with some modifications to the system the ramp truck system could be used for lots of useful stuff. if the truck bed was made longer the cargo trailer could be set flat in the back. and if you use a merge block to lock it in you can be sure nothing odd happens with it. and if u take that idea you can make things like a multi role truck. with different pods each with a different purpose. like the cargo pod, or the refinery pod, or the production pod, or the camper/sleeper pod, or the drilling pod, or the antenna pod, or the power pod, or the defense pod. and so on.
*Loads* of great entries this time round so hope you folks don't mind me showing off a few of them! :) and having a bit of fun with the editing while I'm at it heh
w4stedspace I recently got a new laptop, however it only has 128MB of install space, however, that issue will soon be fixed and I have a special build in plan... (Its an A-10 Warthog) ;)
The 2nd vehicle was inspired by the General Bee. I had to make a buggy that handled better. But was not so large as the General Dee. So glad you liked the submissions and im happy it did not blow up. :)
I just wanted to say I love how informative you are. You try and give every bit of information you can about what ever it is you're doing in each video. I absolutely love it. My only criticism is I feel like you forget some things because you try to get as much information out in the time you do the video. Really not a criticism I guess :D Not sure if you write things down or not but if not, you might want to try it? It is very rare it happens so that's a plus. Anyway, REALLY well done all around! Thank you for another awesome video Commander. Captain Kiranavara of the TEMC-Hope, signing off. o7
Joshua Brown I actually worked on the M1070's while I was in Iraq in 2011-12 during OND, damn SOB's are hell when it comes to the A service. Driving the tractor though was pretty damned fun. Even more fun if you pull one w/ the trailer using a HEMTT :P
Nice, design, I really like them. I wonder would it perform the same when fully loaded with ore? I'm picturing this being brought out to a mining site while a miner quickly minds and loads up the container then, the hauler comes and brings it back to base. It's confusing sometimes where mass does and does not apply in SE.
this was amazing to watch, i have space engineers as well and would love to be apart of this or anything else coming up.how can i go about that is their a steam group? keep up the good content !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That concept is real in germany its used for many things in transport just google after it its calles Abrollcontainer go on Videos there you can see that he used the same concept but nicely done in space engineers!
I mostly just use functional mods.. but I'd certainly have a look at the Aerodynamics mod and add yourself the ability to create planes etc that actually have lift :)
Hiya pal Played Space Engineers long ago, ive just come back after a while and for the life of me i cant build a new small ship and it is pissing me off, i never ever had problems getting my head round this game before and built some pretty big designs but i must be missing something really simple because i have no idea how to build a small ship now. Any tips would be much appreciated ive even watched the official video explaining how the new placement system works but either my games bugged or im not getting it properly. Looks well 241 hours in this game and i cant even build a small ship.....wow im gobsmacked ha ha
I have never liked vehicles that have there friction turned almost all the way down. What's the point in having steering turned on if you have your friction so low and use the gyro to turn anyways. My big truck has friction and strength maxed out and it works just fine as long as your not being stupid with it. Drive it like you would drive a vehicle of that size in RL and it works just fine. To me the real test of a ground vehicle is driving through valleys, because some of those are an actual challenge for the vehicle to crawl through and not break. Either way I'm still sad that ground vehicles are over shadowed by air because of speed and easy of use for every job you can think of.
I'd agree with you if we had proper analogue control for steering and throttle.. without those driving 'like a real vehicle' feels so very clunky to me. Having to tap buttons repeatedly to do small adjustments etc and no real control over braking force. Still I'm 100% with you that wheeled vehicles should have more of a role to play regardless.. it should be more efficient as a transport method by far and it just isn't.
Yeah I still haven't started a single player survival since planets came out but I have the idea of forcing myself to only use wheeled vehicles and winged aircraft, then move into my transport helicopters. I might build the scout heli early just because it is so much fun to fly through canyons. Hmmm...just had a random idea. I have a S-64 Skycrane inspired heli with 3 different cargo pods for it, what if I build a plane that uses the same attachment system and the parachutes mod to drop then so I don't have to build a runway for the larger planes everywhere as moving the materials for the concrete mod by truck would suck and take forever as a 45km trip took me about 25min one way at 81km/h wheel speed 125ish kp/h down hills. And that on the arctic's rolling hills, if I was anywhere else it would be much longer.
Another possible idea is use a vehicle like the "hover craft" I'm working on based on your duel layer suspension system. It has the new repulsor engines on it so it and maintain altitude but can't lift, but they require a lot of power so its not something you want to turn on a lot. And while you can technically fly it with the repulsors on and ramping it, I did make the main engines rotate and use whips thruster control mod. So basically I have a vehicle that is primarily land based but can fly if you are in impassable terrain or have gobs of fuel.
Love the content @w4stedspace, you sparked my love for SE in a big way and thanks for that :) is the submission period for this competition over?? if not I'd like to throw my hat into the ring with this lil puppy steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=676212079&searchtext=bighog+
You videos are fantastically well edited.
hehe, thanks sir :) I quite enjoy that bit of the process!
I can tell and it's really appreciated. Makes your version of the survival series the most enjoyable to watch too!

