
totally agreed. if there would be another car hitting them, that guy would is deadly injured
I can honestly imagine that at some point in the future all official roads are going to have heating systems underneath to avoid ice altogether.
gonna be crazy expensive but who knows in maybe 100-200 years
The way climate change is going I doubt we'll even have Icy roads in the future
Perhaps. It is important not to doubt ourselves, however. We went from primitive humans hunting for food, to now being able to get food on demand with the use of money. We figure things out...
@GamesGoodBeeBad Do you have any idea what the word barbaric means?
You don't need heated roads if you just buy good winter tires...

If you live in an area that experiences ice and snow storms like I do , here is a word of advice . Stay off the roads unless you absolutely can't help it . Always carry snow chains , and emergency supplies that includes some very warm clothes ,[ you may have to get away from your car to avoid someone crashing into it ], in your car in case you break down or are stranded because of an accident .

True, it's not something you see everyday, but he could faint or suffer a panic attack and looks like his way of calming is smoking.
I come back to videos like this when I think that I miss New Jersey. Merry Christmas from sunny Florida!
This should be titled “why I have severe anxiety when I have to go anywhere during a Colorado winter”
I know what you mean. I live in a mountainous region that gets lots of snow in winter, too. Even with winter tires on, you still have to drive cautiously, if you must drive. Do you notice that a lot of people still drive like it's summer? Idiots!
I LOVE winter driving... but, being from Los Angeles, I'm also the biggest candyass on the road. Slow lane behind a line of 15mph trucks? No problem.
Being that you're a driver from a warm weather state, you are incredibly wise about winter driving on snow covered highways. What is amazing about this video is that many of these accidents are in Minnesota, there was even a MN cop that was spinning his wheels like crazy from over acceleration, I guess bad winter drivers are not just a geographic phenomenon. To be fair, many of accidents were on ice, which of course you have zero control on, it's already too late by the time you discover you're on a patch or a section of it.
I love the part wih the no parking sign and the truck is on it

This video is both alarming and eye-opening. ❄💔 The dangerous driving conditions and reckless behavior shown here are truly frightening. People with 4wd think they are invincible LOL.
Richphotos1 people that have 4 wheel drive need to learn that they should have winter tires to.
Winter tires are a waste of money. Good set of AT tires and some common sense to drive for the conditions is plenty good.
I have lived in MN my whole life and never once did my family or anyone I know spend money on winter tires with out an issue. Hell, I have a 2wd Trailblazer now with a good set of AT tires and wont have an issue this winter.
I used to drive a tow truck. The first people in the ditch during a storm have 4wd. The next are the gawkers looking at the 4wd in the ditch who then follow them in.
I guess its a good thing no one said to put AT on a car, 4x4 on the other hand...

It's called:
"Driving too fast for conditions."
Did you notice most of these license plates look like they’re from Minnesota. Lol

If your blender sound like squeaky tires then its time for a new blender
ahah that’s a 3rd gen accord hatch! I have one in my front yard 😂.
Here's a tip from my experience if you drive a pickup truck like I do, in the snowy/icy conditions put cinder blocks or something else real heavy in your truck bed, it will help you with traction and helps keep you from fish-tailing. I don't have 4wheel drive, I'm just rear wheel drive. People look at me crazy sometimes when I suggest this but it really does help.
Rwd in the snow ain't the best idea, but if you do, an engine block or bags of cement in the back will help loads
When I had driven cars I would leave a couple of bags of salt in the trunk to weigh the car down. Sand would have been better in case a bag broke but you go with what you've got.
Bags of salt are best since you can use it to melt ice if you get stuck on an icey patch.
Just use winter tires.
I use some old railroad ties that we have lying around. Throw in a container of kitty litter for any extra needed traction with some appropriate tires and I’m all set.
Driver at 4:29 was impressive! Adjusted as good as you could on ice!
Yup! Minnesota! This is my entertainment in the winter at work driving semi!
