I know this comment section makes me feel like im taking crazy pills. Why is everyone acting like the muppets arent a dead property. the brand has not had a successful movie or show since the 90s
Yes! This a hundred times. Literally everyone I know says they've stopped watching Marvel movies because they can't be bothered to keep up with the storylines. I would love to enjoy a Marvel movie occasionally, but I can't stand my kids asking me every ten seconds who everyone is.
So, instead of making movies as emotionally resonant as the first three phases were again, your idea is to have a character most people don't know about dictate the plot of the movies and tv shows people didn't want to watch in the first place to them? And you think that would work?
Armor wars could’ve been a great tv show, they just missed the time frame for it. Having it set and released around the time of the falcon and the winter soldier would’ve been perfect. Countries around the world are in chaos and all scrambling to become the next superpower through iron man tech. It even fits with the time frame set from Ironman 2
I definitely agree with that they shouldn't force a cinematic universe. Marvel comics worked well in the 60's because they were connected, but you could enjoy them by themselves. The only time they should crossover in a big way is the Avengers.
Completely agree with all of these, especially making more small connections. My favorite MCU moments are when the universe feels organic (like No Way Home's Statue of Liberty being in The Marvels)
You have an incredible ability to make genuine and compelling suggestions on movie making in a way that never seems condescending or make you come off as a snobby critic. A truly rare gift.
Doctor Strange and the Muppetverse of Madness NEEDS to happen. Make it an 8 episode series that makes fun of all of phases 1-3. One of the best movie pitches I’ve ever heard, definitely needs to be made
As someone who actually got to work a bit on armour wars, tbh I’m fine with it being cancelled. Cheadle and marvel actually contributed quite a bit too fixing up a couple buildings in my city just to shoot in it.
I don’t know that the MCU’s issues are overstated. Everyone I know who used to see every movie in theaters opening week has stopped. Maybe they watch on Disney+, but most just don’t watch the MCU at all. For a cinematic universe it’s much harder to get fans (and bring them back) the bigger you are…
Yeah, for awhile I have been just watching the films on Disney Plus or get the Blu-rays. It's really because I recently got back to the theaters but still don't have the time or cash to do it a lot.
I have been going to movies in general a lot less than I used to. I still see every MCU in theaters with exception of Black Widow, because that was the height of the pandemic at the time. And when I go see a movie, it’s usually only once. I just don’t have the cash to spend that much money on movies right now. I do buy everything on Blu-ray though.
I want armor wars though cause we need to find out exactly when rhode was switched with a scroll also it's rumored riri Williams ironnheart will also be in it
The second point he made about the names of movies is such a phenomenal point! That’s why it’s genius for “Deadpool 3” to be called “Deadpool & Wolverine”
Instead of more Avengers films, Marvel should just give the spotlight to other super hero teams, like the Fantastic Four. Rather than an Avengers film, Secret Wars should be the third (or fourth) movie of F4 franchise.
I think my main gripe for phase 4 was that it just felt so sporadic and had much more content with all the TV shows aswell. While I get what they are going for with the Disney+ shows, I think they just need to use those for a separate "universe within a universe" like with the Defenders shows. It seems like they are doing that with Spotlight.
Big missed opportunity to end Phase 4 with Fantastic Four or even Thunderbolts (since Val was showing up in Phase 4, it would’ve been cool to end the phase with a sort-of anti-Avengers movie).
Hot take: MCU should never have made Infinity War in the first ten years. It took decades of comics to lead up to that. They wasted Thanos as they expend all their villains too soon. They could’ve led up to Civil War instead or even waited on that event too. They keep rushing to do their biggest crossover events. Now they’re leading up to secret wars, trying to go bigger then endgame. The multiverse should be infinite but it feels claustrophobic and small. And how will they get bigger than and outdo that?
I do love that "Armor Wars" premise, but, of course, I don't see how you get Pepper back at this point. Gwyneth Paltrow was friends with RDJ and enjoyed working with him, but the MCU is just not her cup of tea. Maybe, if you wrote her some monstrously large check, you could entice her back, but she'd just be going through the motions, and it doesn't feel like that would be worth it.
