Futuro Homes were created by Matti Suuronen in 1968 as a concept for a portable ski chalet. Today, it is believed that there are less than 100 left in the world. This video features a Futuro Home turned into a young family's home and business! After the birth of his son in 2019, Ronald was inspired to build a unique space-themed Airbnb in Joshua Tree, California, as a legacy and future business for his child. He began searching the internet for Futuro Homes. He shares his story of obtaining and building the Area 55 Futuro House, which is now one of the most popular and unique Airbnbs in the USA.

We live in the neighborhood. Have driven by the "flying saucer" dozens of times. It's great to finally see the inside and the property and the charming guy that created it.
I lived In Chandler for 8yrs and drove out there a few times but never saw this. It looks so cool!!!

I want to sit down and have a conversation with this man. He is absolutely fascinating and his vision is unstoppable. If the drought ever clears up, I will seriously consider booking into any properties he has available.

Wow, we have seven Futuro houses just in our local area (mideast-Canterbury, New Zealand). If there are only 60-ish surviving then we must be the world capital of the Futuro house -- I never knew they were so rare. Very interesting video!
Apparently they had them on display at the main gates for the 1974 commonwealth games in Christchurch. 🛸

Back in the 1970s, there was one of these in the town I went to high school, WI, and I had to go in it. My friend was very embarrassed, but we went inside. It is cool to see one that survived! Oddly, it was set up a lot the same way, and I thought it was boring, but, it would be fun to stay in it where it is now. This guy is a genius!
The idea of the separate bathroom in all its modernity is really excellent. I absolutely adore the cut-out window coverings, I love the way the light shines around them letting a little light in

LOL!!! There is one of these structures in Royse City, Texas that I had forgotten about. I first saw it around 40 years ago. Just Googled it and found out that two young men cleaned it up and gave it a coat of orange paint. It would be so cool if someone would do something like this with it. Great job and great idea!

Does the Air B&B experience with this place include hanging with this guy? Cuz I bet sharing a weekend of this guy's life when he's "on" and doing his positive uplifting passionate personality thing whatever you'd call it I bet that's really what sells this as much if not more than the UFO house itself. If he and his wife dressed up in matching MiB black suits that would be crazy good too. The space could use a "locked" TARDIS made out of materials that could weather extremes.
Very cool! It's super fun but still but tastefully designed. The owner is really cool and down to earth....you can tell he'd be fun to hang out with. Love it!

Eloquently explained process and how it all ties together. Definately one of the better AirBnB's I have seen. All details appear to have been thought out very well.
It would be cool to see a second one off in the distance. Mabey change the motif a bit, so they are not both cookie cutter copies.

I saw an aqua blue one in London. Fell absolutely in love. I want to make one my permanent home. If not, I guess I'll just have to construct my own. Or call home and ask my senior parental unit to send me an abyssal sub. Whichever is cheaper...or be like the corviki and live in an liquid ammonia filled bag! I'm not too fussy.
