Hi! I just made it and I can’t wait to try it tomorrow! I made the cheesecake batter and divided it into two bowls. Then I added my Ube extract and Ube Himalaya to one bowl. Then added the Ube filling with the other batter to make it a swirl when it bakes. Looks so pretty and can’t wait to try it!
@@cookingwithkurt it turned out very pretty! The swirl of purple and white is so pretty. The only thing is that the crust was stuck to the pan. so I might have pressed it down too hard and maybe I need to precook the crust. Do you have any suggestions on that? Also the Ube taste wasent really strong enough sadly. I put the exact amounts in the recipe but i never really tasted the Ube. It was a very good recipe for normal cheesecake tho. Maybe the extract I use was not good? I’m not sure.
@@britneyngo8776 For the crust, the “trick” is to pat it down just enough so the crumbs stick together, but not too firmly so the crust doesn’t become hard and stuck to the pan. For a stronger ube flavor, you can add more ube extract, but this might affect the color as well. I use McCormick brand ube extract. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi Tinh - thanks for your comment! Glad you like the ube cheesecake recipe. I bought my ube extract and ube halaya from a Filipino store here in NYC called Fil-Am. Hope this helps! :)
Hello - thanks for your comment! Glad you like our recipe video. Please let us know how your ube cheesecake turns out. We use whichever brand of ube halaya is available at the Filipino grocery store at the time, which changes. Hope this helps! :)
Hi Kurt! I just wanna know, since I dont have Ube Halaya, can I use Ube Flavour instead? That being said, may I know how many tbsp do I need to add, then? Thank you in advance for the reply 😊😊
Hello - if ube halaya is not available, you can leave it out and just rely on the ube extract for the ube flavor in the cake - the majority of the ube flavor in this cake comes from the concentrated ube flavor in the ube extract. Ube powder can be used as a substitute for ube halaya if ube halaya is not available - by reconstituting the ube powder in hot water (per packet instructions) making a paste, and adding 1/4 a cup of that paste to the cheesecake batter just like with the ube halaya. Hope this helps! :)
Hello! If I wanted to split this recipe into two 4inch spring foam pans and still cook it with a water bath how long would I cook it for and leave it in the oven to rest for ?
Hello - I’ve never personally tried that so I’m not sure. The waterbath method may not be ideal for 4 inch spring form pans as the pans + batter may not be heavy enough to be weighed down and may float in the water. Mini cheesecakes are probably fine without a water bath. Hope this helps! 😊
@@cookingwithkurt thank you so much! I’ve tried this recipes once and it’s amazing ! Just wished I could make smaller batches. I’ll try it without a water bath and see how it goes thank you!
Hi Chad - if ube extract is not available, you can either leave it out (will not affect the cheesecake's' texture). Or substitute using vanilla extract. The cake won't have as strong an ube flavor since most of the ube flavor comes from the ube extract. But it will still be delicious with a subtle ube flavor from the ube halaya. Unfortunately, in my experience, ube extract is the only thing that creates that strong ube flavor, without affecting the light and airy texture of the cheesecake. Adding too much ube halaya would make the cheesecake a lot heavier. Hope this helps! :)
Hi Randy - ube extract and ube halaya may be found in Filipino or Asian grocery stores, but I'm not familiar with availability in SC. They can also be purchased for delivery online. Hope this helps! :)
Hello -- I want to make this but my oven is small. I will just halve this recipe, too. Question is, is this possible to bake without using a water bath? Thank you.
Hi April - yes, you can bake this without a water bath using the same baking time and temperature. The water bath is there to help avoid cracks on the top of the cake, and create a flat and smooth top surface. But the cake can be baked without it. Hope this helps! :)
Hi both, I’m very grateful for this video. I’m new to baking so this is the recipe I’m starting out with. So I made this cake yesterday and left it in the fridge to chill. However when I cut a slide, the middle was a bit undercooked, not sure if it’s my oven not generating enough heat, but I followed the instructions so not sure what I did wrong. Also the top of the cake ended up a bit brown instead of the luscious purple. Any advice would be appreciated
Hi Kogeta - thanks for your comment. Sorry to hear about the troubles with your cheesecake. Unfortunately it’s difficult for me to know what happened without seeing what you did. I’d suggest baking it for a longer time in the water bath with a lower oven temperature. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi Angelica - I haven't personally tried making mini cheesecakes with this recipe, and it depends on the size of your mini molds. But I'd suggest trying to bake them at 350 F for about 20 minutes, until the center is just slightly jiggly (I'm guessing no water bath, as they would not be heavy enough). Hope this helps! :)

