The city is threatening to remove orange tents that have been donated by a business owner to Chicago's unhoused population. FULL STORY: abc7.ws/3Nasww4
“I don’t know if it’s promoting living in the streets.” 🤦♀️ yes Ma’am. Some tents on a hard concrete sidewalk is promoting homelessness. Because what else would otherwise housed people want other than to live in a tent. That’s the dream. So appealing. I’m sure the folks in the tents are thinking “if only I could stay here in this luxurious tent forever.”
better looking than those tents you see everywhere else. If you aren't going to spend money to help homelessness then might as well let this guy do this
They are spending money to help the homeless just like they said in the story. Only the city is spending money to move them into housing, not on helping them to continue to live on the street. The problem is that too many of the homeless would prefer to live in these tents on the street, instead of dealing with the responsibility of maintaining a home.

What's sad is that this should not even have to be. Why can they not open out the vacant schools for the homeless like they did for the undocumented immigrants. I'm not saying do not help them. I'm saying that if we have resources for that, why can we not do it for our own people? Please enlighten me.
They wont go, what you are describing is exactly what the city shelters offer. Half the shelters here in CA lay empty because you cant get high there so people would rather stay in tents. You gotta stop thinking of the homeless as rational decision makers, vast majority have mental health issues or/and are addicts. And legally you cant force them into shelters
Every city is going to have to make a legal place for homeless to camp, and then enforce illegal camping ordinances elsewhere. These sanctioned areas need on site supervision, services, waste removal, restrooms, and intervention with those unable to make informed decisions to behave safely.
This guy is AMAZING. And if anyone thinks that there are enough homeless shelters for all the homeless there, they are on crack. This man is using money out of his own pocket to do a service to the community. Mostly the homeless, but to the entire community as well. Just look at what he set up. I've seen homeless encampments, but none of them looking like this. Of course the city, and the mayor, and the city council, will probably try to shut him down. Which just goes to show what kind of people they are in their hearts, and that they in fact don't care about the homeless population. I hope one of their relatives never become homeless due to any circumstance. Because if they can't get into a shelter, they won't even have a warm tent to go into, will they? And believe me, no one is untouchable when it comes to drugs, or other unplanned hardships. This man has decency. Something a lot of the comments here don't reflect.
Only thing I want to correct in your statement is that. it doesn't just show how much they care for homeless, it shows how much they would care about people in general
Well think about it. You pay to live and you pay to die. You never have freedom in a sense even in today's society where prices rocket sky high meanwhile still recovering from "COVID" so why should anyone have to pay to live and pay to die?
I sincerely and deeply hope God tremendously bless the man who provided those tents to the homeless. I mean that with all my heart. He deserves everything good ever coming to him. Karma and God is going to treat him exceedingly well
Karma is a Hindu demonic teaching, but God will bless him. U right on that. Whether u do good or bad, it makes no difference bad can and will still happen to u. Vice versa for good too. Chicago says "We have Programs." Yeah programs that have been proven to NOT work in a meaningful way, and are laden with unnecessary or cumbersome conditions. If people REALLY wanted to solve the homeless problem, they'd send out UBI, that way people could get themselves off the street. But since you don't wanna do that, the next best thing is to make Campgrounds with Public Transport, so people can get a foundation under them. You'll find, that once you stop treating people as "Hopeless", they'll stop seeing themselves that way, and actually start moving forward.
EVERYONE THAT WISHES THEY COULD HELP that is pissed about this would take ONE MOMENT TO EMAIL CALL TWEET OR POST ON FACEBOOK TO THE CITY OF CHICAGO. YOU WILL HAVE DONE MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE. ALSO WHILE YOU ARE AT IT DEMAND MORE SHELTERS.
Those tents look great but should be organized in parklike areas....other cities should adopt similar strategies.....give these tentpeople a sense of pride and community and keep area clean and crime free.