They could retool/redirect Armor Wars, Wasp, Ant-Man, Young Avengers and She-Hulk to a mash-up of old and new West Coast Avengers. That would connect so many things.
I think your Muppet idea is fun but it might be received better if it was a remake of either the original Avengers or Infinity War/Endgame - doesn't do anything to deal with newer characters but might help to reinvigorate the fanbase.
1. Stop it with the forced DEI and let it happen organically. 2. Let male characters shine as well as female. Have them work together instead of kicking the men down. 3. Hire some decent writers & directors that actually have a knowledge and passion for what they’re working on! 4. Fire Bob Iger & Michael Waldron 5. Focus on the OG characters that are left (Hawkeye, Fury, Hulk, Thor, Loki, Bucky, War Machine) 6. Connect these new movies and shows already! The ‘connected’ multiverse feels so disconnected!
I STRONGLY doubt MCU gave creatives freedom on Phase 4. Put a tinfoil hat on me, but smells like a lie. Eternals and even L&T felt so off the mark precisely because they're overly safe, if you think about it.
A Muppet/Avengers crossover is such an obvious mini-series/straight to Disney+ movie idea that it's frustrating to think why it hasn't happened yet. All of Phase 4 has been about reality warping, inter-dimensional phenomena - how has this crossover not happened yet? The MCU is weird, let's lean into that and get goofy with the Muppets!
Alternative list 1. Do something with the characters you tease. If you want to tease Hercules, use Hercules. These cameos are great, but we want more with them 2. Not everything has to be avengers, or avengers level. Separating them is fine. I know marvel has been burned from doing stuff like the defenders, but supplementing some big team up movies or shows with other teams could be very fun 3. More special presentations. They're different, and they can just as easy standalone as they can tie upcoming stuff in. 4. If something does well, follow it up. Like Moon Knight and Werewolf by night. Both are great and we have no idea when we are going to see these characters (that are now more popular because of said presentation) or stories progress 5. Take more chances. Do something different, break the mold, subvert expectations. I think it's safe to say marvel was doing it's best when they were doing NEW and groundbreaking things, and those paid off the most. There are other ways to do that. Do something different to spice it up. Again for an example, look at werewolf by night. It was fantastic and alot of that was due to how different it was compared to the rest of the MCU and how it fully embraced it.
0:17 yeah, I'm more the "The MCU is in a transitional rebuild period that's taking longer than I thought it would but hey, as long as they don't do another Iron Fist and Inhumans, I'm cool with it." Also, MOON GIRL S02 IS OUT!!!! 11:50 yes, they should cancel some projects. They did it before, as well as retool a few. Like the MCU continuity, the schedule should be flexible or else we do get movies and series that weren't ready to be released.
They want us to care about C tier characters like Scarlett witch and Falcon, but the only reason people cared about those C tier characters in the first place was because we cared so much about the A tier characters like ironman and cap. What marvel needs right now is an A tier character or team like the X-men or fantastic 4 to get people interested again, then we’ll care about the Cs
Dear Kevin F., Nando's first suggestion on connections and post-credit scenes = solid. Here's someone who has analyzed MCU content and explained why some stuff works and some stuff works less well.
Nando's rule: every project needs to set up something coming in the next two years. I can see some pushback that slowing down production makes this harder. But, if the next three years aren't planned out... maybe that's part of the problem.
The Muppets MCU movie is the crowning jewel of this video and I want it so bad. I love the set up. My only change would be to include some other mcu characters Not any more than 1 or 2 But I think Jimmy woo and or a guardian of the galaxy could be great. Maybe Thor
The issue Marvel has is they don’t have any focused main characters. The first 4 phases focused mostly on captain America and Iron man. Those were the main characters surrounded by side characters. They should find a small handful of characters to focus the entire MCU around and that’s it. They can still have side characters movies but they should be rare and spend most of their time focusing on the main characters. They could even branch out and have characters in the same universe but the themes of those movies can be completely different but they never cross with the other branches to give variety storytelling and they don’t have to worry about assigning us homework to know what’s happening in the MCU for those of us tired of “Superheroes”.
