- This is for my students, but anyone is welcome to watch.
A short lecture on using Adobe Illustrator's Blob Brush tool, Eraser tool and Compound Paths. Then a demonstration of the assignment. Take a photo with a strong shadow pattern and break it down into positive and negative shapes.
thank you!
Hi Joshua, so i was using the eraser to cut back into the fill allowing the white of the artboard to come through. Makes for a lot less paths to keep track of.
Good stuff. Thanks!
Ran across this on a google search for how to make the blob brush work with pressure. Variations was what I was missing.
Great tip with Template layer as well. Didn't know about that.
I'm able to use the hollow + arrow tool to select the interior shapes for deletion as well. I use this to get watertight fills (of different colors within the outline) by selecting those and copy/paste in place. Not sure if there's a slicker way to do that :)
Hiya, love this, just one thing... how do you quickly fill the negative space in isolation mode?
thanks a lot!!
It's a great explantion of the blob brush.
By the way what sort of tablet r u using. Is it iPad or android tablet.
wondering if u could use illustrator on tablet. Please explain
Hi H Nur,
I use tablets by WACOM. The least expensive one's are just fine and they fit in your backpack. I rarely ever use my iPad for art makings ,as I am spoiled by have a nice computer with Adobe software and tablet, also iPads don't have pressure sensitivity to my knowledge. I'm glad you like the lesson and hope it helps you make art.
Good tutorial but very bad quality of image.
