To get the most out of the video challenge adjust the settings as follows: put the skills to listening, the question count to 10, and the mode to multiple choice. Then you can adjust the account to dark mode (as it's more attractive) and the default speed to 75% for better hearing the questions. Doing a dry run will ensure all the settings are correct. Keep a notepad by your side to keep track of the language scores. Before you end the video it would be nice if you encouraged other polyglots and language Learners to take up the challenge.

The main problem is that it will start talking back even if you just have a tiny pause between your sentences. It should wait longer or be better at knowing when you are finished talking.

I think the best solution would be if it does like humans: listens while it is talking. Then it stops walking naturally if you start talking.
In my experience if you want it to do that, just tell it to. It does a lot of things wierd, i just correct it. And it learns, somewhat. Chatgpt 4 should be better

Really cool vid! Takk 😊 i have been learning swedish for quite a long time. Didn't start with chatgpt though but lately i use it and ask it to write me short stories in swedish 😊 or even talk about music and movies in swedish with chatgpt ... I still stick to youtube for grammar analysis and explanations 😊 and I try to read literature (ebooks) and listen to podcasts in order to expand my vocabulary and listening skills. Since i live in Greece (greek mother tongue), it is not that easy to find people to practice speaking... The trick you showed on the video... I had no idea we could use chatgpt to practice speaking actually!!! Thanks a lot 😊😊

This is so funny that you made this video as I have started using ChatGPT to help improve my Norwegian. The written component is crazy strong, but, as you said, the pronunciation is wonky. I wonder if they are working on that. I would find it particularly interesting if they could develop it far enough that it could also coach a person on pronunciation. I really like the ability to ask questions in Norwegian and have it correct my Norwegian and explain what I did wrong.

Tried this today and I am loving the AI back and forth conversation. It feels like I'm talking with a real person. And I need consistent practice throughout the day to become fluent.
I've been wearing my Meta Quest3 and using Wander to 'virtually visit' places and ChatGPT as above to talk about them in the Native language (mostly French)... Immersive!

It's an excellent way for learning vocabulary systematically, however, pronunciation is everything! I hope there will be a tool in future to do this similar to the language tools that already exist
You can open text files with edge browesr and have its nice voices read stuff for you. However, it will be weird with mixed language input O_o.

I use both Windows and Android - no Apple anything. So I don't have any of those buttons/menus/prompts you showed. Can you do a very short video on Android or Windows showing just how to set up/access the ChatGPT? I think once you're in the program it should be similar. Thanks. FYI. I tried doing this through searches and my screens look NOTHING like what you showed and it doesn't show the options you mentioned. Thanks.

Been using many things to learn languages, once this is more accurate, that is a solid way of teaching, as far as how productive its good for conversations, I asked for a stimulation and I gave the AI an age and background and occupation, then if I got stuck in practicing language I asked how to to say "blank" in target language and it explained in english then switched to target language to include in dialogue. Only thing if you want learn things slowly its not for you, AI lists things incredibly fast, it only slows down if in simulation conversation. I am impressed might actually get chatgpt plus now I am convinced.

Hi Andy. I commondeered someone elses language prompt and generalised it so u can learn any language, i also reduced it to syntax so its only 950 characters and you can finetune it how u want it. Note that The first response we will get sounds weird only because we havnt chosen a language yet and its translating nothing but once we choose one it works great. One of the great things you can ask chat GPT is to include the 6-8 spaces between the norwegian and english vocab list. it means you can easily cover the screen on one side and memorise the opposing words.

I have never met anybody who spoke a language fluently by learning it from AI. However, it is a very useful tool for language learning.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to learn a new language well enough to speak it fluently?
I'd be amazed if you had met anybody who's achieved this, the tech hasn't been available for long enough for most people to get past beginner.

Vielen Dank für das Video. Ich werde versuchen mit Gemini mein akustisches Französisch-Verständnis zu verbessern. ChatGPT habe ich nicht ausprobiert, Bing/Copilot hat auf französisch mit deutscher Aussprache geantwortet - grausam, so schlecht kann man gar nicht französisch können, dass es einen da nicht graust.
Aber Gemini scheint es nicht schlecht hinbekommen 👍

This is actually pretty cool, but I would like to have an option to make it talk slower when saying something in the target language. I've tried practicing some German, but it was too fast for me
I found this to be a problem too. My solution was to ask to speak slower and repeat when I couldn’t catch what was said. Keep at it! The pace will become clearer with more practice. Enjoy learning German and best wishes on your language journey.

It sounds interesting, but the pronunciation in Norwegian is disturbingly poor! I speak several languages, including Swedish, German, English and have lived in many countries. Pronunciation is everything! I hope this can be improved.

I've been testing and it has some flaws...
The best thing about it is it can generate some word quiz that you can try to answer.
Or as a translator... At least it can do multiple translations at once. I learn French and Spanish, and when I use a normal translator, I have to manually change the language options to go back and forth between French and Spanish. But I can ask ChatGPT to translate it to French & Spanish at the same time.
Guess translator apps should be worried by this AI ...
And the flaws are : it doesn't have a built-in speaker that sounds like native. Some translator/language learning apps have better speakers. In translator app, you can at least replay/re-listen again in slow speed.
It's good for some of my needs, but I still wouldn't recommend this to people who seriously wants to learn languages. There are apps out there designed for language learning that included AI technology.

My ChatGPT4 keeps hitting a wall when doing the second prompt, "Can you give me the top 150 Greek words for each module With English Translations in a list?". This is not new for this specifically, but I find that other "intensive" prompts like these, often fails. Any suggestions how to overcome this?

I'm trying to practice Spanish, but when the computer talks it sounds very 'gringo' (por favor sounds 'pour fave-or' instead of 'por fah-voor'. Is there any way you can make Chat GPT fix this so I'm not learning bad habits?
There seems to be nothing you can do to have it slow it's chat down. I have tried asking it and it only does it a couple of rates slower. I find it is still far to quick.