Ok, it's been 3 days since your Muppets idea has been put into the universe, and since they haven't announced it's coming, I can only assume everyone at Disney has been in a coma for the last 3 days and we need someone to go check in on them.
I'll believe Marvel is actually in trouble when an actually notable project flops like a spiderman movie or an avengers movie, not stuff like captain marvel or antman whose movies were always have been middling.
When you went on that muppets rant I thought that was a bad idea then I herd the pitch and saw the movie in my head as a special presentation and thought this could be one of the best things Disney can do ever and now I really want that like really really want it
A shared continuity is a trade-off: you pay the price of a consistent continuity for the reward of getting to do crossovers. The MCU should have frequent enough crossovers to justify their continuity; but now you have continual set-up with no payoff.
Is this video a meme? Why would we want marvel to ruin the muppets like they’re ruining everything else? Also Armor Wars is 2+ years away… why not cancel all of next years projects instead and just giving each project more time? These ideas don’t feel well thought out tbh…
I agree with all a lot of this, especially the Muppets crossover. I also think Marvel would want to make a Defenders Season Two Writing (No but seriously I thought that first Defenders rewrite was great!)
I cannot agree more, Nando. The Muppetverse of Madness is gonna live in my head for the foreseeable future. And Gonzo as Doctor Strange? Inspired! And the relationship with Wong would be identical.
Basically the problem with Marvel right now is pressure from executives at Disney forcing Feige to announce projects based only on their vague elevator pitches, so shareholders believe that the studio’s pumping out billion dollar projects like an assembly line when in reality it just doesn’t work like that.
Imo Marvel needed to involve more comic writers to help treat their scripts. Maybe promote the comic or another show that the movie is based on so there is interest outside the MCU but still in the Marvel bubble.
One property I’m surprised the MCU still haven’t utilized is Big Hero 6. The animated film made money and was well received, Disney released some series not long ago so it’s still on their mind and in the public eye. They can even age the team up and be a continuation of the animated film
Great videos, as always ! For me, they should not cancel Armor Wars, but it should be "Avengers : Armor Wars" and be also about the consequencies of the blip and maybe of other avengers mistakes, kinda their cursed legacy that Rhoodey, Falcon and the new one have to deal with. Not only carying a legacy, but facing their predecessors mistakes
You know it really will take a lot for them to make my hype come back like before. Right now im more excited about Gunns DC universe and ive always been more of a Marvel fan.
I think the original idea for Thunderbolts was precisely to make it an "anti-Avengers" movie. They originally scheduled it as Phase Four's last movie (which is something they'd normally do with an Avengers movie) and, on top of that, they even used the same font type for the logo, which is a declaration of their intentions (different story is whatever they end up pulling off). In the right hands, this movie has the potential of being a lot of fun, but I don't trust Marvel Studios anymore so...
"Captain Marvel 2: Galactic Boogaloo" was probably just an off-hand quip, but it's a low-key brilliant title. A silly title like that would've drummed up a lot of interest online and also set the tone for what the movie actually was: silly.
With connections, I really appreciated the secondary characters making appearances within multiple movies, like Coulson and Fury when they didn’t have their own projects. Don’t need the big names showing up to steal the spotlight
Marvel's problem for most movies of the past 4 years is that they have a character they want to sell you, but no script to do it with.
That and oversaturation, even if they released 10 bangers in a row I would not watch them because I’m not going to the theatre 10 times for one franchise.

Make it a What If episode
There have in fact been multiple movies with the muppets and many of them have been great actually
I know this comment section makes me feel like im taking crazy pills. Why is everyone acting like the muppets arent a dead property. the brand has not had a successful movie or show since the 90s
@@ZER000BLACKHAWK you are crazy cause you’re forgetting the well recieved and popular 2011 film
Another thing Marvel can do is to get the watcher to recap important stuff people need to know before a movie. Like he's right there. Use him
@@Nickle_Kingis the former working?