The city wants to clean the area, and are telling these people to move the tents during cleaning and they can return after cleaning, read the full story link above, here is the quote, "Full Statement from the City of Chicago These notices are to relay to owners of the property that there will be a cleaning on the noted date. It is important to note that no resident is being relocated as part of this project. Once our partners at the Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) conduct the maintenance and cleaning necessary for this location, individuals can return to their location with their property. These notices are posted at least 7 days in advance, and DFSS engages with residents at encampments in the days leading up to cleanings to connect individuals with shelter, housing, and other services."
Right connect them to various places that have little to no shelter, don't have enough money to keep them running properly etc etc. Look alot of you have a good heart and I see that although you are definitely naive af to think that your local shelter has anything to offer besides (sorry we're full because we do lotteries). I tell you from experience, there is little to no help for those who seem to have lost it all including their minds. I lost myself let myself become homeless because I had nothing. I unlike many who may not be able to pulled myself up and out of that mess. Again NOT MANY HAVE THAT STRENGTH and having people that are too naive or not helpful at all doesn't help at all.
@@AhJodie I'm just tired of hearing how there's always something out there. Which sometimes there is though they are limited in what they offer for help not to mention there's still those who abuse the system homeless and the workers.

Remove the tents but the people will be out there cold. This is cruel it’s clean out there leave the people alone. It should be a switch up with the immigrants they should be in tents in homeless should be in hotel because they are citizens and immigrants should went to tents. This is sad. Only country that leave their own in the cold outside to house non citizens.
So let me get this straight. They're sending migrants to $100/night hotels in the suburbs, but telling homeless Americans they can't live in tents? Incredible. Disgusting behavior.
Damn that's actually a huge improvement it actually looks 100% better then individual tents and they want to remove it because it looks great I'm actually confused

Chicago is the most selfish and money hungry cities there is. These people who want to take these tents need to feel what it's like for their families to be in the street with nothing. This city has no empty for anything but the almighty dollar bill. I wouldn't vote for the this mayor as the next dog catcher. Anybody has to be better than her as she and her current officials live in the lap of luxury, compared to these people. You warm every night, you can bathe and have regular meals. You want to take the only home They have, but you don't come with a solution. Only destruction. You all, including the mayor and her family, need a good comeuppance. They've forgotten, that by the grace of God, you could be walking in their shoes.
Every time someone comes up with housing for the homeless the city of chicago wants to tear it down, they had a small house that could sleep two in bunk beds thats it no more room with heat, what happened the city dismantle them all, anything to help the homeless chicago ain't having it!
Most homeless need rehab. It's a sad situation but it is what it is. The situation won't fix itself it will only get worse. All the money being wasted on tents and throwing away tents and bs should be spent on rehab programs that work.
It's a great idea. However the people who live in those tents don't typically keep the areas around them clean. The litter attracts rodents. Drug activity makes its way in. And the next thing you know it's in squalor and a danger zone.
I hope that guy and those residents get a really good lawyer that sues the backside of that city that's absolutely ridiculous and it's not the first story like that I've heard today. If you are so good at rehoming they would already be rehomed and then problems are very complex and nobody facilitates living on the streets that's ridiculous. May justice be done for the tent dwellers. It would be good to see what would happen if the people instituting those regulations were actually made homeless and then have someone clear why all their belongings and space from them especially in the winter.
Those tents looked super nice and everyone there was keeping the surrounding area clean. It is much better than the hodge podge of make shift tents everywhere else.
Unpleasant as it may seem, death from exposure is much more unpleasant for these people. They do not choose to be homeless, they just are. What happened to the 'right to life'? The city rules against this while they sit in their warm houses, looking down on those less fortunate. Do something to help them, instead of thinking of ways to inconvenience them.
Imagine spending 35 million dollars to help 1800 people. Democrats are real good at wasting money with questionable outcomes. I've seen how these programs spend their money. Better oversight is needed. More accountability is needed as well. Our governments answer? Send more money to Ukraine. 😳
This should be a ge place for some Auditors to show up and identify who these heartless city workers. Expose their backgrounds and evil miserable lives and reasons for harassing these unfortunate souls in a time of crisis.

Wow! Those tents look really nice. And the area looks very clean. I don’t see the problem.
They should remove the gangs and other trash, not homeless
That’s right!!!!! You said it!
