Awesome!! Btw, I love that jazzmaster’s tone. Do you remember what string type&gauge? I have a p90 solidbody that I’d love to hear singing like that.
@@miguelajanel4695 they are 10s :))
@@miguelajanel4695 and always ernie ball, I've been an Ernie artist for many years
I’ve got Parkinson’s and a lot of days I have to make myself play. Thank you for making this not one of those days.
Man, dat intro is a lesson in phrasing by it self... just amazing. Thank you for coming back with these jazz blues tracks, I love these sooo much. Can't wait to get back home and jam all day with my new saxophone. :)
+Sami Leponiemi Thanks very much.. SO great to hear Sami! Have fun!!!!
Bro just legit shows you how it’s supposed to sound and then you’re on your own.
Jazzy, bluesy tunes always welcome. 🎷🎶
damn that intro solo was so tight my dude
oh yeah totally jamming with my rudimentary licks on C!
Nice stuff! Guitarists as good as this young man have to make a living. Worth the $, if his intro is something you want to crack. Play on brother!
Perfect jam for jamming on harmonicas today and every day. Thanks so much for doing all you do, it's a great help and so much better than the local, lame biker bar open mic here :)
Excellent
And thanks for adding the Arpeggios
Thank you Thank you
+Grampz stillkickin My pleasure - I always think of you when adding the arpeggios! It makes sense to do... so thanks for requesting!
Holy shit, I can play this? I didn't know could! guess listening to so much jazz somehow trains your ear before even starting.
Getting serious on that intro+++++!
Awesome. You're nailing it.
Perfect!!!!! Thanks.

Whatever instrument it’s great. Even if it’s flatulence
Nice backing track.

Actually not bad on Alto. Upped the tempo a little, and didn't realize it was in the key of C but, after figuring it all out, not bad.
Nice tone Quist!

Nice Playing!

Hello Quist. could you make a video about improvisation and how to not looking boring. how to make variations in the improvisation ? how to alternate soloing, chords, riffle ?? thanks for your answer; Keep it up the good work man.
1:01 start of backing track
Excellently!!!

+Diego Cavalli I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out blues jam tracks try Jadonite Guitar Blues Buddy (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cousin got excellent results with it.
Quist is there any way you can do a lesson I love jazz and the way you play just makes me shiver it's incredible
+Will Peters-Seymour thanks man, so great to hear!! Not really planning lessons at the moment... but maybe at some point!!
dont worry about it i can learn your jams by earn and figure something out
thanks bro - there are many of my jazz solo transcriptions up now on www.patreon.com/quistjam in case you wanna dig in that way!
You sound gay
Best way to learn jazz is to first learn basic scales and chords. Major scale and blues. That’s it. After that listen EVERY DAY to the classic jazz guitarists from the 50s and 60s and try to emulate them. It’s like learning a language. Memorizing licks and learning technical stuff will make things worse and confusing. Keep it simple. That’s how the old legends learned it before the invention of the internet.
Since everyone is wondering I like to put E melodic minor over the A7 and C melodic minor over the G7. Also E half diminished over the Gm7 is hip too.
Commenting for later

