      This makes me wonder if there's still a point in learning new languages. Ai will take over tons of jobs regular human beings were needed for before, as it's already happening. It was exactly the ChatGPT business that fired like 700-something employees a few weeks ago, as they've been replaced by AI.
      The depopulation agenda of the elites makes perfect sense. Yuvel Noah Harari is a piece of shit who expresses their notions about so many "useless people" and the "useless class" best. We are "useless eaters" according to freaks like Henry Kissinger who they want to get rid of.
      But go on enjoying ChatGPT and other technology before it's Game Over for all of us! You can proceed, but you'd better do it with some caution, since it's no secret they are able to gather even more information about you than ever before like this.

    This info is brilliant! I am prepping for the Italian C1 exam, and chatGPT has been very useful already. I love being able to ask for clarification when the question comes up and not wait for the next opportunity with a person or Skype partner. It is great at clarifying the distinctions that occur between synonyms, such as “hate” and “detest.”

      That's amazing! I'm excited for you to take the C1. I did the Spanish C2 a few months back, and I enjoyed the process of preparing and taking the exam much more than I thought I would---quite a satisfying feeling. I'm working on some better conversation tools to make ChatGPT more mobile friendly for conversation practice that I hope to share with the community soon (especially thinking about how nervous the other test takers were for the conversation part of the exam). Cheers and rooting for you 🙏🏽

    • @JerryRegistre
      @JerryRegistre  Рік тому

      Really glad to hear you're enjoying the book so far. The brackets [ ] in the Template section are placeholders to customize the prompt, changing things like the language, point values, and language difficulty to be customized to you. And the brackets in the Prompt section are there to help ChatGPT understand where to fill in its responses. If you look at the Demonstrations page 101, you'll see that ChatGPT fills its response in the brackets I left after "Current round:"

    I am happy to buy your book but have 2 questions.
    1. You mention that you will continue improving the wording of the prompts. Do those who buy an early edition of the book get free updates?
    2. Can your prompts be easily altered by the user to adjust to their level with the new language?
    Thanks in advance for your answers and especially for the work you have put into this project. Very admirable.

      Thanks for the kind note, Michael 🙏🏽 This is a labor of love for me, so I’ll keep sharing the useful language hacks I find with the community. To your questions:
      1/ That’s my plan. I’m still getting a sense of how frequently this book will need to be updated, but I’m aiming to find a reasonable pace that keeps up with the feedback and tech changes.
      2/ The templates I left for each prompt focus mainly on changing the level and language (and sometimes point values and categories for games), so this should be yes. Let me know if you run into any issues using the templates.

    Hi, Jerry. I'd like to start by thanking you for sharing your knowledge and inspiration. I haven't bought the PDFs yet, so I might be getting ahead of myself, but I have 3 questions for you:
    1. Am I correct in assuming that chatGPT can use wordlists that I provide from the textbooks I am teaching?
    2. Isn't chatGPT learning from the prompts you're creating and the detailed instructional tweaks you're providing. In other words, aren't you making chatGPT better at helping language learners by doing what you've done?
    3. Won't chatGPT provide instruction in languages that use different syllabaries? I'm at B2 in Spanish, and I'm guessing that I am at B1 in Mandarin and A2 in Arabic. So, will chatGPT converse in those languages, too?
    Keep up the good work! I'm so looking forward to following your channel and your lead while using this new technology!!

    • @JerryRegistre
      @JerryRegistre  Рік тому +2

      Thank you, Hank! I'm a techie at heart, so I'll keep tinkering with these tools and sharing anything valuable I find with the community here. To your 3 questions:
      1/ I've fed ChatGPT vocabulary lists before to have it quiz me and use them in conversation practice, so this should be yes. I should have a few prompts in the book that show examples of this (prompt #1, for example).
      2/ It takes a while for OpenAI to go through these reports to eventually improve the model, but yup--we're likely all contributing to improving the model for language learners as we use it with these and other prompts we come up with (especially if you rate ChatGPT's answers with the thumbs up and thumbs down options).
      3/ ChatGPT should work for a wide range of languages. It bases its knowledge on the internet, so it works really well in English and Spanish (the #1 and #2 most popular languages on the internet if I recall correctly), but its accuracy may not be as good for other languages. So when it comes to other languages, I would see if you can stress test it with other languages and check in every once in a while to make sure it's not teaching you mistakes.

    • @MichaelBoyd1
      @MichaelBoyd1 Рік тому +8

      Even if true, what's wrong with that? He must have truly spent lots of time, thought, and energy on each prompt. Then he had to format the information in a usable format.
      You can also look at his other videos to see how to create prompts and more useful and free stuff. If you can do it on your own, good on ya. If you prefer to get to the important part of learning a language, then pay someone to do it for you.

    It makes a lot of mistakes in grammar. I told it it was wrong in another language and it found another answer but that was wrong too, then finally it gave me the answer back in English that I was asking it to correct! It has a very long way to go. Probably a good reason for AI to slow down since it's actually not that precise. In fact if you tell it the correct answer by giving it an incorrect answer it will agree with you anyway and say it apologises. Not great so far.