That muppet pitch will never happen but my goodness do I want it to
Armor wars could’ve been a great tv show, they just missed the time frame for it. Having it set and released around the time of the falcon and the winter soldier would’ve been perfect. Countries around the world are in chaos and all scrambling to become the next superpower through iron man tech. It even fits with the time frame set from Ironman 2
The connection part is what I am missing the most. It’s like there’s no plan anymore
I hope they actually listen to at least 1 of these. Your pitches are bangers
Obviously they dont, kevin feige and the creatives at marvel always have a blindfold on to these sorts of things
@@Andre-vt4np With how they revamped everything with Daredevil I'm hoping they're learning
@@Andre-vt4npregardless if they listen to this, well why would they, they are making changes and identifying their own problems and fixing them
Okay that Doctor Strange and the Muppets movie pitch sold me this will save the MCU
Have Bunsen turning into Hulk Beaker is hilarious and I’m here for it
I definitely agree with that they shouldn't force a cinematic universe. Marvel comics worked well in the 60's because they were connected, but you could enjoy them by themselves. The only time they should crossover in a big way is the Avengers.
If 'write the movies better' is so obvious, why aren't the movies being written better?
How are they not being written better ?
@@mutalemwananshiku4098what a weird question, they aren’t written better bc the writing hasn’t improved.
@@aperson1670 how has it not improved.?
I would pay any amount of money for an mcu Muppets crossover
Completely agree with all of these, especially making more small connections. My favorite MCU moments are when the universe feels organic (like No Way Home's Statue of Liberty being in The Marvels)
You hit the nail on the head with post credits scenes and small connections. Solid video!
I want armor wars though cause we need to find out exactly when rhode was switched with a scroll also it's rumored riri Williams ironnheart will also be in it
I am now actively upset that The Marvels was not called “Captain Marvel 2: Galactic Boogaloo”
I like the fact you open by saying the freedom gave to directors was a misstep, and then state you liked 2/3 of the examples that came from it.
man, and I thought that nothing could even come close to the idea for Mistborn Muppets for me. Please, Marvel. Listen to this man!
Marvel had a great crossover with Phineas and Ferb… so… yeah, the muppet crossover can work :-)
This is the BEST idea for a crossover I have heard.
Marvel needs to develop your muppetverse of madness idea
Man, I hate to say it--but Muppets really gets me right in the nostalgia. Best version of Christmas Carol, no notes.
I love this Muppet-verse pitch because it’s so bizarre and something that the MCU is missing.
The Muppet pitch is just perfect
The crossover is Howard the Duck and Darkwing Duck. You can add Gizmoduck and Roboduck too. It can just be where Howard is actually from!
The motherducker?
Hells yes!
1:04 "Now that doesn't mean we need to Russo up Phase Six" LOL
Muppetverse of Madness would be a spectacular Disney special
They could retool/redirect Armor Wars, Wasp, Ant-Man, Young Avengers and She-Hulk to a mash-up of old and new West Coast Avengers. That would connect so many things.
I think your Muppet idea is fun but it might be received better if it was a remake of either the original Avengers or Infinity War/Endgame - doesn't do anything to deal with newer characters but might help to reinvigorate the fanbase.
Dr. Stange and the Muppetverse of Madness is genius.
1. Stop it with the forced DEI and let it happen organically.
2. Let male characters shine as well as female. Have them work together instead of kicking the men down.
3. Hire some decent writers & directors that actually have a knowledge and passion for what they’re working on!
4. Fire Bob Iger & Michael Waldron
5. Focus on the OG characters that are left (Hawkeye, Fury, Hulk, Thor, Loki, Bucky, War Machine)
6. Connect these new movies and shows already! The ‘connected’ multiverse feels so disconnected!
I’ve been dying for a muppets avengers movie for so long I’m so glad you said this
I agree that Armor Wars shouldn't be a movie, but I want it to go back to being a Disney Plus show like it was originally supposed to be.
