1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway.
2. AJ is currently signed with Republic Records.
3. AJ began singing at 18 months. Her grandmother was a jazz/blues fan and played that genre of music for AJ. She fell in love with it very early on and has even arranged most if not all that she sings from age 8. What an incredible talent.
4. Currently in 2022 she is in her mid-teenage years, stands 6 foot tall and still performs barefoot. The backstory of her encounter with the homeless girl she met while she traveled with her family through Iran at age 6 includes the weather damaged bare feet of the child she gave her own shoes to.
5. The reason she performs barefoot is to bring awareness to her public of the children worldwide who can't afford shoes of their own. She has raised millions of dollars for clothing including shoes for those unfortunate children. 💕

She's a person who pays attention to every detail. This is September 2022, and this summer she dropped a cover of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." You might want to check out first the B&W studio version, then one of the live summer performances in Norway. 💜

Jordan published the book Mellom to hjerter (Between Two Hearts), which was illustrated by her grandmother, Iranian artist Mery Zamani The book tells the story of her meeting a poor motherless girl in the Middle East who has no shoes. After a long conversation in which they discuss their dreams in life, she gives the girl her shoes and the girl promises to pray for Jordan to fulfill her dream to become a successful singer. According to Jordan the book is based on a real incident that happened when she was six, which she cites as the reason for always performing barefoot.

You only get two and a half minutes to audition for AGT.. The first audition .. after you get to the other side of that one you get more time. Angelina does her own arrangements for most of her covers. She started very young .. she is 13 here (three years ago) and arranged a ridiculously BRILLIANT version of this song for us. Queen loved this and posted it on their page, praising her arrangement. A few weeks or months later they GAVE her the rights to her own arrangement of this iconic song. Gave. Amazing.

You will find your eyes watering at times at her passion for the songs, her arrangements, and the excellence of her vocal skills. And then there is the astonishing quality, class, and character at all of her ages. I'm jealous of you first learning all the things about AJ. You are about to be under her spell. There are so many amazingly stunning songs she has done, and several that are beyond performances. They are experiences. When you get around to I Put a Spell on You, the black and white studio version, don't take your eyes off of it from beginning to end, every movement, action, expression, timing. Probably the most amazing child recording of a song ever, considering she did the arrangement, even making last minute changes you will see at the beginning. She was 9 years old. Then there is the "Leaked" cover demo of I'm Still Holding Out For You, written by Baby Fuzz. His version got 27k views on UA-cam. Hers got 321k. But he wrote a simple but deeply passionate song that her arrangement and voice has made a masterpiece. She was 10 years old.

I have listened to this song several hundreds of times and each time I am simply in awe of how remarkable this cover is arranged and performed. Angelina is not a star in the making. Next will be the new album she's working on. And this summer in Norway she'll be doing her first live concerts since corona hit. A gig on the Kongsberg jazz festival and a sold-out standalone concert in Sandefort plus a second extension concert. And she'll be performing on a big tv music festival. I hope her performance will be recorded as in the previous years on that show.
Why Does Angelina Jordan Perform Barefoot? When Angelina was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. (Her grandmother is Iranian artist Mery Zamani.) The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. And Angelina said she never wears shoes on stage to all children have shoes!

Geat reactions to two of Angelina's best tracks, but there are many more out there. How about a black & white video of her recording her own arrangement of I Put A Spell On You, based on the original by songwriter/performer Screamin' Jay Hawkins? It was the song that gave him his nickname, and Angelina's take is the craziest, bluesiest, soulfulest version I've ever heard in over 50 years of listening. Most fans think by the time she was 10, she had a fully adult voice that has continued to improve over the next 6 years.