The different pod idea was the main reason why i made this loading system. The merge block was my first choice but loved to blow up a lot.

that second vehicle reminds me of the general bee lol

w4stedspace hola :V
that crash looked pretty good though with the amount of debris it knocked up. It just looked right in all the right places,
xhammy I know right? Pretty realistic.
Good Luck to all that entered, looking forward to the future videos about what was made....LORD WRAITH
Cool cars. I love that sloped cargo mechanism!
This would be an awesome hauler for carrying back the results of mining. I like it.
The cargo carrier looks like a caddy for Galactus's golf clubs. :)
Your videos always have great editing, and a beautiful cinematic feel. Nice.
at last a space engineers video!!! and it was great
The first one is like a M1075 PLS, loving it :D
It was inspired by something very similar to that.
tazmania52d now we need a Oshkosh 1070 HET lol
Joshua Brown I actually worked on the M1070's while I was in Iraq in 2011-12 during OND, damn SOB's are hell when it comes to the A service. Driving the tractor though was pretty damned fun. Even more fun if you pull one w/ the trailer using a HEMTT :P
19k here, loved when the HETS showed up, we got a hour to two nap in the beds before our next range or objective.
91D. Got in when it was still the 52 series. And you gotta get sleep when you can brother :P
very nice cargo truck it works like the real container trucks that uses a hook to pull on and lock the container in place on the truck :)
Yay more Space Engineers! :D Loved the vid W4sted!
Yay, it's finally planets comp time :P
amazing build!
oooh! this is gonna be good!
he should take a look at the military army LHS ECHU vehicle. If he can recreate the mechanics of that arm movement that would be so amazing

You broke it! bad man :p Nice video.
I wander if a large ship version of the cargo transport would be practical.
this was amazing to watch, i have space engineers as well and would love to be apart of this or anything else coming up.how can i go about that is their a steam group? keep up the good content !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is the Planets competition still going on? I couldn't find any info for it on the SE community site.
That concept is real in germany its used for many things in transport just google after it its calles Abrollcontainer go on Videos there you can see that he used the same concept but nicely done in space engineers!
whats the tank video? do you have a link?
How do you make your camera work so smooth? It looks amazing!
2 years of practice, heh :)
Can we get a link back to last year's mobile base video? Can't seem to find it on your channel.
Added to the description!
Thanks. Also, awesome video. :D
I hadn't notice
Intro Music?
Cool video. I'm new to SE was wondering if you can recommend any mods which would be good for a beginner preferable for survival mode, cheers
I mostly just use functional mods.. but I'd certainly have a look at the Aerodynamics mod and add yourself the ability to create planes etc that actually have lift :)
that's just like multilift in real life
Where do you guys find this music?
A lot of time searching epidemic sound! :)
When is your birthday?
Klang approves
He awaits in MP for the unsuspecting
So how to vote cuz no straw poll or someting like that
Going to show all the spotlights first then do a vote at the end :)
Don't need dsync anymore if your in Dev atm
that thing works like a P.L.S. I know the US military uses it but there my be other versions out the as well

Sounds fun :) I really need to try out those engines
but i don't have space engineers :(
hey

oops just found the google doc with the contest regs, darn missed the deadline of 8th of sept. ohh well on to a new design for next year :-)
Wasted. why cant i copy and paste stuff it just flys everywhere. ik this isnt the place. gave it a like