Mr.Quist 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What scale were you playing the first 5 seconds? Best backing tracks here. Thanks for the vids!
So cool Daddy-O
whats a good scale to play over the F to F# diminished?
How about you play for the entire track and leave a couple of 12 bars at the end for me to improvise 🤣
Try B Flat Maj 7 over the C.
+Pete TheMan Add a #11 for some real crazy sounds
I have spent months researching into blues jam tracks templates and found a great resource at Makale Jam Plan (check it out on google)
Try A7, Emaj7#5 and Gb7 over C ;)
It's time to get serious.
There is nothing special about these 2. The diatonic scale used over a V7 is mixolydean and the one before being the 4th scale is lydian which is Bb maj 7 ALSO with the #11. If you play that scale over C youre implying F major sounds and your solo will sound diatonic.
Does anyone know what that not-quite-quote starting at 0:30 is? I know it's really similar to something by maybe Wes Montgomery, but I just can't place/find it. Anyone? Thanks!
I love your backing tracks, but in the description there are some mistakes about the scales. Am I wrong?
+Vincenzo Toro (Root) No, you were right - thank you so much for letting me know. I copy/pasted some of the info from one of my Bb blues tracks and didn't have time to finish it till I came back from a LONG night out yesterday.. oooops!! All corrected now.. but let me know if you see anything else wrong!? Still got a fuzzy head!! HAHA. Thanks very much !!!
+QuistJam Don't worry, your work is always incredible. And yes, now it's all perfect :)
+Vincenzo Toro (Root) Being drunk from a night out and writing about scales is not a great combo. Haaaaa #lessonlearned
+QuistJam Ahahahah I wanna try it :')
+Vincenzo Toro (Root) hahahaa
what scales is this guy using? What should I look into if I want to learn this kind of playing?
If playing a minor blues sounds jazzy because it's the relative minor of c
Is this right? Chords by themselves get four quarter notes. If there are two together, they get two quarters apiece and the last phrase has all chords getting only a quarter beat. ¿Es correcto o no?
That last group is a 1625 turn around right.. I'm sure of that.

Yeeeah!

Man you are fucking great at 🎸
Is this the same chord progression from Oscar Peterson C Jam Blues?
pretty standard blues I - VI - II - V
D is the 5th mode of the harmonic minor over A7 ??
Great backing track for students to use. To be honest, the 1-minute prelude is kind of annoying in an otherwise useful track.
Wow, criticizing a free practice video.
@@davidperezbabich You're either trying to help or you're not trying to help. This isn't framed as amateur work...professionals should pay each other the courtesy of being honest.
@@ivorytickler7777 then don’t use it. He can do his free videos for you however he wants. His concept is to do a solo, make the tab available. Why not take .5 seconds to skip it if you want. People are so entitled now that they can’t even move their finger 4 mm to skip the solo without complaining.
@ I stand by what I said. It wasn't mean-spirited and it wasn't rudely stated. If you have a problem with that then that's too bad for you. I wrote this 7 years ago and, as you point out, I DON'T use this track now. A bit of feedback might have helped future tracks to be more usable for students. If you are afraid of honest feedback then you have unresolved trauma. I leave it there. Good-bye.
@@ivorytickler7777 personally attacking someone about childhood trauma while having need to defend a comment you made 7 years ago 😂.
what key is this in???????
C
124th
I don't understand the chord progression.
What I am supposed to do with the second and the third line ?
I F7 I F#dim7 I C7 I A7 I
I Dm7 I G7 I C7 A7 I Dm7 G7 :II
I don't hear this nowhere. Someone help me please, I'm try to get a grasp on it
Thank you
Acid God. This is a jazz 12 bar. You can think of it as a normal 12 bar with substitutions. In bar 6 the F#dim7
is actually an F7 with a b9. The next C7 is a standard blues change. The A7 is the dominant of the Dm7 in bar 9.
In a basic blues progression bars 9 and 10 would be G7 to F7 (V7 to IV7); in a jazz 12 this is replaced by
Dm7 to G7 (iim7 to V7). The turnaround repeats bars 7- 10 but doubles the harmonic rhythm.
This style gets a lot of its forward motion from the cycle of fifths in the root note of the chords. Can I refer you to my book
"The Secret Life of Chords" which is available on line.
You can play the blues scale (include the b5) over this progression. The next step is to include chord tones focusing on the third and
seventh. Of course, it can get more sophisticated than this. Stick with it, it's not easy at first. And...listen to Wes Montgomery.
I play in Am cus I'm a rock guitarist who never learned the Major scale. Roast me.
how about i rather praise you for improvising? it's a start, and many don't even try at that ;) take a look at the caged system and it'll become easier to go over chords
your sneaky
It's time to get serious!!
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else needs to find out about blues jam track try Jadonite Guitar Blues Buddy ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my brother in law got cool results with it.
Playing a bluesy Fmaj is the way to go here not C
That's not a backing track
Hmmm, pretty sure it is my friend!

Thanks. You can always click the link to the time point where the play-along starts (it’s usually in the first part of the video description of my jams). Have fun!!
