@lykkebianca You can use the blob tool and then switch to the Gradient Mesh tool (Keyboard Shortcut U) and start adding lines in to create a gradient mesh on your paint blobs. Keep in mind though that it may be quite difficult depending on the shape, that's why a lot of tutors will recommend starting out with a square and adding lines and moving the mesh points till you shape the object how you need it.
I love this tutorial... sounds silly but I have been using photoshop for ages and usually stick to the mouse as i Just didnt know much about using the wacom... I started using it more recently and found it so fiddly especially swapping between eraser and pen - discovering you could use the back end of the pen to erase was like PING! THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! Also I am really new to Illustrator and this helps a lot, just knowing where to change little settings to get what you want. Much love!
@BetaStationX make sure youve installed your driver for your tablet properly, you could check it out by going to the control panel and clicking on the tablet properties icon
@fhkd it turned out to be exactly that thanks! i was sure the drivers were already installed from the CD that came with the tablet but apparently they weren't. Now they are and everything is working great.
I have my Wacom tablet connected to my computer and so far it responds great but Illustrator won't let me choose the "pressure" option on "size" anything i may have to do before hand so that i can adjust it? currently it's just gray and i cannot select it.
is it possible to use mesh or gradients on illustrations drawed with the blob tool ? i have a lot of figures drawed with blob tool and i want to colour them nicely and also keep them seperate so they can be moved around - possible ???
I really like your video, but I keep trying and searching in internet and I can't find a way to do what you did, paint inside de lines like de area was selected, I try what you did and with the blob brush tool the lines doesn't stay inside de area that I want to paint, just like you did... I don't understand why.. sorry for my english!
to the ones wondering why some options are grayed out: chances are, you are not using a tablet with a pressure-sensitive pen. when you use a mouse, you only have the options for a fixed width (since a mouse is not pressure-sensitive). get a tablet! you'll definitely thank yourself later.
When I double click the BLOB BRUSH it only gives me the option to choose FIXED or RANDOM everything else is GRAYED OUT, how do I change that? And also how do you flip your BLOB BRUSH to become an eraser?
Every stroke I make seems to reset my brush and i lose pen pressure. I have turned off 'new art has basic appearance' but this does not help. Any advice?
Great to find an older video on this. I'm still using CS6, so a lot of the new tools are no good to me!

Thank you very much; it was very helpful.
Thanks so much helps me a lot!! Subbed! :D
perfect tutorial
Good Tut Bro!
Thanks!
Thank you for the amazing tutorial, but I have a question, do all the lines made by Blob tool need to be connected?
and yes, when he says he flips his pen tool upside down for the eraser, he is talking about the tablet's pen that he is holding in his hand. ;)

I would not exactly try out that thing in Paint.
Can it be that I have an earlier verion of it?