Right 👏🏽
God bless the sir.❤️💯💯💯
Greetings Everyone Blessed morning thank you for helping and blessing the homeless. 🙏Maybe he should buy a building for the homeless so they can have shelter. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
This man keeps his huge heart, in the back of a pickup.
If anything those tens makes the streets look more nicer I mean look at LA there homeless people have their belongings everywhere
Every city is going to have to make a legal place for homeless to camp, and then enforce illegal camping ordinances elsewhere. These sanctioned areas need on site supervision, services, waste removal, restrooms, and intervention with those unable to make informed decisions to behave safely.
Smh. The City is criminalizing the poor, homeless, and the people that help the poor.
What's crazy, some folks prefer to be homeless and prey on the kindness of others. All because they dnt want to pay to live.
Well think about it. You pay to live and you pay to die. You never have freedom in a sense even in today's society where prices rocket sky high meanwhile still recovering from "COVID" so why should anyone have to pay to live and pay to die?
Bless that man 🙏🏽💪🏽💯 he just trying to help
I sincerely and deeply hope God tremendously bless the man who provided those tents to the homeless. I mean that with all my heart. He deserves everything good ever coming to him. Karma and God is going to treat him exceedingly well
Karma is a Hindu demonic teaching, but God will bless him. U right on that. Whether u do good or bad, it makes no difference bad can and will still happen to u. Vice versa for good too. Look at the people who rule the world, wicked pedophiles but they are blessed with riches. Their punishment waits for them on the other side.
@V Martin sons and daughters always pay for their parents sins
The city would rather it look like LA or Kinsingston. This is a great thing for these homeless people 👏🏾
- --- >> Leave these poor people alone and let them enjoy their new little shelters !! ... My god !!! - -- What if that were YOU out there in the rain and cold !!!! - - It looks a LOT better and there is ALWAYS going to be homeless people.....the way America is going and has always been....- our government mostly ALWAYS caters to the filthy rich .....males me sick .....= LET THESE PEOPLE BE happy for a change ....what little comfort and love they get ! - --- How DARE YOU CHICAGO !!!!!!!! -----
Thank you Andy for donating those tents they are very nice and looked very nice I could actually use one myself for ice fishing👻💯🙌✅💥
Chicago says "We have Programs."
Yeah programs that have been proven to NOT work in a meaningful way, and are laden with unnecessary or cumbersome conditions.
I also don't think the $ goes where they say
Blessings to this Man 😇🙏
City should fix it's violence problem & leave the already unfortunate enough alone.
Chicago would prefer tarps, shopping carts, garbage and make shift tents, these are too nice for Chicago.
You're a clueless I prefer for these people to sleep out on. Lori lightfoots front yard where they belong
I would send these people to Southern California its much warmer there. San Diego Mayor will put them in a first class park near Bill Walton's house
He Deserves a medel for his service s helping the homeless stay warm
Why is it that the people that help the homeless always get shut down because the city ordinance what is wrong with society
The city wants to clean the area, and are telling these people to move the tents during cleaning and they can return after cleaning, read the full story link above, here is the quote, "Full Statement from the City of Chicago
These notices are to relay to owners of the property that there will be a cleaning on the noted date.
@@osopena3979 Thank you for speaking the truth.
@@AhJodie I'm just tired of hearing how there's always something out there. Which sometimes there is though they are limited in what they offer for help not to mention there's still those who abuse the system homeless and the workers.
I’m like the more you do the more they take , turn you’ll see them in your front yard. I’m not a bad guy but enough is enough, if you want the he’ll give to the place that’s help. It’s out of control
This is a vessel & blessing from glory & and grace goes to GOD amen🙏🙏❤️❤️
City: we care for our homeless, but not like that.
Save some room for me bc the way these property taxes are looking I’ll have a tent right there soon……
Where is the property tax refund???
They need to arrest this man! Homeless people are destroying these city’s.