Ube and Cheesecake! My two favorite things combined in one! It looks so delicious! I hope I could try this soon uwu Edit: you have your sheet pan for almost 8 decades? Woahhh
Hi Ashleigh - unfortunately I haven’t tried using egg substitutes in cheesecakes. You can try not adding any eggs, which means you won’t have to bake the cheesecake filling. Just bake the crust part for 20 minutes at 350 F, let crust cool, then add the cheesecake filling and let the cheesecake firm up in the fridge. It just might not have the same firm consistency where slices can be picked up neatly. Hope this helps! 😊
Do you think we could up the ube halaya to 1/2 cup without it affecting how the cheesecake will set? I don't like to use too much extract and am making my halaya from scratch so i would love to use it up 😅
@@cookingwithkurt thankyou so much kurt! Complete oversight! That explains why the middle part was undercooked in my other comment, nonetheless without the flour, still tasted amazing! Also what is your advice about coconut cream vs coconut milk for whipping? Also is there a technique for extracting the cream part?
Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. He died for the people that you hate, the people that are neglected daily, the people that are abusing drugs, murderers, thieves, homosexuals, people that cheat on their partners, people that falsely accuse others, and more. He died knowing that most will reject Him, but He still gave His blood for those people too. Jesus is the only way to heaven. Anything else is a deception. The same man that was nailed to a cross, with a crown of thorns forced onto His head, after being terribly wipped, was thinking of you. With Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, He finished all the religious works. Our works can no longer get ourselves into heaven. It is all by Jesus' grace and mercy, which we can all receive. If you humble yourselve before the living God and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, you will be saved from hell.

Hello - we haven’t personally tried that so we’re not sure of the specific time. Split into two, it will need less time.
@@cookingwithkurtThank you. You guys are amazing! This recipe I've done 3x already and everyone loved it! Just wanted to share to some families thats why I was thinking of small batches. Thank you!
I want to make mini cheese cake with this recipe but I’m not sure how it’ll be with the temperature and how long it should be in the over for. Pls help 😇
@@cookingwithkurt ill give this a try, thank you so much kurt!
how much serving will this make, 6 or 8 people?
It will make at least 12 slices. Hope this helps! 😊
Hi! Can I bake 2 ube cheesecakes at a time? How long do you think I could do it? ☺️ thank youu
Hello - if your oven is big enough, it should take the same amount of time. Hope this helps! 😊
thank you so much! @@cookingwithkurt
Can I bake this in a square pan instead of a springform pan and just submerge it in a bigger pan with boiling water?
Hello - yes, this cheesecake and definitely be made in a square pan. Hope this helps! 😊

Edit: you have your sheet pan for almost 8 decades? Woahhh
Hello - thanks for your comment! Ube and cheesecake are two of our favorites also 😄 Please let us know how your ube cheesecake turns out!
Can the eggs be substituted? 🤔 New to egg allergy with my little one.
I don't like to use too much extract and am making my halaya from scratch so i would love to use it up 😅
You may make any changes you like, any adjustments you see fit to make the cheesecake more enjoyable for you :)
Is there any reason flour isn’t added to this recipe as you have used this in your other ube cheesecake video.
2 tbsp of AP flour are added in this recipe, at the 2:48 mark in the video. Hope this helps! 😊
Hi Kurt! What brand of Ube Halaya did you utilize? Tropics has a cancer & reproductive warning label I'd prefer to stay away from. Any suggestions?
Hi Ismael - here’s the link to the ube halaya we use: amzn.to/3Nwd3qz
@@cookingwithkurt thank you Kurt!
U mean to tell me no one made this?
I don’t know how y’all so thin making desserts like this.
If you humble yourselve before the living God and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, you will be saved from hell.
can i skip the water bath? i don’t have a tray big enough that’s more than half an inch deep