Miss Piggy as The Scarlet Witch, I need that!
Alternative list
1. Do something with the characters you tease. If you want to tease Hercules, use Hercules. These cameos are great, but we want more with them
2. Not everything has to be avengers, or avengers level. Separating them is fine. I know marvel has been burned from doing stuff like the defenders, but supplementing some big team up movies or shows with other teams could be very fun
3. More special presentations. They're different, and they can just as easy standalone as they can tie upcoming stuff in.
4. If something does well, follow it up. Like Moon Knight and Werewolf by night. Both are great and we have no idea when we are going to see these characters (that are now more popular because of said presentation) or stories progress
You had me at Muppet Avengers ❤
Kevin don't take any of this advice like usual 😂
That Muppet idea sounds amazing.
0:17 yeah, I'm more the "The MCU is in a transitional rebuild period that's taking longer than I thought it would but hey, as long as they don't do another Iron Fist and Inhumans, I'm cool with it."
Also, MOON GIRL S02 IS OUT!!!!
11:50 yes, they should cancel some projects. They did it before, as well as retool a few. Like the MCU continuity, the schedule should be flexible or else we do get movies and series that weren't ready to be released.
that muppets pitch can easily be a marvel spotlight thingy or whatever they do now
They want us to care about C tier characters like Scarlett witch and Falcon, but the only reason people cared about those C tier characters in the first place was because we cared so much about the A tier characters like ironman and cap.
If I could give this vid a standing ovation I would. Great ideas and that muppet idea speaks to me and is gold in my book.
they should make mini phases in phases so the continuum feels smoother and we don’t have to feel like we wait too long for films
The Muppets MCU movie is the crowning jewel of this video and I want it so bad.
I love the set up.
My only change would be to include some other mcu characters
Not any more than 1 or 2
But I think Jimmy woo and or a guardian of the galaxy could be great.
The Muppets idea is awesome
Ok, it's been 3 days since your Muppets idea has been put into the universe, and since they haven't announced it's coming, I can only assume everyone at Disney has been in a coma for the last 3 days and we need someone to go check in on them.
“This is not the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier” the shadddeeeeee I love it
I'll believe Marvel is actually in trouble when an actually notable project flops like a spiderman movie or an avengers movie, not stuff like captain marvel or antman whose movies were always have been middling.
Step one, let the writers of daredevil and agents of shield, make their own movie series, with whatever characters they want.
the muppet movie would be absurd. and i would absolutely rush to see it.
When you went on that muppets rant I thought that was a bad idea then I herd the pitch and saw the movie in my head as a special presentation and thought this could be one of the best things Disney can do ever and now I really want that like really really want it
It would be perfect on Disney+
Doctor Strange and the Muppetverse of Madness. I would watch it.
This guy said he liked The Eternals....
That's the problem right there! Bad movies like that killed the MCU
Eternals was better than most of Phases 1 and 2
A shared continuity is a trade-off: you pay the price of a consistent continuity for the reward of getting to do crossovers.
Finally! A video that doesn't run on and on! Hey Nando! You don't need to ramble on for an hour!
A main canonical marvel muphets movie ?
Yo quiero de lo que fuma este tipo
SAVE Armor Wars for when the reboot happens - having Armor Wars without an Iron Man is dumb.
I now want nothing more than for Kermit to yell to the skies “Avengers ASSEMBLEEEEEEEEEE!!!”
"Captain Marvel 2: Galactic Boogaloo" was probably just an off-hand quip, but it's a low-key brilliant title. A silly title like that would've drummed up a lot of interest online and also set the tone for what the movie actually was: silly.
I saw "Captain Marvel 3: A Christmas Carol" pitched somewhere a few years ago…
MUPPET VERSE OF MADNESS! I am in!!
Great video! I love that you got very specific with your advice and gave examples!
With connections, I really appreciated the secondary characters making appearances within multiple movies, like Coulson and Fury when they didn’t have their own projects. Don’t need the big names showing up to steal the spotlight
I'm incredibly glad you have absolutely no say in decision making.