This is tragic
Chicago needs to worry about fixing that nasty rusted unsafe bridge
_He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse._ - Proverbs 28:27
So I guess that does not include you since you are a woman women don't have rights in the Bible oh well sucks to be a woman I guess what I don't understand is why you are advocating for men if you're not allowed to have the same rights according to your religion not according to the law but according to your religion
Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
They have them all over the city now, you can’t go anywhere without seeing homeless. 600 years ago somebody’s head would be on a spike for this
God bless you! L:eave the tents alone chicago! People need to be SAFE!
YASSSSSSSS GAWD AMEN !!!!!!!.
Wish Philly would do this. Looks SOOOOO much cleaner
Every time someone comes up with housing for the homeless the city of chicago wants to tear it down, they had a small house that could sleep two in bunk beds thats it no more room with heat, what happened the city dismantle them all, anything to help the homeless chicago ain't having it!
city needs to take back their streets
That was very nice. The city is not helping so why can't he help.
Just like LA. Some dude was building tiny homes, for the homeless. The city was like nope, and confiscated them
God bless the two that are helping those in the tents.
We need to march to keep them during winter!!!!!
Most homeless need rehab. It's a sad situation but it is what it is.
The situation won't fix itself it will only get worse. All the money being wasted on tents and throwing away tents and bs should be spent on rehab programs that work.
Definitely getting my daughter "Inglewood Barbie" for Christmas
It's a great idea.
However the people who live in those tents don't typically keep the areas around them clean.
The litter attracts rodents.
Drug activity makes its way in.
And the next thing you know it's in squalor and a danger zone.
Lol drugs been in the nicest of suburbs just a matter of time before they crash too. That should be a worry further down the list.
We need an Audit!
Can he be mayor? Please
At least the area is clean.. unlike some areas
Andy should open up his own personal property for homeless to live in!
Do you really think if a person had an option that would choose the streets? God bless these people. For lending a hand to a person in a time of need.
Ummm....many reports saying they do choose that.
Those tents looked super nice and everyone there was keeping the surrounding area clean. It is much better than the hodge podge of make shift tents everywhere else.
The homeless need to go to the police station and say, No speak Englis , they will get help then.
Idk. When i was homeless, if i had been taken care of in any sort of way I probably never would of changed.
It's a difference between coddling somebody and not letting somebody literally freeze to death, tf are you talking about???
That looks nice. Somebody's family is out there.
That’s just sick and the city don’t actually help the ppl
Stop giving homeless people tents. We have shelters for a reason. Work on repairing the shelter system.
God may u bless him for THE GOOD DEEDS HE IS DOING IN CHICAGO 💪🏽🥳🙌🏽 Blessing
You know how that goes. IF THE CITY CANT MAKE MONEY OFF OF IT, IT HAS TO GO.. SMDH.
I agree they can spend that $$ on empty lots in Chicago there are plenty.
Yup Democrats were for the people, orange man bad. That’s the whole election platform
Where's Mayor Lori Lightfoot? Oh that's right no kick back ! Cash in her pockets!!
This should be a ge place for some Auditors to show up and identify who these heartless city workers.
Expose their backgrounds and evil miserable lives and reasons for harassing these unfortunate souls in a time of crisis.
..it looks a lot better then other parts of the city..these look nice ..go to chicago avenue by kedzie and sacremento..garbage everywhere..junk..it look horrible compared to this .
..where is that..?.it looks like clyborne and armitage/fullerton area..
This is literally a temporary way to provide housing for themselves. It’s not like in California where a homeless man literally built a shack on the sidewalk. Hey Lightfoot, you and that council could have EASILY gave these people that land you gave to The Chicago Fire for temporary use until permanent housing could be arranged. Lightfoot, you’re done. Lightfoot needs to pack her bags and get out! And BRAVO AND BLESS THESE TWO HEROS FOR STEPPING UP. ❤
No not in the city take it to a place where they are not blocking sidewalks and are away from people with kids.
It is everywhere, cooking rats on a grill. They should be removed.
1:38 She’s never faced a single day of adversity In her life 😂
Gotta give him to the migrants
They mad they can’t profit from it an put taxes on the tents that’s literally saving lives..Hope they put them tents on Chicago an Pulaski
